Hello, @PJBooks.
It's nice to have you in the Community. I'd be glad to offer some insight regarding customizing customer statements.
I can see how it would be useful to have the ability to change the alignment of your customer's statement. Currently, you can only customize what appears in the activity column and whether to show the aging information at the bottom of the statement.
I'll make sure to pass your idea to our Product Development team to see if this feature will be available for future updates. You can also send your product suggestions through this link: Customer Feedback for QuickBooks Online.
Here's a relevant article for more details: Create and manage statements.
Also, for additional support, feel free to reach out to our phone support. They can help you get to the resolution quickly.
Thanks for joining the Community. If you have any other questions about statements, feel free to leave a comment below. I'll be happy to help you further.
Hi MaryGrace,
Thank you for your reply. Right aligned number columns aren't so much a feature as they are a standard accounting practice. I don't want to be able to customize the template, I want the template to be presentable to my client as a professional looking document to send to his customers. It is not a professional looking document, in fact it is complete the opposite. I would think someone would want to do something about that.
Your attention to this matter is greatly appreciated. I do hope you bring it to someone's attention soon.
I have been waiting for over a year for this to be fixed!!
Thanks for joining the Community today, @ldartnall.

Yep, did that last year. Even the lovely lady from support who was helping me spent hours with the developer guy trying to get it sorted. It was fine with QB desktop but it is an issue with QBO.
Thanks for getting back to us, ldartnall.
Allow me to lend a helping hand and get you pointed in the right direction.
I can definitely see how this feature would be useful. As a team with a massive road-map, we have to pick new features based on the value they’ll add to the most users possible.

Hi there, PJBooks,
Welcome back to our forums! I appreciate you requesting an update about the statement balance format.
At the moment, our Support Team has not yet provided a timeline on when your request gets implemented. Considering you have submitted your request to our developers, that will let them know what features would help a business like yours run even better, and they will consider that in a future update.
My colleagues and I have submitted the same request to reinforce this preference. While we haven't got the roadmap yet, you might want to check our QuickBooks Online Blog to get updates on the latest news and features with your product. Rest assured, once we have an update I'll make sure to post it here for your reference.
Your patience regarding this matter is highly appreciated. If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know. I'd be glad to assist however I can. Have a good one!
This is Ridiculous!! The fact that Quickbooks is a bookkeeping program yet can not get the alignment correct on a statement is beyond fathomable! PLEASE fix this, it is NOT a feature, Nor a feature requests, It is an ERROR in your program. It should be at the top of Intuits list to correct this!!!
Thanks for joining this thread and providing some feedback, mb150.
Currently, the option to customize the customer statements in QuickBooks Online is only for columns and aging info. I know some applications you can integrate with QBO for more customization request about alignment.
Let me route you to our app store:
We don't recommend the specific third-party application, but there's a variety you can choose from on our QuickBooks App Store to help you with modifying statements.
That should guide you through the right path, mb150.
Let me know if there's anything else you need about QBO. I'm still here to offer my assistance. Have a good one.
Hi
Why can't QB Online just correct the alignment? It used to work fine but since one of the upgrades the alignment is wrong. Why is it such a big deal?
Thanks
I think QB is missing the point.
We just want the column "right aligned" like it used to be so that our statements look correct - not like some jumbled cheap software that doesn't look professional.
If it can be "left aligned" why cant it be changed to "right aligned"??'
Surely, some clever software kid can just change the coding - its not rocket science!
HoneyLynn,
Is anyone there even looking at the document? The QBO "non-answers" are calling right aligned number columns a feature, which is an indication that you need an education in accounting. If someone at QBO wants to reply to this, print out a sample and tell me in writing how that looks acceptable to you. Honestly, it looks like it would be such a simple fix, but no one seems to care. Embarrassing.
Does anyone at Intuit even care?? Please see attachment which shows that if you go to QBO Global Search and click advanced search and select statements and then from the list, click on a statement, you get a professional looking statement on your screen (like the one on the Left in my attachment). However if you click to send it, the version that gets sent is the same one that you see any time you click to view a statement in any of the normal spots where you would. However you can print it as a pdf, then open your email, then compose your email, then attach the pdf, and then send your email FOR EACH Customer, ONE at a TIME! Soooooo, QBO actually has the correct format in their system, but some BUG is in there that sends the ridiculous looking non aligned one (on the Right of my attachment). Please fix this. PLEASE Do NOT tell me to send Feedback, I already have. And PLEASE do NOT suggest that even though I pay for QBO, I need to consider using a 3rd party app to send a decent looking statement.

Hi @mb150,
There's currently an ongoing issue about Customer Statement displaying the Date, Description, Amount, and Open Amount columns unaligned. Our product engineers are diligently working together to get this resolved.
In the meantime, I recommend reaching out to our QuickBooks Online care team so they can add your account to the investigation. By doing so, you'll receive an update regarding the issue.
Thanks for your patience and understanding while we look into this. Take care always!
I too find having the customer statement incorrectly aligned an embarrassment.
Left alignment a value column is unheard of. I agree with all the posts, left aligning is NOT a feature, NOT an enhancement. Left aligning a value column is a DEFECT. Really...why is this not resolved immediately? We're talking a syntax code adjustment from "align=left" to "align=right".
This type of issue cause people to look at other packages to meet their needs. I use XERO with my other customers and I would strongly encourage anyone using QB to check XERO out.
Quickbooks...You have one very frustrated, embarrassed customer here.
I'd feel the same way if I'm in your shoes, feedallpetfoods.
This isn't our intention to feel you that way.
As what mentioned in the previous replies, the customer statement can't be customize. And the Balance column alignment is intended by design.
Rest assured that I'll take note all your feedback about customer statement. I can forward it to our developers so it will be consider and be part in the next product update.
Get back to me if you have other questions.
PJBooks (12-03-2018 12:45 PM):
"Why is the Balance column on Customer Statements left aligned? (Note: You cannot customize Customer Statement templates in QBO)."
This embarrassing Statement layout glitch was posted here on December 03, 2018. Today is June 03, 2019. That's 182 count days.
First of all, this non-customizable Customer Statement looks like designed by some high-school kid or cheap programmer.
Furthermore, it's obvious proof Intuit doesn't go through even simple software validation process.
How long will it take to fix this minor form alignment issue (if Intuit is caring about it)?
Most of the skilled programmers would probably say less than 48 hours.
Hi Alex V,
Did you think tech support has not been advised? Do you think Feedback has not been sent?Seriously, Alex, c'mon. These placating attempts by "Team Members" don't help. If Intuit doesn't want to fix it, maybe they could add a tag line to commercials: "Left aligned number column? You know it's QuickBooks!" It could be a signature feature. No one else seems to have it.
Brilliant Response - made my Friday LOL! Thanks.
August 2019. Worst example yet.
