Join nowI'll help make sure you can apply bank rules for your past transactions, @mark-drmarkbrown.
There are two possible reasons why you're unable to apply bank rules to your 2019 data. These are the following:
I can share the fixes needed to resolve the issue you're having. First, let's ensure to enable the said checkbox when creating bank rules. Let me show you how:
If you get the same result, then this is likely due to the outdated internet files in your browser. I can share another set of steps to fix this.
To start, I recommend using a private window or an incognito since it doesn't store cache when accessing your account.
The following are the shortcut keys you can use to access one:
Once done, please perform the same set of steps above. If it works fine this time, please go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. This helps to refresh and restore the default setup of the browser.
If the issue persists, I suggest using another supported browser instead.
If you want to modify your rules, you can always edit the rules you've created. To do that, go to the Gear icon, and then select Rules. Click the Edit link under the Action column to make changes.
Also, there are times you can't find your bank when adding it to QuickBooks. Here's a handy article you can use to fix this: Find your bank or credit card account when you connect to online banking.

OK, so if i go to check previously created rules, the [ ] for apply to prior transactions is now UNchecked, despite having been checked
i seem to have to go to each and every one of my 100 ruless to recheck the box
that doesn't seem correct?
Thanks for trying the troubleshooting steps provided by ReyJohn_D, mark-drmarkbrown.
I'd recommend reaching out to our Customer Care Team to review the situation further since the steps didn't work. They can review the system and provided additional steps to get this working. You can reach them using this link: Contact QuickBooks Self-Employed Support.
Keep us posted on how this goes so we can also investigate this matter.
Hi, I am having this same issue except for one major difference. I do not even have the option to apply to old transactions. Can you please help as I have to go through thousands of transactions and I can't get rules to work - at all.
We want this fixed as much as you do, MakoNerd.
If you performed the second solution provided by ReyJohn_D and still unable to apply the rules, I suggest reaching out to our customer care support. This way, an agent can take a better look at your issue.
