  4. Click on Save

Then, set up a price rule:

  1. Click on the Gear icon.
  2. Choose All List.
  3. Select Price Rules.
  4. Click on New price rule.

  6. Click on Save and close.

Here's an article for FAQs about this feature: Set Pricing Rules

Is it possible to create pricing that varies by customer type?

Hey Lizard. Glad to see you in the community today. To address the question though, yes it is possible to set up price rules inside of QuickBooks Desktop. Here's our article on using advanced pricing in QuickBooks Desktop

If you happen to already have advanced pricing turned on, follow these steps to create a price rule:

Create a price rule.

  1. From the Lists menu, select Price Rule List.
  2. Select the Price Rule button and select New.
  3. In the Price Rule Name field, enter a name for the price rule.
  4. Now, In the Description field, enter a brief description of the rule.

After you name and describe the price rule, the window to set the conditions will appear. I recommend you look back to the article I mentioned for all the different available options for setting conditions, to see if this will work best for your situation.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi there audrey4023.

Thanks for stopping by the Community, it depends on which QuickBooks product you're using, in QBO you have to turn the beta feature on to set up a pricing rule. In QuickBoosk Desktop, you have to turn advanced pricing on. If you're using Desktop you can refer to this article: Use Advance Pricing in QuickBooks Desktop. If you're still experiencing issues I would recommend reaching out to our support team as the y have the ability to dive into your personal account and see what is going on. I got your back, info275. I'm here to make sure you can set price rules in QuickBooks Online.

Before we proceed, you'll have to ensure that you're using a web browser when you apply pricing rules. The feature isn't available in the mobile app.

To start, let's turn on the price rules in the Account and Settings. I'll guide you how.

  1. Go to the Gear icon and then select Account and Settings.
  2. Select the Sales tab.
  3. In the Products and Services section, click the pencil icon.
  4. Click the button beside Turn on price rules Beta.
  5. Select Save and then Done.

Once done, we can now create price rules for your customers. Here's how:

  1. From the Gear icon, select All Lists.
  2. Select Price Rules.
  3. Click Create a rule.
  4. Give your rule a name.

There are several ways you can customize price rules, and we've listed them in this article: Set Price Rules in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, I've included an article about adding a discount to your customer. This helps you ensure all the transactions are recorded accurately in QuickBooks: Add a Discount To an Invoice or Sales Receipt.

You can always get back here in the Community for additional QuickBooks related questions. Doing so helps us to further explain everything to you.

Hello there, info275. Thanks for the screenshot you've provided.

It looks like you're using QuickBooks Online Simple or Essentials. That could be the reason why you're unable to find the Price rules feature. If you consider upgrading your subscription, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Account and Settings under Your Company.
  3. In the Billing & Subscription, select Upgrade your plan.

Once done, you can follow the steps shared above. You'll be able to turn on the Turn on price rules Beta feature. To manage your company settings, you can check the articles below:

Let me know if you have other questions. Take care and stay safe.

Hello again, @info275

I appreciate your prompt response and for confirming the type of QuickBooks version you're subscribed to.

The price rule feature in QuickBooks Online (QBO) has been introduced as a Beta in the US version in which right now, it's not yet available in the UK. That is why you're unable to find the settings provided by my colleagues above.

I can see how having a feature that let's you control the price of your products and services in the program would be helpful. While we continue to make your experience with us even better, I recommend visiting our QuickBooks Blog to get the recent news, information about the latest features, and updates in QBO.

If you have specific questions please let me know. I will be more than happy to further assist you. Have a nice day.

@info275

What kind of business do you run? If you are a wholesaler, you may utilize the B2B feature available in a inventory management app to manage multiple pricelists for your resellers.

Is it possible to create pricing that varies by customer type?

Hi, I have this problem as well.  I have looked at a number of B2B solutions but none of them enable a simple multiple pricelist tool. On QB Desktop this is called Price Levels and in QBO US it is Price Rules. Please, please Intuit can you add this to QBO UK?

Is it possible to create pricing that varies by customer type?

Is it possible to have two customer 'types' for the one price rule?  i.e.  Price rule xyz applicable to customer type = customer As and customer Bs.   Currently only one customer type can be selected from the drop down menu.  Please advise

Thanks for joining this thread, @LWills.

Yes, it's possible to have two customers type for one price rule. Since you want it to apply to specific customers, you'll have to click Select individually from the Select customers ▼ dropdown.

Then add customer A and B for that price rule. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Gear⚙️ and then select All Lists.
  2. Select Price Rules.
  3. Select Create a rule.
  4. Give your rule a name.
  5. Under Customer choose Select individually.
  6. Add your customer.
  7. Enter the necessary details.
  8. Click Save or Save and close.

For more details about price rules, click this article: Set price rules in QuickBooks Online.

I'm also adding this article to further guide you in managing the growth of your business using QuickBooks: Help Articles. It includes topics about account management, banking, and expenses, to name a few. You can click the + More topics button to view other selections.

If you have any other questions, please let me know by adding a comment below. I'm more than happy to help. Have a good one!

If you are selling services, explore CRM apps to manage multiple prices for various clients and integrate it with your QBO.

Is it possible to create pricing that varies by customer type?

Hi Fiat Lux,

I am not selling services I am selling products over 1000 in all.  I do not want to use a 3rd party app.  I am using QB Desktop Price Lists at present and know that QBO US as a similar function called Price Rules.  What I would like is Price Rules in QBO UK.

Thanks for your reply though.

Is it possible to create pricing that varies by customer type?

Thank you Joesem.  To clarify I am trying to select two customer "TYPES" not two individual customers.  I have customer type = distributors (60 individual customers) and customer type = trainers (80 individual customers) and both of them are eligible for the same price rule for multiple products.  I would prefer not to select 140+ individual customers just the two customer types that appear in the customer field drop down.  Please advise.

Thanks for coming back to us, @LWills.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), we can only select one customer type in the price rule.

There are several ways you can customize price rules, and we've listed them in this article: Set Price Rules in QuickBooks Online.
