FIXED!! to have transactions import for all additional users for American Express including main account. Each user has a user name and password. You will need to know this information so you can merge the accounts.
1. Go to chart of accounts. Create a new credit card account. You might want to call it "Amex Parent Account". It will ask you the balance. Go to your main account and enter the balance for todays date. (you will not want to link this account you just created in the banking page)
2. After you create the parent account, find the original Amex credit card account that was importing in QuickBooks originally and edit that account. Under where it shows sub account check that box and select the parent account that you created above.
3. Go back to your main banking page. Link a new account. You will want to link the additional users amex credentials. After it links the account go back to chart of accounts and edit the account and select sub account as the parent account. You will then see the main account on your banking page and it will bring in all the transactions. If you have more users, you will need to do this for each user account. You may want to import the transactions manually for the main user before you do this so you have all the transactions in there from previous dates but this works!! If you balance if off in the parent account, you could always journal that balance to fix it by selecting the new button and selecting "Journal Entry". Hope this helps!!

Unfortunately, this is not a complete fix because the issue remains that you can not reconcile from the ONE bank statement like you can from the American Express Business card. (The issue of downloading the transactions goes hand-in-hand with then being able to reconcile the account.)
SOLUTION: QBO can do exactly as they have done with the AMERICAN EXPRESS BUSINESS card.
Both the BUSINESS and BRILLIANT cards have one account with multiple account holders.
The Business card works and the Brilliant card does not work.
The Brilliant card does not download the transactions from the additional card holders like the Business card does.
Therefore, you cannot reconcile the Brilliant card without doing manual work.
I’m having same problem. Any other solution yet? I have a client with pages and pages of transactions every month and it’s a waste of time to manually add these.
Hi there, @VIPbookkeeper. I want to ensure you'll get the right support to help you resolve your banking concern.
There are several steps that can help you fix download issues of accounts connected to QuickBooks Online (QBO). To get a detailed guidance, please visit this article: What to do if you get a bank error or can't download transactions in QuickBooks Online.
However, if the issue persists, I highly suggest reaching out to our support team to further investigate what prevents transactions from being downloaded to your American Express account in QBO. They use specific tools to pull up your account and verify the root cause of the issue.
In the meantime, you may follow the recommended workaround to manually import transactions from your bank's website to QBO. Once transactions are in, you'll now need to categorize and match them in QBO to make sure they are allocated to the correct account.
Reviewing your accounts to ensure that real-life bank and QBO balances are in sync is a breeze. This can be done by performing the reconciliation process. Once finished, you can also pull up a reconciliation report that you can save to serve as a reference to avoid reconciliation issues in the future.
If you have any other banking concerns, feel free to post them here in the Community. I'll be always around to help. Take care.
I wanted this to work but it did not work for me. Still only pulls in primary and not authorized users.
We want to get the best help for you, Cherokeecpa.
I'd like to make sure that we're on the same page so I can provide you with the right amount of information. May I ask what's your bank provider? Are you trying to import all cardholders' transactions including the unauthorized user? Also, are you referring to importing bank data from a parent or sub-account? Any details or screenshot is appreciated so we can narrow down this issue.
I'll be here waiting for your response to answer any questions I can. Have a great day ahead.
This worked for me - thanks so much for the tip!
Dear Quickbooks,
How on earth is this not fixed yet?
It's such a simple change! Either don't split up the transactions into multiple cards OR accurately split the total balances for the cards in QB. Seriously ridiculous.
Sincerely,
Yet another overpaying customer.
Here we are two years later with no fix.
I am having the same issue with manually uploading QBO files from American Express to QuickBooks desktop. Each of the 25 users has there own account and individual upload however many of the transactions that are in the QBO file are not populating in QuickBooks. I have opened a ticket 1599252291 a couple of months ago as the missing transactions list for each user is increasing to 40+ missing transactions depending on the users usage for that month.
This is not the impression we want you to experience you manually upload your QBO files from American Express into QuickBooks Desktop, Accounting584.
Web Connect issues can happen for several reasons, like incomplete bank files or incompatible formats. Changes from your bank can also create issues. This results in the transactions that are in the QBO file not populating in QuickBooks. Before we start, let's make sure we perform the following:
Once done, we can download your Web Connect file directly from your bank, not from inside QuickBooks. Make sure the file you download from your bank is a .qbo file, the only type Web Connect can read. Here's how:
If you import and see your transactions in QuickBooks, you’ll need to disconnect your account and then set it up again. If you see an error when you download the file, there may be an issue with your bank. Just reach out to your bank for help. For other troubleshooting steps, just follow the details in this article: Fix Web Connect import errors.
If the problem persists, I recommend contacting our Technical Support Team again. Just provide the case number to the agent so that they'll further investigate what's causing this issue. Here's how to reach them:
Ensure to review their support hours so, you'll know when agents are available. Feel free to visit our Baking page for more insights about managing your bank feeds and reconciling accounts.
Keep me posted if you need further assistance with your bank transactions or any other banking concerns in QuickBooks. I'll be around to help you. You have a good one.
