Hello naomi2, waterlab.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community. It would be my pleasure to help you get to the bottom of this strange behavior happening with the Invoice Activities section.

I've checked here in the system and haven't found any open investigation concerning the missing Activities section within the invoice. For now, let's try to perform basic troubleshooting to isolate the issue.

We can star with logging into your account through a private browser. I'm adding the shortcut keys below depending on the browser you're using:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Internet Explorer: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

If this works, we can go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. In case private browsing fails, you can also try switching to a different supported browser. I need to know if the cause of the issue is browser related.

Please let me know how this goes. I'll be on a lookout for your response anytime you need further assistance.

I have tried it on multiple browsers both clearing the cache and in private mode and nothing has changed. The activities section is just gone.

Thanks for trying the recommended steps, waterlab.

I’m here to give you some updates about the activities section on invoices.

We’ve recently received a communication from our engineers that the activities section on invoices does not update upon re-sending the invoice. Our engineers will release a fix as soon as possible.

While we’re looking for a permanent resolution, I have a workaround for you. You can review the invoice's Audit history.

Here's how:

  1. Open the invoice.
  2. Click More at the bottom.
  3. Choose Audit history.

Please refer to the screenshot below.

From there, you can see the history of an invoice.

While the investigation is ongoing, I'd suggest contacting our Customer Contact Care Team, so we can add you to the list of affected users. This way, we can notify you via email about the status of the issue.

Here's how to reach us:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Choose Help (question mark icon) at the top right.
  3. Click Contact us to connect with a live support agent.

I'm just a quick post away if you should have any questions about this or anything else. Have a good day.

Has this very valuable feature been resolved?  I am having the same issue.  Using Chrome on Windows

This is a valuable feature indeed, goldcoastdetecti.

Precious's answer was a long time ago, and I don't see any open investigation about this anymore. You can check the Activities section on the Invoice page to know if your customer viewed it, like in the screenshot below.

If you still don't see this section on your Invoices, you can do the basic browser troubleshooting steps. Then, please let me know what happens after. You can also send a dummy invoice to your email to check it.

I cleared the Cache and used mobile, chrome and explorer..  Only the first time sent shows in the Activities at the bottom.  Very unfortunate

Any ideas??

Good work for doing the basic troubleshooting steps, Goldcoastdetecti.

Aside from clearing the cache and using a different browser, you can also open QuickBooks Online using an incognito, then check the Activities section.

Although, if you're still encountering the same issue, I'd suggest reaching out to our customer care support so an agent can take a better look at this. Here's how:

  1. Click Help inside QuickBooks Online.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Enter "Invoice activities section not working" in the description field, then click Let's talk
  4. Select Start messaging.

Don't hesitate to visit the Community anytime. We're here to help you.

Three years later and this just happened to me.  Were you able to fix this issue?

I'll help you fix this, CabinetWorld.

Strange behaviors, like missing data and errors are usually caused by the accumulated cache in the browser. To rule this out, you'll want to access your QBO company using an incognito or private window. This mode doesn't save your web searches, site data, and cookies. Here are the shortcut keys:

  • Ctrl Shift for Google Chrome
  • Ctrl Shift for Firefox & Microsoft Edge
  • Command Shift for Safari

Once you're in, head to the Invoice page and check the customer activity. If it's now working well, go back to their regular browser and then, clear its cache to delete the accumulated junk files and improve your browsing experience. Switching to other supported browsers can also help resolve this issue.

Additionally, here's an article that you can read to help track the status of your estimates, invoices, and customer payments: View sales transactions.

Please let me know if you need further assistance in dealing with your other tasks. I'll be around to help.

That did not fix the issue.  For the record, this change happened across all our forms of access:  my laptop, my desktop, my iPad, my co-workers, laptop etc...  When I spoke to service I was put on hold for a long time and they came back to me with "the recent update has deleted that feature so use the "more" button to see the audit history".  Frustrating to say the least.  I'm thinking of terminating my VIP-ask an expert feature that I'm paying $190/month because I received better assistance before I upgraded.  If you haven't figured out why this is happening to so many of us, year after year, I'm concerned and reluctant to call again only to hope I get a more experienced technician that knows what's going on.  You need another solution posted.

Dear Waterlab:

Did you ever get a resolution?  This didn't happen to me back in 2019 and I've been using the activity section up until a few weeks ago but I'm getting the same run around and un-helpful "clear the cache" tactics.

Seeing that the invoice was sent is not the same thing as seeing that it was viewed and when it was viewed by the recipient.  These issues were reported in 2019 and I've been using the feature that they lost until this month.

Looking for REAL help for an important feature that did a disappearing act.

Jess T:

If you're still employed, have you found a solution?

I've become one of the masses complaining 2019 and 2020 about the activities section you screen shot suddenly being gone.

Hi there, CabinetWorld

Allow me to join the thread and provide some insights on how you can see the Activities section on the Invoice page.

You should select the Online invoice option from the Online delivery feature before sending invoices to customers.

Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the top.
  2. Select Account and Settings.
  3. In the left menu, click Sales.
  4. On the Online Delivery section, select Pdf Attached.
  5. Choose Online invoice from the Additional email options for invoices drop-down.
  6. Click Save, then Done.

Once done, you should be able to view the Activities section at the bottom part of the invoice.

To learn how to edit your reminder message for customer invoices that are or are soon to be overdue, see this article: Send invoice reminders automatically or manually in QuickBooks Online.

That's it, CabinetWorld. Feel free to reach out to us again if you have any other concerns. I'll be here to help.
