How do I delete Memorized transactions?

Hi joycek8393,

I'm here to help.

You can click on the Gear icon, and then select Recurring Transactions to delete the transaction. Click the arrow on the Action drop down menu beside the transaction you want to delete.

I've attached a screenshot for your reference.

Let me know if there's anything else you need help with. Thank you.

In QB 2019, I don't see a "gear" icon.   Am I being selectively blind?    Can you point me to it please?

Thanks for joining in on the thread, Alison. The steps above are for QuickBooks Online users.

Let me show you how to delete the memorized transactions in QuickBooks Desktop:

  1. Click Lists at the top menu and select Memorized Transaction List (Ctrl + T).
  2. Right-click on the memorized transaction and select Delete Memorized Transaction.
  3. Select OK.

You might want to use this article if you want to know more about memorized transactions: Create and modify memorized transactions.

Let me know if you need more assistance with this.

How do I delete Memorized transactions?

Thanks for this.  But it doesn't do the trick.   I enter a "new" transaction (which somehow auto-fills a crazy $$ amount) -- I add it to the Memorized Transaction list.    I go to the list.   I delete the transaction.    I go back to the ledger to test it.   I enter the payee and QB continues to auto-fill the amount which, by the way is only $.09 -- but it is SO annoying that I can't get rid of it.   I'm pretty tech savvy but -- What am I missing?

How do I delete Memorized transactions?

Hi, @AlisonGordon.

I appreciate you trying over the steps provided by my colleague. Allow me to loop in for a moment and provide additional information on how to stop QuickBooks from auto-filling the amount when entering a new transaction on the Ledger.

To do this, you need to remove the check mark on the Automatically remember account or transaction information on your Preferences. Here's how:

1. Go to Edit menu at the top, then pick Preferences on the drop-down.
2. Choose General on the left panel, then go to My Preferences tab.
3. Remove the check mark on the Automatically remember account or transaction information under AUTOMATICALLY RECALL INFORMATION.
4. Once done, select OK.

I also added a sample screenshot below to show you the second to fourth steps.

That should do the trick! QuickBooks will now stop auto-filling the amount when entering a new transaction on the Ledger.

Please let me know how it goes by leaving a comment below. I'd be glad to answer should you have any follow-up questions. Take care and have a great rest of the day.

How do I delete Memorized transactions?

Hello again... Well, this didn't turn out as well as I had initially anticipated.   By unchecking AUTOMATICALLY RECALL INFORMATION, all info for all entries is eliminated.  That wasn't the goal, sorry.  I just want to get rid of ONE stupid little $.09 auto-recall.   This shouldn't be so difficult, right?

How do I delete Memorized transactions?

Good day, AlisonGordon.

Let me share some details about the Automatically remember account or transaction information setting.

You're right. This feature allows QuickBooks to pre-fill new transactions based on previous transactions. It's a like sticky note feature in which QuickBooks remembers the information you've entered before.

For more details, you can go to the Help menu, select QuickBooks Help and search Automatically recall information.

Since you opt not to turn off this feature, you can always override any pre-filled information in a transaction and that includes the amount. If you add transactions in the check register, try updating the amount and QuickBooks will remember it when you enter another entry for that payee.

Right now, we are unable to eliminate just the amount for a transaction and remember the other details. I've sent a request to our Product Developers so they might consider adding this option. It would also help if you can send your feedback. They'll use your suggestions to fix and improve the overall product experience.

To do this, just click the Help menu at the top and select Send Feedback Online.

Thanks for letting us know about your experience. I'm happy to help some more if you have other questions in QuickBooks. Have a great day.

How do I delete Memorized transactions?

Trying to delete a memorized transaction in Quickbooks Desktop for Mac 2019 and I am not seeing the option to delete.  I can edit but there is nothing even within the edit function that I see that will allow me to delete the transaction from the list.  I'm hoping that I'm missing something simple here.

How do I delete Memorized transactions?

I have been manually processing payroll from a 3rd party payroll vendor using QuickBooks Pro 2011 (Windows version) and recently switched over to Mac and also upgraded my QuickBooks to the Desktop for Mac 2019 and I can't seem to figure out how to manually enter payroll information.  I know Quickbooks wants businesses to use there payroll services but we are not ready or in a position to switch right now.  I also see that there have been other responses and instructions given as to how one can set up manual payroll processing but they do not fit/work with the Desktop for Mac 2019 version.

Any help before I invest a ton of time to figure out my own way to manually enter the payroll information would be greatly appreciated.

How do I delete Memorized transactions?

It's nice to have you in the discussion, @janicec419. I can provide clarification on the Gear icon.

The Gear icon is located in the upper right of the screen and contains multiple options for QuickBooks Online (QBO), such as Account & Settings. I've included a picture to serve as an example of this:

Should your screen look different than this, then you may be using QuickBooks Desktop. My colleague, @JamesDuanT, provided instructions above for this version.

I'm confident that this information will get you on the right path.

Please let me know if you should have any questions about memorized transactions, or anything else. Have a nice day.

Is there a way to delete multiple MEMORIZED transactions at once or must they be deleted one at a time?

How do I delete Memorized transactions?

Greetings, JeanneO.

I'm here to provide insights about your memorized transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

The ability to delete memorized transactions using the Batch action feature is still unavailable. For now, you can only get rid of them manually by pressing the Ctrl + D key on your keyboard or selecting Delete Memorized Transaction from the Edit menu at the top.

The screenshot below will serve as your visual guide:

In case there are any updates, you can refer to the articles I'm attaching below about memorized transactions and the batch delete feature:

I want to ensure I'm able to provide the information you need, so please feel free to reach out to me anytime through this thread. I'm just a click away. Have a lovely day.
