Why would intuit pill my credit report?

I have the same question. Why was a personal credit report pulled? That was not disclosed clearly at any point during any of the forms completed on the platform so far!

Why would intuit pill my credit report?

Thank you for posting here in the Community, @Monza.

If you're referring to business loan using QuickBooks Capital, I can provide some clarification about it. While we mainly use your business information, we also need to know some details about the guarantors.

They will be responsible for repaying the loan if your business can’t pay. The personal credit history provides crucial information that helps determine whether you qualify or not to guarantee the loan.

For additional reference, I've attached a link you can use to learn more about why Intuit includes the personal credit records: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/capital/resources/business-loans-and-your-personal-credit/.

In case you're referring to something else, feel free to let me know. You can add more details by dropping a comment down below.

Drop me a comment below if you have any other questions. I'll be happy to help you some more.

Hi AlcaeusF,

Thanks for the clarification. It would be very helpful to make sure the person filling the forms is aware of such checks. As you know, hard inquiries on credit reports do impact the individual's credit score. (How can the customer request the removal of that inquiry?).

In this case, the individual's score is ranked as "Excellent" yet the service was declined with no explanation email to be followed.

Thank you for looking into this.

Why would intuit pill my credit report?

No, this was not for a capital loan. It was completing the Invoice setup procedures to be able to send invoices to the clients and accept payments. Maybe it was for collecting payments?

Thank you for providing the complete details of your concern above, @Monza. This way, I can give you the exact information you need about setting up your QuickBooks Payments account.

When you set up a QuickBooks Payments account, you authorize Intuit to make any inquiries we consider necessary to verify your identity, account information, and/or to determine your current credit report. Once you process a payment, your customer should know about its details to keep the transparency of the transaction.

To learn more about this, you can refer to this article: Intuit Payments Merchant Agreement. It includes topics about eligibility, responsibility, and credit checks to name a few.

After signing up, it'll take up to 2 business days to receive an approval email. Sometimes, there may be more information we required. When this happens, you’ll get a notification email with what’s needed. Once approved, you can refer to this article on the actions you need to take: Next steps after signing up for QuickBooks Payments.

I'm also adding this article to answer the most frequently asked questions about QuickBooks Payments: Many ways to get paid. It includes details about recurring payments and downloading credit card transactions to name a few.

You can click the Reply button below if you have follow-up concerns about setting up a QuickBooks Payments account and/or other inquiries. I'll gladly help. Keep safe.

Why would intuit pill my credit report?

Just found out my credit was pulled too for becoming a customer of quickbooks.  This is ridiculous and no way you need this information from your customers.

I just found out that your company did a soft credit check and I don’t remember seeing anything as I was clicking on the screens that indicated you would be doing this. I NEVER would’ve let you run a credit check right now because I’m buying a car and this likely will negatively impact my chances of getting approved for a loan. It may be in the written agreement however you know we as consumers don’t have time to read those long documents. You should make sure people know what they are getting into very clearly and in a user friendly way. I will be canceling my subscription and telling anyone who asks not to use your company for their bookkeeping. This is ridiculous.

Why would intuit pill my credit report?

I'm setting up an account to invoice for consulting work. I clicked through the account set up, entered the last four of my social (a message was displayed showing that this wouldn't affect my credit), then come to find out that they ran a credit check without my consent. This is pointless and unethical. I am canceling this subscription and moving my other  businesses off of Quickbooks completely.

There is a message displayed when entering the last four of your social that clearly states that your credit won't be affected. Are we meant to believe this? It seems to be intentionally misleading. I too need this inquiry removed immediately.

Very misleading!  Just found out today they pulled my credit report without my authorization!  I signed up a couple of days ago.  If I would've known this, I definitely wouldn't have signed up.  There has go to be a way to reverse the credit check and cancel my subscription.

Why would intuit pill my credit report?

I realized this week that Intuit had run a hard pull on my file. Contacted them to request more information, they verified it was a hard pull. I requested it be removed. Rep told me they couldn't and referred to the terms and conditions.

Onboarding gave no reasonable expectation for a credit pull as credit was in no way being applied for. I asked for the ticket to be escalated and said this was unacceptable.

Recieved another notification yesterday that a SECOND hard pull had been done on my file by Intuit following my request for reversal. Will be contacting an attorney

Why would intuit pill my credit report?

I just tried to have my Desktop 2020 updated to 2023.  FYI - I have frozen my credit lines for safety for a number of years now.  All my credit cards work, but when Quickbooks tries to apply the payment on my credit card for the upgrade it says that there is a hold on the card.  (which there is not.)  Quickbooks supervisor said it is a bank problem....so I said no problem let's use AMEX - a different company /bank.  Same thing.  Quickbooks is doing a soft credit check....which it can not do since I have frozen my credit.  How do I resolve this so I can purchase the upgrade?  I have never heard of a company doing a soft credit check when doing just a purchase.

Why would intuit pill my credit report?

Update - Followed your instructions and talked with Tech Support.  Not too much help there.  HOWEVER I received an email from the Intuit Finance Department.  It looks like the payroll side of Quickbooks was having a credit card problem (expiration) and put my account on hold.   LOL  Got that straighten out and I should be able to upgrade.  One side of the business not talking with the other.  I would recommend that sales know what "account hold" means instead of just blaming it on the bank or maybe calling it "intuit account hold" for all to know.  Bill

Came here for the same concern! Quite bad UX + CX on the team's part to pull the customer's credit report without making it extremely clear.

Caused bit of a panic when I got notified that someone did a credit check on me.

It also happened to me i register to try their software and I didn't like it that's why i cancelled their services and i got an e-mail that they pulled the HARD INQUIRY on my credit check which is it impacted my credit score. Never ever wants to have service with you guys. If i ever know for registering an accounting software the company will put hard inquiry on my credit report i would absolutely refuse to do that.

Why would intuit pill my credit report?

Happened to me in Canada. Hard check on Equifax. All I was trying to do was test out their invoices. Nothing mentioned about an Fing credit check hard or soft. Why the F would I want to do a credit check to try out invoicing. Can't believe this hasn't been stopped yet or been in the media. Time to expose this it's insane.

Why would intuit pill my credit report?

I was searching for reasons they'd pull just for clarification nd to know how frequent it would be.

I was setting it up yesterday(did not complete) because I kept reading the terms of service etc. at each page that allowed me. and on the last page, where I did that I saw they they would do a soft pull I swear it said a couple times a month or something wild.

So I halted completing it.

I read through this thread. idk it gives me a clear reason how it helps. cuz I might even still do it if I could understand. Especially since I'm on the trail version so it'd help me decide whether or not I continue with the service.
