I am filing a Federal 940 in CT. I have successfully paid the FUTA liability, including the credit reduction amount, but the Form 940 itself has been rejected twice with the following error message.
"Problem: Schedule A, Total credit reduction must equal the sum of all credit reduction amounts.
Solution: The total credit reduction amount on Schedule A must equal the sum of the credit reduction amounts for each state. Review your data and make any needed corrections.
Error Code: SA-F940-001"
The amounts match when I look at my pdf of the form. Please advise.
Hi, @weigeljl. I'm here to help ensure you'll be able to file the 940 forms and get rid of the error message.
First off, make sure that your software is up-to-date to have the latest features and fixes.
Here's how:
Once done, let's update the tax table to its latest release. This allows for precise calculations of federal and supported state taxes.
Here's how to download the tax table:
After that, you can now file your 940 forms. I'm also adding these articles for you to check out on how to submit and check filed forms:
Let me know in the comment below how it goes. I'll be here if you need further assistance in filing the 940 forms. Stay safe and have a good one!
Thanks for the response, but I had already updated all of my software before filing the return. I just confirmed the status of the software (tried to update but there was nothing to update) and refiled it again to be thorough. The form was rejected again by the agency with the same error message. The error code comes up as a math error. Please let me know what other suggestions you have.
I am also having the same issue filing the 940 form. I did the suggested updates and still the same thing. Tried four times!!
Please issue an email with this is fixed!

My issue is that when I try to file a 940 in QB Desktop it gets rejected. QB GET SUPPORT STAFF THAT CAN ACTUALLY PROVIDE SUPPORT!
Same issue - fully updated payroll.
That answers how to put in the proper state uemployment rate. It didn't answer the question about the 940 error.

My feeling is there's a glitch in this form that's causing it to kick out. When I file another state that doesn't have the credit reduction, it is fine. I'm frustrated because I have 9 clients who I file this for and all 9 were rejected. The math is correct but it still gives the same error message and solution.
Going to mail in and not spend anymore time on this!
There must be a glitch in that form because I have filed 9 other clients and getting the same message. Only happens with the credit reduction and not other states that don't have that. Bad idea chatting as they ask you everything but what the problem is. A big waste of time....terrible support. Asked for a callback and they said 5 minutes which was 2 hours ago.
Probably going to mail in.
For everyone on this thread, I have called support and they have escalated. It is a big problem affecting a large number of users. Not sure why the Intuit folks on here aren't aware of that... They are telling me 2-5 business days to fix. Stay tuned.
Thank you!!!
Thanks weigeljl for passing that along. Haven't had the time to be on hold to inquire myself. We'll see what happens!
THANKS!!
We are having the same issue. Tried everything and updated the program/forms on Saturday.but still getting rejections. Spoke to Intuit help and person went in and checked and confirmed we have latest updated version and still form kept rejecting. Per intuit program update - the issue is - IRS not accepting Intuit version of Sch A and it has been fixed under tax table version 22301. Apparently, it still has not been fixed. Also, there is a newer tax table version of 22302 which is what we have on your computer. The agent advised to contact the IRS which does not make sense, as the IRS is going to refer back to the software company. Would greatly appreciate advising how to fix this issue.
Thanks

Same issue here with CT. I think the form is sending in blank information on other states- CA, NY and IL. When I printed the .pdf I saw the issue. It isn't viewable on the screen version. The form is faulty and Intuit needs to fix it. I also called and was told to update my forms but I am fully updated.
Thank you for joining this thread, ecoast1. I appreciate you updating the forms.
Let me provide the status of the issue about the rejection error we encountered when we filed your 940 tax form.

I hope my message lessens your worry about the issue. Keep me posted if you have other QuickBooks concerns. Just leave a comment below or create a new post. We're always open to help you. Have a great day ahead!
An update to this thread is that I tried refiling the 940 yesterday just for fun, and although it was marked "Submitted" for a LONG time (all day yesterday and through the evening), by this morning I got the email that it had been successfully processed by the IRS. I assume that means Intuit fixed whatever the bug was. Good luck everyone!
Hi there, @weigeljl.
Thanks for checking in and letting others know that the issue has been resolved.
