Hi there, @willemyoung1180.
Welcome to the Community. I'm here to assist you in showing all your projects, so you can assign them in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
I tried on my end, and I was able to see all the projects I created. I also check if there's an ongoing issue about this but there isn't currently one. To isolate this, try logging into your QBO account using a different or a private browser. There are times that the browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, thus causing some errors and/or unusual responses.
To use a private browser, here's how:
Once logged in, try to create an invoice and check if you can see all your projects on the Choose a customer or project drop-down. For your reference, you may check out this article for more information: QuickBooks Online Projects.
If it'll work using a different or a private browser, go back to your default browser and perform clear cache to remove temporary internet files on your computer. Before doing so, make sure to take note of your saved passwords and URLs. Once done, here's a helpful article with the steps on how to perform clear cache: How do I clear my browser cache and temporary Internet files.
Give this a try and let me know how it goes by leaving a comment below. Please know that I'm only a post away if you have any follow-up questions. Wishing you and your business continued success.
Thanks for the suggestion but it didn't work for me.
Hi there, @Fivestone.
I appreciate you trying out the steps given by my colleague. I’m here to share some information about why some projects are not showing up on the drop-down menu in QuickBooks Online.
There’s currently an ongoing investigation about certain projects not showing up in the online banking drop-down menus. Assigning projects to expenses, invoices and other transactions works the same way as they should.
If you’re having the same problem, I recommend getting in touch with our Customer Care Team to have your account added to the list of affected users. Doing so will allow you to receive email notification about the update of this issue.
Here’s how you can contact support:
1. Go to https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
2. Choose QuickBooks Online.
3. Select a topic twice.
4. Scroll down and click the green Get Phone Number button to get their contact information.
In the meantime, here are the workarounds you can use to assign projects to your bank feed transactions:
• Add the transaction from the bank feed and assign the project from within the bank register.
• Or rename the project, then create a new one and give it the old name. This makes the renamed project show up on the bank drop-down menus.
That should do it. Please keep me posted on whether or not this response answered your question. Thanks for coming to the Community, I look forward to hearing from you.
I also have this problem on a number of projects.
This work around of renaming and creating a new project with the old name worked, but please fix this soon as duplicate projects are going to be very confusing to employees filling out timesheets.
Thanks for joining the conversation, @DebStat21.
I’m glad you find the temporary workaround helpful.
If you haven’t already, please give our Customer Care Team a call to add your account to the list of affected users. An email notification will be sent once an update is received.
Have our representative link your case ID number to INV-23770. I’ll also personally update the thread for any new information or changes related to this.
Here are the updated steps to get in touch with phone support:
That should do it. Touch base with me here and let me know how the call goes. I’m always ready to help. Have a good one!
I can confirm some projects are not showing up so therefore Estimates and PO's cannot be assigned to a particular project number.
Its odd, the actual project number has been created and is visable, but you cannot assign anything to it...
Most odd, and bearing in mind QBO is on trial with us...its proving a challenge...
Welcome to the Community, @FLOWCFD. Normally, you can add transactions to projects by tagging them so you can track specific projects to income and expenses.
Let's check to identify if you're experiencing a browser related-issue by using an incognito or a private browser. You can open any supported browser, then follow these shortcut keys below to open a private window:
Once done, check to see if you can assign Estimates and PO's to a particular project number. If that works, troubleshoot your main browser by clearing its cache and temporary Internet files. If it's still an issue, try using another supported browser.
I've got here information about tracking income and more, refer to this help article: Track income, costs, and profitability by the project. It also includes a short video tutorial for your visual guide.
Let me know if you have anything else in mind, @FLOWCFD. I'll be around to get back and help.
This only happens in the QBO app, not when I use QBO online.
Hi there, @Fivestone.
I hope you're having a wonderful day.
Since you stated that you're using our app, I recommend resetting the app data. This serves the same purpose as clearing the cache from your browser. It resets the app back to the default settings while clearing out any saved cache in the app.
Here's how:
For more details, you check out this article about basic troubleshooting steps for QuickBooks Online app: https://community.intuit.com/articles/1458875.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with today. I'll be around the corner to help you out. Take care!
Ah ha, yes it appears to have been the browser, i logged out and back in again, hey presto, the projects seam to work again.....
Many thanks for your help on that

Remember, I'm only a comment away if you have any more questions or concerns. Have a wonderful day!
This is still a problem. Projects still don't show up even though days have passed since I added them. The show up fine in the Projects list, but not in the drop down in Time Entries. It's a real pain and is getting the way of me sending invoices and making money. It's made worse by QBO Support not being able to help and sending me to QB Time Customer Support who hung up the phone without answering it. GREAT!
This is still a problem!! I entered new projects 2 days ago and they show up in the Projects list, but not in the drop-down Customer/Project menu when I enter time under Time Entries. None of these suggestions fix the problem. I have cleared my cache, tried every browser under the sun, signed in and out multiple times, used incognito sessions, and called QBO Customer Support and QB Time Sheets support. QBO Support couldn't help and advised me to contact QB Time support but couldn't give me a number to contact them. QB Time hung up the phone without answering after me & the QBO agent waited for over 10 minutes for them to answer. FIX THIS ISSUE!!

Did you ever resolve the drop down issue? Just started today with me -- can't access customers or services from drop-down for something as simple as an invoice. Both drop-down only offer +ADD NEW. . Tried all of QB suggestions, of no use. Help!
I'll route you directly to our technical support, @nillabop.
I appreciate you for following the troubleshooting steps suggested in this thread.

Thank you for the suggestion but so far it doesn't work for firefox, edge, or chrome. I'm no longer able to see the projects list to allocate expenses. Thanks QB, we're dead in the water.
This didn't work for firefox, google chrome, or edge. I'm dead in the water and unable to allocate expense to the projects. The list worked a week ago???? Thanks QB. Not sure what's going on this time.
We want to ensure this gets fixed, Renee191.
I suggest reaching out to our customer care support. This way, an agent can take a better look at this. Feel free to follow AileneA's steps on how you can get in touch with us.
You can also take note of their support hours so you can immediately get in touch with an agent.

I am chiming in to say that I am experiencing the same issue. Some projects from a particular customer appear in the drop-down list but the one I am currently working on does not. It shows up in the list when selecting the Project tab on the menu and if I attempt to add a transaction from there it puts the project in customer field automatically as I expect it would. However if I attempt to add an item not available in the ."Add To Project List" list and have to use the customer drop down the project is not there so the item, in this case a CM, can't be assigned to the project. I see another person is having the same issue with time entries which are available in the Add to Project List.
This jsut started but I am also going to be in deep trouble real fast if this is not fixed.
Thanks for joining this thread, soundcon.

Same problem here - started today out the blue. Project codes I'd set up and have been using for months just suddenly disappeared from drop down list - showing as 'add new' only, yet the projects are there to see in the 'project' list section and also available in the drop down in weekly time sheets. I've reported to QB, they gave me a few things to try (similar to that in this thread) but nothing has worked. QB advisor told me I'm the 2nd person today to report this issue. Waiting now for technical to sort it out as it's massively distrupting for us and I'm sure for many others when trying to manage project costs. Hope they sort this one as a matter of urgency (and not months like other issues) as this is a major issue for us.
There is clearly an issue. Been on the chat with the help desk, or not so much help desk.
