1099 status in QBO

My efile status in QBO is "sent" and I have not received an efile receipt.  According to the company information the status should be Not submitted or submitted.  Why does mine say "sent".

I am on QBO Simple Start.  My credit card was charged for the 1099 service.   I see the list of 1099s in my 1099 dashboard.

Is there something else I have to do?

1099 status in QBO

Hi there, @jenjohnson2020.

I'm happy to provide additional information about your 1099 filing status in QuickBooks Online.

The status of your e-filed 1099 can be viewed under Filing status. It can either be one of the following:

  • Not Submitted: You haven't e-filed the forms with the IRS. Thus, you can keep revising it as needed.
  • Submitted: You have e-filed the form to the IRS. This can also be shown as Sent on your screen. If you need to revise it, you'll need to file a manual amendment.
  • Received by IRS: The IRS has received your form. They could be currently processing it or have already approved it. You'll receive an email confirmation approximately a week after the IRS accepts and confirms submissions.

As of the moment, you just need to wait for the IRS to receive your form since you've already e-filed and submitted your 1099 to the IRS.

1099 status in QBO

Welcome to the Community space, jenjohnson2020. I have the information you need about the e-filing status of the 1099 forms.

The Sent status indicates that tax forms were successfully submitted to the recipient and is also referred to as Submitted in the system. You can obtain an e-file receipt once the IRS receives it. Please note that it usually takes a week for the submission to be approved and confirmed. Check out this article for more information: Create and file 1099s with QuickBooks Online.

You can also print your 1099 and 1096 forms within the program.

Kindly click the Reply button below or post in the Community again if you need assistance handling your payroll forms in QuickBooks. Keep safe!

I appreciate you joining this thread, PLCtreas.

I can help provide additional information regarding the status of your e-filed 1099 forms.

Upon receiving the 'Accepted' status, it confirms that the IRS has successfully received your 1099 forms.

The 1099 forms will be mailed to your Contractors or Vendors to the addresses indicated in their profile by January 31st.

In addition, you can also give your contractors the ability to see their 1099 forms online. For more information, refer to this article: Fill out a W-9 and View Your 1099-MISC in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Don't hesitate to post again if you have further questions about the 1099 status or other concerns. I'll be glad to assist.

I filed my 1099s and Intuit has charged my card but when I go to Taxes and select 1099 Filings, there's no status listed anywhere. Where exactly do I find Filing Status?

Thanks for letting us know about your 1099 issue, hammerstrom-ccr. Let's work together to fix this and ensure your forms are submitted correctly.

The 1099 filing Status should be located in between the Recipient's Copy and Actions columns in the 1099 filings tab. Please see the screenshot below for your reference.

This 1099 filing status error is likely caused by the browser. We can perform some troubleshooting steps to isolate this. Start by pulling up your account using a private browser (incognito). Here's how:

  • Press Ctrl Shift (Google Chrome)
  • Ctrl Shift (Firefox)
  • Control Option (Safari)

Once signed in, go to Taxes and then choose the 1099 filings tab to view the status of your e-filing under the Status column.

If you're able to do so, return to your default browser and clear its cache. After that, log out and then log back into your account. This will refresh the system and remove older data that causes viewing and performance issues.

However, if this matter continues, I'd recommend using other supported browsers. Then, contact our Customer Care team to further investigate this matter.

I am having the same problem. I get this message There are no 1099 e-filings to show. but I received a receipt that says "Way to go! We'll handle those 1099s from here. Credit card was also charged.  This was 11 days ago. I have tried clearing the cache, using a different browser, etc. with no success.

Where can "filing status" be found.  I only see "status" on the Taxes-1099 screen.

Thanks for the info. I did an online chat with a rep and he was unable to solve the issue stating that he is a tier 1 troubleshooter and this was past his expertise. He sent me a follow up email to set up a call next week with an engineer to see about resolving the problem.  We will get there!  I will keep you all posted. Tami

Thanks for joining the thread, @aleonard122.

I'll be happy to guide you with a steps to check the status of your 1099 in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Let's Find out how to check the status of the payroll tax forms and payments you sent electronically through QuickBooks to the IRS or state agencies. Also know that, after you file your 1099s to the IRS with the steps above, we’ll notify you of your filing status through email. But if you didn't get it, you can see the status in your product. You can refer to the steps below:

  1. Go to Taxes, then Payroll Tax.
  2. Click Filings.
  3. Select Filter and choose the form or report you want to see. Or scroll down to the filings under Done. You'll see the status next to the tax name. If you don't see your filing on this screen, select Archived forms and filings.

You can check out this article for further details about the statuses: Check the status of your payroll tax payments or filings sent through QuickBooks Payroll.

If you still unable to view the status of your 1099, you can perform the basic browser troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue. It also helps to improve and speed up your browser's performance. Cookies and caches may prevent you from seeing those records.

First, you'll want to restart your browser. Then, try checking the status in an incognito or private browser. You can use these keyboard shortcuts to launch a new private window:

Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
Safari: press Command + Shift +

If it works on the private browser, go back to the regular browser and clear your browser's cache. Then, see if you can successfully approve the task in QuickBooks. Otherwise, you can use another supported browser.

Follow Up 1/22/2024 - Called QB help. Took 49 minutes and two reps but the problem was resolved.  The rep remoted into my PC and she suggested I file again, which I did with the same result.  I asked her to just credit my charges and I would have my accountant do them and she obliged.  Low and behold, two hours later, the status showed up as all 1099's filed!  Obviously they made some corrections on the backend that I am unaware of.  So a shout out to Kavivah for taking the extra time and thought into getting my problem resolved.
