Then, you can go back to QuickBooks and try adding your bank account again.

Unfortunately, I’ve tried all the various options available for American Express. None pull up the American Express National Bank Business Checking product from American Express.
it is visible on the Amex website when I log in with my usual business card login info.
Thanks for visiting the support forum for QuickBooks again, @nadeemvaidya.
I can share some insights about this online banking setup matter.
If you're unable to see the bank you want to connect with after inputting the financial institution's name or link, it's most likely not yet supported by Intuit. Updates to our Online Banking processes like supporting certain banks that are not yet affiliated with us are handled by our engineers. Since they work on this internally, we're unable to provide any further details.
They release official updates based on the number of requests they have for your financial institution. To request support for your bank, follow these steps in your QuickBooks Online account:
As an alternative, you can download transactions from your bank's website manually by uploading them to QuickBooks Online.
Follow these steps if your bank can't connect to QuickBooks:
If you're new to QuickBooks, you may not have an account to upload the transactions into. If you don't see one, select Add New ▼ from the dropdown to create a new bank account.
For your reference, see the following links to import your transactions in QuickBooks:
If you have other concerns with our program besides this banking concern, please post here again. We are more than happy to help you out. Have a lovely day, and stay safe!
Another option, utilize MT Online as a workaround. It is designed to import into any bank or credit card in QuickBooks Online, so there is no specific setting needed.

Any updates on this? Here I am, 11 months later having the same issue. Why wouldn't this be an option by now? Please fix this. I submitted a request to "add the bank", but I have a feeling if it hasn't been added by now (11 months later), that request won't do much. Please assist!
I know this has been very challenging for you. I've got you covered, marcycpa.
I appreciate you for sending a request to add your bank as a financial institution for Online banking in QuickBooks Online (QBO). You may check your email address if you received an update on this request. You can also contact our Customer Support Team to check the update of your bank request.
On the other hand, if you are trying to connect your American Express Business card accounts, there are some possible reasons why you can't connect them. Among these are:
If you want to connect your American Express account to another company, just open the QuickBooks company it's currently connected to. Then, disconnect the account there and connect it again. If you couldn't complete the connection, disconnect the grayed-out account from the American Express website. Here's how:
All admins can manage American Express transactions, and this includes accounting firms you added to your QuickBooks company. Here's an article you can refer to for more details about connecting your American Express Business account to QuickBooks Online.
If none of the above steps solves the issue, you may still be able to download transactions from your bank's website and manually upload them to QuickBooks Online. Here's how to upload bank transactions through Web Connect or import bank transactions from an Excel CSV file into QBO.
When you're able to see the accounts with the downloaded bank entries, you can start categorizing them for your books. Check this article if you need a guide: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
I'm also adding this link in case you need help managing bank-related tasks: Find help with bank feeds and reconciling accounts.
Please know that you're always welcome to swing by anytime if you still have questions or concerns with bank accounts. I'm here to help. Take care and stay safe.
Thank you for providing that information. I disconnected everything and started all over, but it didn't work. It still only gives me the option to connect the credit cards. Checking account with AMEX is NOT an option when connecting with your steps.
Also... when I do this... Go to the American Express website. Tap the Account Services tab. Choose Security & Privacy. Hit Manage Partner Permissions and then Intuit to expand the section. Click Disconnect to stop the connection... there isn't ANYTHING listed. But, my cards are most definitely connected to QBO and synced for well over a year now.
Any other suggestions?
I appreciate you getting back to us and sharing the results, @marcycpa. I'll help you check to see if your bank is supported, and we'll go through some steps to be sure you can search on your end, too.
To start with the steps, you'll want to sign in to QuickBooks using a private browser. This step disables its extensions and stops the cache from saving your browsing history.
If there is a search result, you can go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. If not, please try other browsers to see if we get the same thing.
If the issue persists, I’d recommend contacting our Support Team. From there, one of our representatives can pull up your account and investigate this further. Please also take note of the support hours so we can address your concerns on time.

