hi Quickbooks community!
I just did my 1099's in QuickBooks online for the first time. In the past I was on QuickBooks for Desktop (Mac) and would import data into Tax1099. The system gave me confirmation that the 1099's have been e-filed, but I want to confirm that the recipients will receive their copies. Does QuickBooks mail the recipients copies? I don't have contractors' emails in the system.
thank you,
Liza

Warm welcome, Liza. Let me share information on how e-filing 1099 works and whether your contractors will receive copies in QuickBooks Online.
If you use our 1099 e-file service by January 28, the 1099 forms will be mailed to your contractors to the addresses indicated in the contractor's profile by January 31. The forms will still be delivered even if you don't have the contractor's email.
For more detailed information, check out this article: Year-end checklist for QuickBooks Online Payroll.
You can also print a copy of your 1099, depending on whether you're e-filed or not. Meanwhile, if you want to look closely at your business's finances, you can run a payroll report. It will provide a detailed summary of your company's payroll expenses, including employee salaries, bonuses, taxes, and other related costs.

Unfortunately, it doesn't state that the 1099s will be mailed to the contractor until you check out and choose view submitted 1099s. In the past, the QB system stated that copies would be mailed during the purchase process. Maybe QuickBooks needs to state that they will be mailed in the boxes during the check-out process.
What if you e-filed after January 28th?
Does recipient's copy still mailed?

Before anything else, please know we recognize the importance of this matter and want to ensure we're providing you with the details you need. I E-filed our 1099s on February 8th. Does QBO still mail paper copies? How soon do they go out and is it by 1st class USPS? I have one recipient saying they cannot get the Intuit 1099 to open.
Thanks
Hello, @Fernborough. I appreciate you joining the thread.
I can share information if QuickBooks Online (QBO) still sends physical mailed copies of the 1099s for submission made on February 8. I'm also here to help resolve why your contractor can't access their account to view their 1099.
Yes, your recipients will still receive physical copies of their 1099s if you e-filed using QBO even after the January 28 deadline. However, please know that there's no guarantee that it will be received on time.
Your recipients should receive the physical copy of the 1099 within 7-10 business days from its postmarked date. If your recipients aren't able to receive the physical copies within this timeframe, I recommend contacting our Payroll Support for assistance. You can also inquire to them about the specific USPS service that QBO uses.
If it was your contractor who filled out their W9, they can access their account using the same email address. Can I ask if there's any specific error your contractor received while accessing their account? For now, you can consider asking them to use an incognito or other supported browsers and ensuring that they use the same email address.

Hello - I filed mine in February a little late through Quickbooks E-file service. Will recipients still receive the form in the mail?
