I have QB 2021 desktop pro, and out of the blue I am unable to access the payroll module to run payroll or create tax forms. It wants me to verify my identity, which I did, but it just bounces me back to the same verification page after I successfully enter the texted code. Anyone else having this problem? I am the administrator, and the only thing I can think of is that for my QBO clients, I was forced to change my Intuit password, but it accepted the new password on the verification page. Tried to download the update, and it says it's downloaded, but after I reboot, it still says to download the update. I am paid in full until August - no subscription issues.

Thank you. This fixed the problem and yay me, I had a current backup to restore.
Sadly, I am back where I started this morning and unable to access the payroll module. I ran the verify data and rebuild utilities, and there is an error when with total transactions not matching. When I restore the most recent backup, it doesn't solve the problem. After the last issue, the program worked, I finished financials, and the file I have right now has the correct balances for the balance sheet and p&l, but it won't let me into payroll, so perhaps the problem is there. Where to do I go to get more help?
Hello AKagm22!
Thanks for posting again here. Allow me to assist you in fixing the payroll.
I appreciate that you used the rebuild tool again. In addition, you'll want to update both QuickBooks Desktop and the tax table. This is to ensure that you have the latest patches and fixes to prevent issues. Please check these articles for the detailed steps:
Also, if this behavior continues, I suggest you do a clean install of the QuickBooks Desktop. This can fix any issues on your QuickBooks Desktop and the company file itself. Just make sure to have the product and license number ready because you'll need it when reinstalling it.

This did not help. I did a clean install, reopened the program, updated it, updated payroll, and I can still not get into the payroll section. Any other ideas? I need to run payroll.
We definitely want to make sure that you're able to access payroll again, AKagm22.
