You guys are seriously just being ignorant.
2 Factor authentication is OFF but it is still forcing it's use every time to log in.
Answer that question Jon.
Why do I need to get a text every time to log in to quickbooks if 2FA is DISABLED.
Just answer that question. Please.
Just address the issue.
The actual issue.
Please, Jon, read the issue, and address that issue. Answer the question.
Fix this.

If you can't turn it off, why is it an option?
Hello @Swoopware,
Two-factor authentication is intended to provide additional security as a requirement for customers upon login. Even if you've turned it off from the security settings, it'll still ask for a code sent via email or mobile number.
This article will discuss more of this section: Additional login and confirmation code. Even if this article is tagged for QuickBooks Payments, the same principle applies as it discusses your login confirmation.

You aren't listening @JonpriL.
Why is there an option to turn it off if it can't be turned off?
We don't need any more copy pasta about how much you like 2FA. The people complaining don't want it rammed down our throats. We want to be able to turn it off. I don't want to wait for an SMS and then manually type a six digit code every time I enter an invoice. It's a right royal PITA.
If you must enforce it then offer some alternative options like Google Authenticator, Authy or yubikey or give me back my desktop application.
I am so upset with Intuit on this issue that I am actively looking for a replacement software. Their customer service is as bad as it gets.
Ha, ha, case in point. To send that last rant about SMS codes, I had to, you guessed it, log back in due to the daft three hour time out rule. Then it sent me a {bad word removed} SMS code. I didn't have my phone. It was on charge in another room. The irony is killing me here. Walk to the other side of the house, mentally preparing to memorise a six digit code, quietly fuming at QB and...no SMS. WTF? Maybe it was the one from earlier today and the time zones are messed up. Back to the computer, nope, wrong code. It said it sent right there on the screen and the number was correct but no code ever arrived. Back to the 2FA screen you go young man! Code resent, walked to the other side of the house and, hey presto, code arrived and I even managed to memorise it correctly. Exact same process as the previous failed attempt and nope, that previous code never arrived.
Indeed you are not addressing the issue at all with your post.
Let me also add, that this verification request happens sometimes two or three times in a roll before we can get in. The repeated request to verify also happens with TSheets. It is very frustrating and a waste of time.
Why does intuit even give us the option to "turn it off" when it doesn't do anything? I've never had it enabled. It just started asking me a couple months ago and even when I go into the settings, it shows as off yet I still get asked.
It is adding time to my day that shouldn't be there.
I need to disable the forced intuit online as I dont need anything from quickbooks online and the constant forcing me to login when I send an invoice is annoying and unessecary... WHY do you do this...
Your response doesn't really address the question asked here? Please answer the question asked as I'm having the same annoying issue and it's constantly freezing my quickbooks.
I would also love an answer here. I see the same thing on Mint. Every. Single. Log in. Even if I'm on the same computer and log back in 5 minutes later, it forces me to have an SMS code to log in. Even with 2FA turned off. This is absurd. Common security standards would allow you to remember a device for a period of time and only require 2FA on a log in from a different device or after a set period (like 7 or 14 days). This is such a terrible user experience.
I have to do this every time, on my computer and phone. I went into my settings and it says that mine is off... so now what do I do??
You're correct about the two-step verification process in QuickBooks, @DeniseB8. Let me share further details about this.
Your account's security is our top priority. Two-factor authentication works as an extra layer of security upon logging into QuickBooks. Even if you've turned it off from your account settings, it'll still ask for a code sent via email or mobile number.

