You may want to double-check what you are replying to. This thread is about desktop scanners and not barcode scanners. Thankfully I was able to find another thread in which a user explains how to fix the issue in a YouTube video. I would recommend looking into it as the trip up is in Quickbooks but there is a simple fix to allow you to use a TWAIN scanner.

I have seen your list, we bought the EPSON RR-600W, and I am trying to get it set up to scan our credit card receipts. The one that we have is not on your list but I was hoping it would work. I am setting up the scanner it is asking me for a intuit email and password. I have tried mine and it will not work.
What do I need to do to get where I can scan in the receipts?
Thanks,

I am trying to get my new scanner to work with Quickbooks Accountant Desktop 2018 but it is not working. What do I need to do ?
Hello Ocordova!
Thanks for joining this thread. Let me assist you in setting a scanner.
QuickBooks Desktop supports TWAIN compliant scanners. I understand that you're using the Fujitsu Scansnap iX1400 but it'd be best to seek help from their support so they can further assist you in setting it up.
You can follow the steps in this article on how to set up and use the QuickBooks Scan Manager: QuickBooks Scan Manager: Scan and attach documents to transactions.
I also included this link to see system requirements and compatible software for QuickBooks Desktop 2018: System requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2018 and Enterprise Solutions 18.0.
Lastly, I added this article if you need help in running, customizing, and saving financial reports in QuickBooks Desktop: Understand reports.
Post again here if you need more assistance with scanners. Take care!
If you are using Enterprise 2022 or the 64bit Quick Books then you no longer have SCANNING capability. I was told that the developers cannot make it work in the 64bit software and they also removed Loan Manager and a couple other managers because of 64bit (That makes me unhappy)
I have been entering credit card receipt amounts into QuickBooks by i.e. fuel, meals….
How can I can these receipts and then get them to the appropriate category?
Thanks for posting on this thread, gmmitchum.
I’m here to help your concern about categorizing the credit card receipts is properly addressed. To ensure I can provide the best solution, I need more details about the issue.
How did you record the transactions mentioned above? Did you use the Receipt Management feature to bring them into QuickBooks?
I’m looking forward to your reply. Have a great weekend.
What a nightmare, seriously? Do they just expect people to use their weakly implemented receipt management tool? We scan a lot of documents into QB this will be a disaster. Can you still manually attach documents to things though? We attach documents to invoices, customers, etc not just receipts/bills. What facility is there now??
Hello @cube,
I appreciate you taking the time to post here in the Community space. I'm here to assist you with your concern about scanning documents into QuickBooks Desktop.
I would feel the same if I were in the same situation and scanning many documents into the system. Can you share your QuickBooks Desktop version with us?
Scan Manager is no longer available in QuickBooks Desktop 2022. You can still use Scan Manager in previous, currently supported versions.
For the 2022 version, you can use the mobile app to snap and attach documents to QuickBooks Desktop. Check out this link: Attach documents to transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.
Also, you can still manually attach files to transactions, all in one place, using the QuickBooks Doc Center. Please note we have a specific list of transactions and items that allow attachments.
We also have recommended system requirements for the best experience in QuickBooks Desktop. Here's the article you can visit to learn more about Software compatibility, as well as other information for the Desktop version: System requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2022.
We always have your back if you need more help scanning documents or managing transactions. I'm here to ensure you'll find the success you need. Have a wonderful day.
2 part question:
Is there an updated of cost effective list of scanners? That are compact?
Welcome to the Community space, @Cx2Designs.
I'll share insights about the list of scanners and their compatibility with QuickBooks.
At this time, we do not have a complete list of barcode scanners for QuickBooks Desktop. However, these are the list that already tested the compatibility of barcode scanners with QBDT.
Please note any barcode scanner is compatible with QuickBooks as long as it complies with the following formats: support EAN-13 (International Article Number, formerly European Article Number) and Code-128 barcodes and produces a single carriage return at the end of the barcode.
Once you find and the scanner meet the required format, you can enable the barcode option. For more information, see this article: Set up and use barcode scanning in QuickBooks Desktop.
Also, I'll be sharing these references that will guide you in setting up other types of scanners that can help you with your business:

Thanks for stopping by, @jessechvz.
I recognized how convenient it is for users to have updated scanners when uploading documents. You can use the Feedback feature to send this matter straight to our concerned teams. This way, our product developers can take action to help improve your experience.
Here’s how you do it:
In case you'd like to know more about the operating system, hardware, software, and other requirements to run QuickBooks Desktop 2023 and how to easily scan receipts and documents and get them added to your sales and vendor transactions, see these resources:
Stay in touch if you have any other questions or concerns with the program. I’ll make sure it’ll be taken care of. Keep safe always!
Consider having a 3rd party Inventory management app to integrate with QBD and you can use your mobile phone as a scanner.
I am currently using QuickBooks Enterprise 2021 Diamond edition, which supports document scanner. If I upgrade to 2024 will it support the same scanner setup as 2021.
Thanks!
Thank you for joining the conversation, Haresh.
I understand that you may have relied on Scan Manager in QuickBooks Desktop for your scanning needs. However, know that Scan Manager has been discontinued in QuickBooks Desktop 2022. This means that the feature is no longer available for use in the future version (2024) of the software.
I recommend exploring the Attach Documents feature, which replaces Scan Manager. This feature allows you to easily attach and link documents to transactions, such as invoices, receipts, or bills, directly within QuickBooks Desktop. It provides a convenient way to organize and access your documents without relying on Scan Manager. You can refer to this article: Attach documents to transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.
If you have any further questions or need assistance with using the Attach Documents feature or any other aspect of QuickBooks Desktop, please don't hesitate to reach back out. I'm here to help you make a smooth transition and ensure that you continue to have a productive experience with QuickBooks.
I just upgraded to 2024 desktop version and but in 2021 version I used to be able to open a check or bill and click on attach file. Then I was able to attach directly from the scanner. This feather has disappeared in 2024. How can I attach an image directly from the scanner?
I have shared a workaround in another post. Hope it works.
Thanks for joining in the thread, beta4210.
If you use the Scan Manager to scan receipts, and documents and attach them to your transactions, then it was discontinued in QuickBooks Desktop 2022. You can still use Scan Manager in previous, currently supported versions.
Since you have the latest version, you can now use the QuickBooks Desktop mobile app. Where you can upload your documents to the system using your mobile device. You can then add them to your invoices, purchase orders, or other transactions. Know that QBDT currently supports PDFs and images with JPEG, JPG, GIF, or PNG format. To utilize this feature, you'll need to download the QuickBooks Desktop app.
Please refer to the links below on how to download them based on your device:
Once done, we can now start capturing and uploading the documents. If you're using the Android version, here's how you can do that:
If you're using the iOS version, please see the steps on the link attached: Attach documents to transactions in QuickBooks Desktop using mobile. It also contains steps on how to view and attach documents in QuickBooks Desktop.
In addition, our support article archives contain informative resources about using QBDT that would help you achieve your tasks.
