QBO will not let me run a paper check payroll

Hello!

I have activated Payroll, I have entered the employee info (that it allows me to enter), I am currently waiting for my 2 small deposits to activate direct deposit.

I have read in order to enter all prior payroll info from our QBD file on employees, I need to run payroll first.  I tried this w/ the paper check option.  It does not work. It just brings me back to the dashboard.  What is going on?  I need to be able to enter all of my 50+ employees prior info to get that done and over with before I run payroll next week.  I don't even have the option to edit any employee info (address, phone number, etc.)

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

QBO will not let me run a paper check payroll

I'd be glad to lend a hand,@BethatVIVO.

Running payroll using a paper check is quick and easy. As an initial step, let's turn off the direct deposit feature. Below are the steps to complete the process.

  1. Go to Payroll from the left menu.
  2. Select the Employees tab.
  3. Choose Run payroll.
  4. Select the direct deposit icon at the right of the employee's name.
  5. Select a Paper check.
  6. Preview and submit the rest of your payroll as you normally would.
  7. Finish the payroll and don't forget to print or write the paper check and give it to the employee.

QBO will not let me run a paper check payroll

Hello!

Unfortunately, I have none of those options.  The only thing it shows me is "Pay with paper checks".  If I click that it just brings me back to the main dashboard.  I'm not able to edit any employee info, nor is their even an option to do so. I don't even have the "Workers" tab you are referring to.

I'll share another steps to help you crate a paper check, BethatVIVO.

You might see an Employees or Payroll tab instead of Workers. Also, a possible browser issue might have keep routing you back to your Dashboard. Let me share some steps that can resolve common browsing issues in QuickBooks Online.

You can start the troubleshooting by logging in to your account using an incognito or private browsing session. Use these keyboard shortcuts to open an incognito session:

  • Ctrl Shift N  for Google Chrome
  • Ctrl Shift P  for Firefox
  • Control Option +if you're using Safari

After that, log back in and click the Pay with paper checks button again. If you're able to process the paychecks, make sure to go back to the regular browsing session and delete the stored cache and cookies if everything is already working fine. Here's a quick guide for more details: Clear cache and cookies.

Keep me posted if you still have follow-up questions. I'll be around to help you again.

QBO will not let me run a paper check payroll

Hello!

Thanks for the info, but that didn't work either.  Payroll support told me to do that as well when I was adding employees as it wouldn't allow me to do it outside of a private browsing session.  That part worked but doing this to run checks does not work and results in getting sent back to the dashboard.
