QuckBooks 2022 Error 2147221000 when running Client Ready Payroll Report

One of my users just installed QuickBooks 2022 and now can't export one specific report to Excel 2016 (32bit). When trying to run the Client Ready Payroll Report which exports to Excel she receives an error :Unable to connect to QuickBooks - Error: 2147221000 : Method 'Get Module' of object IRunning Instance Info' failed All of the latest updates have been installed for Windows 10 Pro, QuickBooks 2022 and Excel. We've tried all of the normal trouble shooting items including uninstalling and reinstalling both QuickBooks and Excel.

Any help greatly appreciated.

QuckBooks 2022 Error 2147221000 when running Client Ready Payroll Report

Thanks for posting this payroll reporting concern here in the QuickBooks Support page, @putrlady.

I can share some insights on how to resolve this concern so you don't encounter this error in the future.

Previously, other users had reported the same concern as yours. With this our Investigation Team have released some updates and confirmed that the Client Ready reports do work with 64bit version of Excel.

QuickBooks 2022 is 64bit, therefore, it will need 64 bit version of Office to maximize performance. Once you have this version, make sure the latest release for QuickBooks Desktop 2022 and payroll updates are downloaded before attempting to open the Client Ready reports.

See the following link to learn more about the recent updates in our program: Release notes for QuickBooks Desktop 2020

For the steps to update your software, use this link. You can also install the update patch manually through these steps:

  1. Go to the Downloads & Updates page.
  2. Choose US for the country.
  3. Below the survey, click on the standard setup link.
  4. On the next page, enter your QuickBooks version to update then press Search.
  5. To download the patch, click the link for Get the latest updates.
  6. At the bottom once the patch is downloaded completely, wait until it launches automatically. You can also double-click on it to apply the update.

To download the latest payroll tax table update version 22116. You can check that by following these steps:

  1. Go to the Employees tab.
  2. Select Get Payroll Updates.
  3. You'll see the tax table version beside the Payroll Update Info button.
  4. Click on Download Latest Update if the update version is not correct. An informational window appears when the download is complete.

Once we get the latest updates installed things, Client Reports are expected to work with your new 2022 version.

QuckBooks 2022 Error 2147221000 when running Client Ready Payroll Report

Thank you for the response.

After posting my original message, my user decided to upgrade to Office 365. After uninstalling Office 2016, and thinking she was getting the 64 bit version of Office 365, the Payroll report issue remains. I just checked and she actually installed the 32 bit version of Office 365. I will be removing the 32bit version tomorrow AM and installing the 64bit version. All QuickBooks 2022 updates have been installed although I noted some of your answer seemed to be referring to earlier versions of QuickBooks.

I'll reply again after getting the 64bit version of Office 365 installed.

Had the same error on the certified payroll report in QB Enterprise 2021. Our resolution was to uninstall office 32bit (then uninstall access database engine 32bit 2007 & 2010...) then install office 64bit. We were using Microsoft 365 (which should have kept its old name of Office 365).

Hope that helps someone in the future.

*we had already repaired the installation of MS office & QB which hopefully didn't break our multiuser access.

I have downloaded the patch but I do not subscribe to the Payroll service. The patch did not fix my issue. Is it no longer possible to run the excel reports if you do not subscribe to payroll services?

Hello,

I have installed the patch as directed in the resolution however, I do not subscribe to payroll services so I am not able to update the tax tables. Are you no longer able to run these reports if you do not subscribe to payroll services?

Let me share more details about this report, VRI2001.

The Client Ready Payroll Report is one of the features included in the Enhanced Payroll for Accountants. This is the reason why you're not seeing the report even if you've installed the patch.

You'll want to subscribe to Enhanced Payroll for Accountants to be able to run the report. Here's the link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/accountants/products-solutions/payroll/.

Once done, make sure to use the service key that belongs to the Enhanced for Accountant so you can get the report. Follow the steps here for more details: Add an EIN to Existing Payroll Subscription.

QuckBooks 2022 Error 2147221000 when running Client Ready Payroll Report

One of my users is having the same problem but its with the Tax report worksheet only. We have tried the patches and updates. We even reinstalled quickbooks after making a backup. The system is up to date with windows 11 and has office 2013 64 bit version of Excel. All other reports will export fine except for the Tax report. Its in single user mode and company files are all located locally in public documents. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for joining this thread, @Hourglass92. I’m here to provide additional fixes so you can export your tax report worksheet in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Aside from updating your QBDT and ensuring your computer meets all program’s requirements, you can also repair your Microsoft Office.

When you're done, go back into QuickBooks and try to export your tax report. If the same things happen, you can follow the steps from Microsoft to uninstall and reinstall Excel.

Here’s an illuminating guide to learn more about exporting reports to Excel: Export reports as Excel workbooks in QBDT.

I am having the same problem. I can not export the quarterly 941 tax work sheet to excel. I have uninstalled excel 32 bit and upgraded to MS office 64-bit. I have applied the recommended QB patch. I am unable to update the tax table as i do not subscribe to payroll services. I had no problem doing this report  with QBDT 2019 version. Any help would be appreciated.

