Changing Admin email in Desktop

Lately when I open QB I get a window asking how I should sign in.

It provides an email for the Admin, but it's not mine.

I've been through all of the postings and google searches I can find but none addresses changing that to me (as I am the Admin for the account).

I can't change it in the USER list and most of the other suggestions reference the web application.

this is very annoying

Try using the email address and password as Primary Contact to log into your CAMPS.

Thanks to Fiat Lux – ASIA, for sharing a resolution. In addition, let me breakdown the step for you so you’ll be able to test your credentials and update it, @Cummingsjp.

You can manage your QuickBooks Desktop account in one place with the help of the Customer Account Maintenance Portal (CAMPs).

Here’s how you do it:

  1. Go to camps.intuit.com.
  2. Sign in with your Intuit Account info.
  3. Select QuickBooks Desktop to go to CAMPs.

To change your email from there, just go to the company name drop-down menu, then select My Profile. You can check this reference for the complete process: Update your user ID, phone number, and contact information for Intuit.

You might want to know more about CAMP’s and it uses, feel free to visit the link. It includes several articles such as finding your license number, changing your business address and even tracking your charges in the program.

Don’t hesitate to reach out again here if you have other concerns with QuickBooks. We’ll be around.

I have the same issue and this does not solve the problem.
When I restart Quickbooks Desktop there is a window the pops up saying "Sign in to Quickbooks company file successful  To open the company file, you need to sign in to your Intuit account.
You're the admin and own/manage this company and its financial actions."

Within that particular box the email address is for the past company owner (my ex-business partner).  When I click on continue the next window that opens has the past owners email there and I cannot change it out to a different email.

If I go to CAMPS as the reply suggests, I have no way to log in to make the change because it requires the email address and user id of the past owner. So there is no way for me to update the email address to a new one.
There is no way for me to be able to remove the past email address and update with a new one.

Otherwise, reach out to our Customer Care Team to update the information. Before doing so, please check out our support hours here

  1. In your QuickBooks Desktop program, go to Help QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. In the Have a Question window, click the Contact Us link at the bottom.
  3. From the Contact Us page, select any topics.

No, that doesn't work either.

To be honest, I've never experienced such a difficult piece of software to use.

Changing Admin email in Desktop

After days and hours on the phone with untrained tier 1 & 2 support, I figured this 30 SECOND PROCESS out and Trained QB/Intuit Support how to do it.

We had a similar situation, the person who set up QB Desktop no longer was with the company and their Intuit account was connected to the QBD Amin user.

To "Disassociate" an Intuit user account with the Admin QBD user:

1. Open Company file

2. Select Help menu > "Reset Intuit ID Settings..."

3. Type "Yes" in text field

4. You're presented with 2 options, one if you are accessing the QBD Admin account but not the main Intuit user and one if you are the QBD Admin and the main Intuit user.

5. Log in using the left option and this Intuit account is now "Associated" with QBD Admin user.

Thanks so much for posting. Saved me the usual spending 3 hours hanging up on reps who know less than I do about the product.  They must spend days perfecting how to run the File Doctor to try to fix every problem.

I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your help! I spent hours and hours with online support getting no where. I am so glad I came across your post. Such an easy fix, too. I am relieve to have the mystery solved, but a little miffed that Intuit wasted my precious time. They really should know about this option....

Please, All I need is to correct the email address that has been associated with the admin of the company file. When I select Help\Reset Intuit ID Settings, it says that I will lose access to all my Intuit account users and their associated roles. If I am logged into the company file as the admin, can I safely proceed and still have admin access to my users and roles ?
