Within the last couple days, QuickBooks Online has started having errors uploading .qbo files into bank feeds. The .qbo files are valid, but QuickBooks skips from step 2 to step 5 of the process and doesn't import anything. It doesn't have this issue with .csv files; and it doesn't have this issue in an incognito window with no extensions. The same files would upload file last week.
Does anyone know what causes this bug and how to (to get Intuit to) fix it? https://youtu.be/Srpo65LyUUQ?si=7N81vDBNIdBV66FV

Hello there, @AaronBookkeeperer. Thanks for getting back to us, and I appreciate the additional details about your concern with importing the .qbo file into QuickBooks. Allow me to chime in and share insights about downloading data in QuickBooks.
When you import bank transactions using a . QBO file, the mapping steps are skipped because the format is not editable. The .QBO files are used for importing transactions into QuickBooks Online, and editing of these files is typically not done manually within the platform as it can lead to data inconsistencies and errors.
If you need to ensure that the data is in the correct format, you can opt to use CSV files instead. To learn how to verify the format of the CSV file you received from your bank for uploading transactions to QuickBooks, please refer to this article: Format CSV files in Excel to get bank transactions into QuickBooks. Once everything is ready, you can now manually import them into QuickBooks Online. For detailed instructions, open this link: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.
Alternatively, you can visit our QuickBooks App Center to explore third-party applications (online converters) that can assist you in importing .qbo file transactions into QBO.
Likewise, allow me to include these resources that will guide you in matching your bank transactions and eliminating duplicate entries when uploading them into QuickBooks:
If you require any further assistance with importing bank transactions or any other matter, please feel free to leave a comment below. I am always available to help. Have a great day.
Thanks for joining the Community, AaronBookkeeperer. I appreciate your detailed information and video.
Since steps are being skipped while uploading .QBO files and the transactions aren't being uploaded, but your uploads work while browsing in an incognito window, it's possible this problem's being caused by the browser you're using. Browsers store temporary internet files and sometimes these can cause issues on certain webpages. These types of problems can be fixed by clearing Intuit-specific cookies and cached data.
Here's how to clear Intuit-specific cookies:
Your steps for clearing the browser's cache can be found in our Clear cache and cookies to fix issues article.
I've also included a couple detailed resources about uploading transactions and system requirements for QuickBooks which may come in handy moving forward:
Please feel welcome to send a reply if there's any additional questions. Have a lovely day!
Sorry, I meant to say it DOES happen with a cleared cache and in an incognito window with no extensions.

Use the trial version of csv2qbo converter. Did you encounter the same problem?
https://www.moneythumb.com/?ref=110
It was likely a 2QBO issue then. I don't think I'd changed any settings from the previous time I'd converted a PDF statement to a .qbo file; but it's likely mapping issues then. Thank you!
I"m having the same problem. And the answer that was provided by QB saying it is solved is wrong. I can prove it because i tried to re-import a file that i did last week successfully and it doesn't work this week - SAME FILE. So something has changed on the QB side. The stupid answer that they gave to use csv is ridiculous. it's too much work to reform dates, combine columns, and then all the rules won't work because the import is different. Someone at Intuit needs to find out what changed in the last week. They either support QBO or they don't.
TO prove that it is a QB problem, not a QBO format wrong problem, i tried to re-import a file i did last week that imported perfectly, and today that exact same file won't import. There is a problem with QB. You need to report it and get it fixed.
None of this is helpful. I tried two separate computers, multiple browsers, and my remote bookkeeper tried from hers as well. To prove that it's a QB problem, we are importing the SAME small QBO from last week that imported without issue and this week it doesn't work. SAME FILE. Last week works, this week doesn't work.
Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, kwolck. I appreciate you performing some steps to fix the importing issue you encountered. I can see that things have been challenging for you when managing your bank data in QuickBooks Online. Let's ensure this is resolved.
Beforehand, may I ask which specific bank are you using, or did you receive a particular error when uploading entries using .qbo file? I appreciate any further details so I can present accurate information.
Please know that there are no changes or updates in QBO when importing bank transactions. Using a .qbo file is still possible on our end because it is designed particularly for QuickBooks. The process may fail due to changes in your financial institution or any requirement to authenticate your identity for security concerns.
For the time being, I recommend signing in to your bank's website and checking for messages, alerts, or updates. This is to determine whether your bank is undergoing maintenance or experiencing server issues.
Furthermore, you can also utilize the .csv file when syncing your bank transactions if you still experiencing the same issue. This this to ensure you can import efficiently and organize them properly in QBO.
Then, in case the problem continues to occur, you have to contact our QuickBooks Support Team. They have the tools to pull up your account and deeply investigate the cause of the issue, then report this matter and get it fixed as soon as possible.
Lastly, click on this article if you need help reviewing your downloaded transactions by matching or adding them in QBO: Categorize online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
You can always add a comment below if you still have concerns about uploading entries in QBO. I'll get back to you, kwolck. Have a good one!
this is a non answer. I have not been able to upload qbo files for the last week. Multiple calls and everyone saying there is nothing wrong when it is happening to everyone. There is no easier way to upload than with QBO but now apparently Intuit has done away with it with no notice to anyone. The CSV function is a pain in the neck!!! Intuit keep raising prices and is deleting services. You last update ruined the ability to upload a qbo file.
This is useless information and has zero to do with not being able to upload a qbo file.

Bank is Citizens Bank, but i'm going to show that's irrelevant here.
There MUST be a change. This is a very simple test. I downloaded a QBO file last week from the bank and imported it fine. The transactions are there and it is noted in the audit log. When i had trouble THIS week, i first suspected it was a problem with the bank download. So i REIMPORTED the QBO file from last week and it doesn't work. It's the SAME file. The audit log shows no import. It's not working. I tried multiple computers, multiple browsers and multiple users.
CSV is too much work and will cause me to have to change all my rules again. My bank feed on csv is complex; fields need to be trimmed; date needs to be reformatted because it doesn't have leading zeros, and i need to combine fields to get all the info into the description.
Please take the time to see the test with me or have someone do it before we say the issue is solved. Other users are saying it too. Something changed in the last week.
Thanks for supporting, Karen. If it's not all users having the problem, it might be something subtle that doesn't effect every file from every institution, but when a change was made to QB, it effected these particular files. I hope they answer me and let them test with my particular file that worked last week and doesn't work this week - same file. There's only a few records in it so i wasn't worried about dups. i'm just trying to prove the point.
Use the trial version of csv2qbo converter. Did you encounter the same problem?

Thanks. doesn't work for me. i can't wait for the statement, i need to import daily. I can download csv ffrom bank but there is so much that needs to be fixed in it before i can import
i have to open to Excel, change the date format, combine description fields to include check numbers, trim the description field and re-save as csv. I have 4 accounts every single day with thousands of transactions. It was fine with QBO. Can't believe this mess.
Has anyone had success with correcting this issue? I am having the same exact issue, have tried all suggested steps and no luck.
Please help!

I am having the same issue. Only some of the banking transaction pull in but not all of them. Anyone know a fix clearly QuickBooks doesn’t know how to fix their own software.
I hear your sentiments and how challenging it can be when some of the transactions are pulling in, while others are left out, @nch1870.
