ERROR 557 I NEED TO USE PAYROLL CALL ME [removed phone number]

Good afternoon, @brandysautobody.


I hope all is well. The error you're receiving can mean that your payroll subscription is inactive. You can reactive it by using our Customer Account Management Portal (CAMPs) page. The steps below will show you how:


  1. Go to and sign in.
  2. On the Manage your QuickBooks page, choose the product or service you'd like to manage.
  3. Under Product & Services, select the Payroll Subscription tile.
  4. You'll see your subscription status under the blue toolbar, which should be Canceled.
  5. Press the Resubscribe link and validate your information in the Reactive Subscription field. 
  6. Hit Save and Continue, then review the Subscription details and billing information. Push Reactivate.
  7. A pop-up message will confirm the reactivation of your subscription, and you'll need to click Got it!

Keep in mind that it can take up to 24 hours to fully complete the process, and your subscription will show Active when it's finished.


You may find this article helpful if you want to active your subscription inside of your company file: Renew or reactivate your Desktop payroll service. After you resubscribe, you'll also want to make sure you have the latest QuickBooks Desktop release and download the latest payroll tax table release.

My problem is that I HAVE an active subscription and have tried everything to verify it.  When I sign on to I see that my subscription is active, but still I have not been able to get payroll updates or verify the subscription.  I have run the Quickbooks Tool Hub program and basically tried everything I could find on the Intuit support pages, but without being able to speak to a representative, I am at a standstill and I need to correct a paycheck that was printed w/out withholdings and I also need to pay my 941 taxes today!!!

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, SMQuinn. I appreciate that you took the extra steps to run the Quickbooks Tool Hub and use our Support Pages. If you need to connect with a representative, you can set up a callback through your program. Here's how:


1. In the top menu bar, go to Help, then QuickBooks Desktop Help.

2. Click Contact Us.

3. Enter a brief description of your issue.

4. Click Continue and choose the call back feature to connect with us.


Within a few minutes, one of the agents will contact you to investigate the matter in a secure environment. I have added a few articles to assist you with voiding and recreating a paycheck and how to pay your taxes.
