Has anyone had trouble getting NC unemployment wage base to update? Getting the payroll update is not working. Any help is appreciated....thanks.
Help has arrived, @Teri_Moore!
I'm here to ensure you'll see the latest 2021 North Carolina (NC) unemployment wage base.
I've checked our records and haven't found any issues about the recent NC unemployment rate. Meanwhile, I have some information to get you back up.
Updating the payroll tax table should update your State Unemployment wage base. Since this isn't in your case, I recommend contacting our support team for further help.
Here's how:
If you want to review your employee wage base and limits, you can run the Payroll Detail Review report. For more details, please see this article: View payroll tax wage bases and limits.

Thanks for your reply! I know how to change the tax rate, but there is nowhere to change the wage base or wage limit from 25,200 to 26,000, which is usually a part of the payroll update. Any suggestions?
Mine will not update either....I have the latest download …..so not sure why they are saying nothing is amiss.

Did you ever get the NC wage base to update?
I have gotten the payroll update multiple times and NC is not even listed as a state that has an update to the wage base for State Unemployment. I tried to do the online help thing and could never get through to a person who could help. Someone at QB needs to look into the fact that the NC unemployment wage base is now $26,000 and get that update added so it works for ALL EMPLOYERS IN NC!
I can imagine the state you’re in right now, @bwiles.
I recognize how important it is to file your taxes on time. Rest assured we’re working diligently to have this update as soon as possible.
Please do know that due to the pandemic we’re facing right now, we are running short on staff. Thus, you’ve experience longer waiting times in reaching out to our support team. I just got off the phone with QB support after 30 minutes. They kept having me run updates over and over. Still did not work. Then they tried to say I needed to login as as Admin, which I did, and still did not work. Then sent me an article on how to enter my rate update. That wasn't my question to begin with - the problem is the wage base limit is not updating for NC. That is not something a user can do. I run 3 different payroll companies and none of them are updating with new base wage rate so it seems obvious the rates for NC haven't been loaded yet. I am supposed to get a call back.
I am also a NC employer and have come here for the same question. This is a Quick books/ Intuit error. They have not put the update through. NC has has updated their Taxable Wage base from $25,200 to $26,000 for 2021. Intuit has not made the update on their side. I now have to run payroll this week with incorrect tax information. And bfore someone from inuit responds yes I have the lastest payroll update and ran thed "get payroll update " this morning and yet again NC is not listed. I have been checking on this and running payroll updates since Jan 1st when the rate should have changed.
Just a side note Intuit also has the incorrect address for filing our New Hire reporting as well.
I have also had trouble with the 941 and the medicare tax credit for the cares act not being applied correctly. Spoke to some one at Intuit they could not help and a supervisior was supposed to call back. that was 2 weekis ago.
I have been working with Quickbooks for 14 years and I can't believe the errors and problems I am having with the program this year.
QuickBooks needs to push the update to us as they have for every other state with new wage bases. The new tax rate information is available on the NC Department of Commerce website: https://des.nc.gov/employers/tax-rate-information
We do payroll for over 50 clients in various versions of QB Desktop and the wage limit is still not updated (after running the payroll updates)in any version. When will this be corrected?
I am also an NC employer having the same issue. Have you been able to figure out why the wage base limit is not updating?
NC Employer also, no update as of yet.....any news on when this will be done?????
No...and when I talked with support they said they had not gotten the update from NC yet.
As of today (1/24) after updating the payroll files, it still has not updated the Sui base for NC.
Tried contacting support but unable too. If someone can please advise them
Thanks
And now it's doing the same thing for 2022 - Wage base is $28,000, but Quickbooks is still showing $26,000.00 (Finally update 2021 - but took them forever to do that.)
Same problem here

I think the issue is more involved. My FUTA and SUTA taxable wages are completely incorrect for the 4th quarter 2021. Everything was fine through 3rd quarter and now employees that had maxed out in the 1st quarter now have unemployment taxes calculated. I have updated, verified data, and rebuilt file. Still incorrect.
Federal and State unemployment appear to be the only item affected that I have seen thus far. I am not having the change in wage base issue as Indiana has not changed in several years.
Thanks for reaching out to the Community, nwwoods1978.
I appreciate you detailing the troubleshooting steps you've taken so far. I'd also recommend confirming that you're updated to the latest payroll tax table.