QB still makes me received a text message with a code EVERY SINGLE TIME I log in even with Two Step Verification turned off. I am using the same device and this is super annoying. What is crazy is that I can sign into my online account from the pc at my full time job and it rarely makes me do this. What can I do so I don't have to receive a code via text every time I want to get into QB?
Thanks for sharing your experience when logging into QuickBooks Online (QBO) using your mobile device, @1817designs. With that, I can share some insights about Two-Step Verification on mobile devices.
Two-factor authentication works as an extra layer of security upon logging into QuickBooks. Even if you've turned it off from your account settings, it'll still ask for a code sent via email or mobile number if it's your first time logging into a specific device (i.e., PC and mobile devices).
With your device (mobile), access your account on a regular browser or through the QBO app, don't use Incognito (private browser). This will trigger the program to generate a code because it won't save any history. Then, allows the cache to save site settings or memorize account history. Just make sure there aren't any third-party apps that will prevent QuickBooks from doing so.
However, if this matter persists after following the suggestions above, I would encourage you to contact our Customer Care team. They can securely pull up your account, further investigate the cause of the issue, and guide you with a fix. Here's how:

Please don't hesitate to keep me posted on how it goes in the comments below. If you have other concerns about two-factor authentication in QBO, I'll gladly help. Take care, and I wish you continued success, @1817designs.
It does verification with me every single time I login, same device every day. I've been getting told that it's normal to have it ask that every time I login, I just want to verify it and be done.
Please listen to what we are telling you here in this thread. Verification is asked even if we have two-step turned OFF. I will also add, it is even asked if we simply want to open a new tab! And When we finally get the code and log in, Intuit Sheets logs us off.
And, in addition, after having logged into a second tab, the first time stops working. It does not tell us, hey you need to login again. It just stops responding
So annoying and such a waste of time.
This is fine for QBO but I need to turn off second party verification in QB Enterprise Suite (desktop) so I can send reports and the payroll person can send out checks without having to text back and forth the codes. How do I turn this off. I'm in Enterprise suite through Rights network and it's very, very annoying and time consuming.
Obviously the users do not want 2fv. I think it's a royal time consuming pain since I'm already signed in two different ways. Please tell me how to turn off this annoying time consuming two party verification code sent to a phone that is in the office while we work at home.
Thanks for posting this here in the Community, @Carolexx. Let me share some information about your concern.
For you to be able to access your account on Desktop/Web without the Two-factor authentication, you will have to access the device where the code will be sent and then disable or turn off the two step verification. To begin with, these are the few simple steps:
For more details about Two-step verification, you can refer to this article.
In case it is impossible for you to have an access of your phone for some reasons, I recommend checking out with our Support Team. This way, we’ll be able to review the security settings of your account and then check the program if it is still requiring you to enter a code.
Here’s how:
Also, I recommend visiting our Data and Security page to help you manage your information and privacy settings in QuickBooks Online.
Feel free to place a comment if you have other concerns with your QBO account. I'm always here to help. Stay safe!
I have it off and have had it off
you have to be in your Manage Your Intuit Account, not QBO.
We have it off. It does nothing to stop this.
Good morning, @kastrup.
Thanks for following up with us and letting us know that you have the two-step verification turned off.
Since turning the option off from your end isn't working, I recommend contacting our Support Team for this. This way, an agent can review your account in a secure environment and check out the back end if anything is causing the requirement. You can use the link I've included below to connect with an agent.

Try enabling the Authenticator app and then turning off 2FA.
This has finally fixed the issue for me and I can now turn it off and on with or without the Authenticator app. Something was messed up with my account. No amount of toggling 2FA would help. I was stuck in an endless loop of entering my six digit code every three hours. Everything now works exactly as expected and my browser is recognised as trusted even with 2FA on.
I took screenshots but adding images is a pain so the steps are:
I'm convinced this is a glitch in the system. When I sign in at work, Intuit sends an authorization code to my boss's email, which I don't always have access to, which means I can't sign in. When I sign in from home, I don't get the authorization step, so it has nothing to do with two-step verification, which isn't on anyway. However, I discovered a work around. Create a new email address for yourself at any of the free ones, like Yahoo or Gmail. When you have been able to log in as the user you prefer to use, invite your new email self to join. Go thru the steps of setting your new email address up as a new user with the same access you have as your regular user self. Next time you need to sign in, enter your new email address. Instead of sending an authorization code, it asks you for your password. Enter whatever new password you used and you are in. To get back to your regular user self, log out, and then immediately log back in. This time you have the option to log back in as your old user self and password, and it doesn't send an authorization to your email.