Very Typical. QBO still does not support American Express Business Checking. Its American Express, not like a new remote bank or something. With all the time Intuit puts in to creating ads to distract and sell me additional services in my QBO account, you think you would take the time to actually support real service and needs to let us do what we pay you for, which is keep our accounting and banking current. Lets get this resolved ASAP please. Xero Accounting is looking ever more promising as an option if Intuit keeps ignoring real necessary feature development requests from its clients. Come on Intuit, it is time to step it up and give us premium features and support for the premium price we are paying. Let's get this done!
I completely understand your frustration, ABS-JS1.
Please know that I hear you, and I want to help. Since you're unable to find the American Express Business Checking in the lists of supported Financial Institutions by Intuit, I recommend sending a request to add your bank as a financial institution for Online banking in QuickBooks Online.
You can follow my colleague Jen_D steps on how to send a request to your Bank.
In the meantime, you can add the transactions manually. I've added this reference as your guide: Manually add transactions in QuickBooks Online.

This is not anything new and still does not provide a resolution. Again this has been expressed by other clients that the lack of support to establish a connection is on Intuits. Other platforms have the connection, and I have called Amex support directly and they reaffirm that it is Intuit that has to support the connection. The oldest post on this request is 11+ months ago. Its a major bank, one that you have connectivity with. Please put this on higher priority and get this resolved.
I have been following the steps to add American Express Business CHECKING (not card) since about April 2022, sometimes daily, sometimes weekly, depending on my motivation to keep hitting my head against a brick wall. I have probably submitted about 25 requests in total to add a single bank and I have never received a response, follow-up, or any other information on my requests. I can understand the back-end work needed, but for Amex Checking to exist for about a year and no integration to one of the biggest names in accounting (Quicken), it's maddening. What's more upsetting is the beating-around-the-bush responses from Quicken/Intuit regarding this issue that users have been reporting on for months.
I wish I would have known this before I went with AmEx Business Checking. I just want to emphasize what these other users have already said - please make a connection to Amex Business Checking - NOT just the credit card!
Exactly. Seriously considering switching back to our BOA business checking. The high interest rate on the Amex business checking isn’t worth the inconvenience. I’m sure Amex would be thrilled to know they’re potentially losing business on one of their newest products due to Intuit/Quickbooks.
So it been 1 year and we still don't have a connection to amex business checking? Sad to see when companies get big they decide to go against the people who got them there. You don't get richer gatekeeping features from your clients. Add value to your people and the world and I promise you won't have to worry about your cashflow.
- message for the CEO and engineering team
Also telling us to just connect our CHECKING accounts using the CREDIT card login makes no sense at all. It all white noise. And I don't have time to chase after CSV files every month from AMEX and any other bank who isn't supported. Do what we pay you for, you guys are a accounting company.
And do not reply to this with some info that doesn't help at all. The only reply I want is the news that the connection was made.
I was considering signing up for Amex business checking but after reading this thread, I'm not going to. I can't have a bank that doesn't connect to QB.
Please create a connection for this. I just switched over to American Express Business Checking and there is no way to create the connection. I have tried talking to support and tried all of the steps and nothing works. Clearly there is enough demand for requests for this account to have Quickbook capabilities. PLEASE send this up the chain of command and do something about this because it is effecting customer satisfaction.
Hi lovelilies,
Thank you for trying the steps and for contacting our Support team. I believe you've been informed by them that the decision to provide feeds to QBO is between Intuit and American Express. Therefore, all we can do at the moment is wait until the option becomes available in the future.
I also encourage you to submit feedback on this matter in addition to the things you have done. Just click on the Gear icon and choose Feedback.
Alternatively, you can manually upload your transactions so you can work on them in QuickBooks.
Let me know if you have other questions in mind. Take care and have a good one.
Again, you are not reading (or choosing to ignore) other posts in this thread. I, among other customers, have followed the steps in Jen D's post, myself well over two dozen times, over several months, to request the American Express Business Checking account be added and provided the link, as requested. You are clearly dancing around the issue and failing to provide your customers with a transparent response as to why there has been no connection made between Amex Business Checking and Intuit.
Currently looking to open a business checking account with AmEx and this whole thread may have dissuaded me from doing so.
Clearly there is a desire for the integration can we get a transparent answer or idea of timeline for integration? Importing CSVs isn't sustainable and this seems to already be a major partner of yours...
A real update would be appreciated!
Just signed up for a amex business checking account and ended up here when I couldn't connect it to QBO. Any updates on this? Are we going to have connectivity soon or should I look elsewhere?
Seriously? Keep raising our fees while leaving issues like this for over a year...