QuckBooks 2022 Error 2147221000 when running Client Ready Payroll Report

I am having the same issues with the error message; but it only comes about when I am trying to e-file my State SUI payroll tax returns.  The issue has only occurred in 2022 version of QB's; I still use 2020 version for one client, and I had no problem.  I have also noticed if I try to create the Tax form worksheets or Local tax summary, I get to the security warning- Macros have been disabled; but there is no option to "enable".  When I click on options I get a "Security Alert - Macros" message - with a warning "The digital signature has been tampered with after the content was signed.  This content cannot be trusted."  Is this all related to the 32bit/64bit issue or could this be something else?  Thanks!

Hi there, @LA2011.

Thanks for reaching out to the Community about your concern. I'd like to ensure that you'll be able to get past the error that you received so you can utilize QuickBooks smoothly.

Yes, you're right that it will still depend on the 32-bit and 62-bit requirements to run the QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). That said, we can also perform the following troubleshooting steps to fix this issue:

To begin, download the latest QuickBooks release. This can help improve the overall performance of the software and fix known issues. Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Help menu at the top to choose Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Tap the Update Now tab to mark the box for Reset Update.
  3. Click on the Get Updates button to remove the previously downloaded releases.
  4. Hit OK to continue.
  5. Once completed, close and reopen your QuickBooks to kick off the installation.

Then, to ensure the application is compatible with your setup and will help avoid unexpected behavior when using it. The following links provide detailed information about the system requirements for each QuickBooks version: System requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2022.

If your version is compatible, you can repair Excel to resolve the problem. The repair an office application link contains detailed instructions about the process. If none of these solutions work, follow Steps 4-5 in this article to repair an office application: Fix export to Excel issues in QuickBooks Desktop.

Additionally, check out this article for more information about several Excel reports available in QuickBooks and how to generate them: Excel-based payroll reports.

Please update me on how things turn out. I'll be around to assist you if there's anything else that you need. Have a great day ahead!

QuckBooks 2022 Error 2147221000 when running Client Ready Payroll Report

Hello.  I am running into this same issue.  We are using Quickbooks Premier Plus Non profit edition - 2022.  And I have Excel 365 running in 64 bit mode.  I get error 2147221000 and the "IRunningInstanceInfo" failed.

Interesting enough when the report is opened in Excel - excel goes into compatibility mode.  I don't know if that has anything to do with it - but even if I convert the spreadsheet out of compatability mode - the add-in fails with the same error.   Note also that I see the "QB SQL Anywhere" driver in both the 32 bit and 64 bit ODBC drivers.

If I were to download an update - what would I do - I don't see any choices for non-profit premier.

Please advise.

QuckBooks 2022 Error 2147221000 when running Client Ready Payroll Report

Let's work together to resolve the error you've encountered, FCTeamBCS.

One of the possible reasons why you're getting the error message is because the version of your Office doesn't work with 64-bit. Please know that QuickBooks 2023 is 64-bit, therefore, it'll need a 64-bit version of Office to maximize performance. Once you have this version, make sure the latest release for QuickBooks Desktop 2023 and payroll updates are downloaded before attempting to open the report. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu, then select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Select Update Now, then select Get Updates.
  3. When the update finishes, close and reopen QuickBooks.
  4. When asked to install the update, select Yes.
  5. When the installation finishes, restart your computer.
  6. After that, you can now download the latest payroll tax table.

Once we get the latest updates installed things, the report is expected to work with your new 2023 version.

You may also want to check out this article to learn what your computer needs for the best experience in QuickBooks Desktop 2023: System requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2023.

If error persists, we can run Verify Rebuild, it possible your company file may be damaged, or the folder where the company file is saved may be damaged. The Verify Data utility identifies any potential data damage issues that might've caused an unexpected error while running the Report. While the Rebuild Data utility repairs damaged data in your company file. Before this, you'll have to secure a backup copy of your company file.

QuckBooks 2022 Error 2147221000 when running Client Ready Payroll Report

I am having the same issue the last few months and did not have time to fiddle with it during tax season.  I thought it was my 2021 version coming to an end and Intuit just not fixing it.  But I just installed 2024 (desktop) and the same problem exists.  The other reports such as the Liability Accruals & Payments work just fine in Excel, the ONLY one that doesn't is the Client Ready Reports. I use that report for all of my 40+ payroll clients!!  The extra funny (not funny) thing is that on my other computer where I've been running QB 2023, with the same 2013 Excel, my reports work just fine and always have.  I need these reports to work. It can't be my system or versions of programs since all the other reports work just fine......

QuckBooks 2022 Error 2147221000 when running Client Ready Payroll Report

Your steps in resolving the issue about exporting the Client Ready payroll report are commendable, @brogoitti. I'm here to help.

I can lay out options to resolve the Client Ready payroll report in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2024 not exporting to your Excel.

Although QBDT 2024 can export other payroll reports to the 2013 Excel, I'd still encourage working with Excel versions 2016, 2019, 2021, and 2019 or the Microsoft 365 version that includes 64-bit. These versions work best with the software.

After this, I also recommend ensuring to enable macros for Microsoft Office. You can follow these steps:

  1. To enable macros, open any payroll report.
  2. Click Excel and select Create new worksheet.
  3. Click the link "Macros have been disabled." Then, select Enable Content.
  4. Select Advanced Options. Then, choose Trust all documents from this publisher.
  5.  Hit  OK.

If this is resolved and you need to set up scheduled reports in a regular and recurring time in the future, let me add this article as a reference: Set up and modify Scheduled Reports

Keep us posted if you have any updates on the problem with exporting the Client Ready payroll report to Excel in QBDT. We'll do our best to assist.
