I cannot download the QuickBooks Tool Hub, the message stated it could not find my account. I then called Support and they wanted to charge me $1,000 to fix file errors. I told them no thanks. I resolved the issue by downloading the program again, for each respective year that I needed. 1099-NEC forms are now aligned.
Hi, Quickbooks customer service does not seem to get that there is no way use align to fix the 1099 NEC forms as the top form (of the 3 form page) is printing too low and the bottom form (of the 3 form page) is printing too high. Only the form in the middle actually populates properly. I can't send these out! I will explain again in the hopes that quickbooks will stop sending us to align because that is not the issue!! There is a problem with the software. On my 3 form 1099 NEC page, in the top form, all the fields are being populated too low so that the numbers land in the line and are illegible. The middle form is perfect. The bottom form is populating at the top of each box. So you can't align the top form up without making the other two forms populate outside the relevant boxes. PLEASE FIX THIS.
I can see the urgency to fix printing issues with the form 1099, @AngieCB.
Let's run the Quick Fix my Program from the QuickBooks Tool. This will help us identify any component issues related to your QuickBooks Desktop.
Here's how:
Once done, try printing your 1099s again. If the issue persists, run the Verify and rebuild tools. This will help identify and self resolve commonly known data issues.

I had corrupt data supposedly. They fixed the 1099. But I had trouble with 1096. I
just printed it the way it was because it was annoying dealing with it
Hi thank you so much for responding. I did do the quickbooks tool hub quick fix my problems as you described but unfortunately it did not make any difference. Can you please give me instructions to find and run the verify and rebuild tools? Thank you, AngieCB
Actually I found the verify and rebuild tools, ran that and still the exact same problem with correctly populating the 1099 NEC exists. Please help. There is no way to use the alignment feature and make this work as the top form is too low and the bottom form is too high.
Hi again,
Also I have both quickbooks for Mac 2021 and quickbooks for Windows 2019. The quickbooks for Mac prints out the 1099NEC perfectly. So it is not an issue with the forms. It is an issue with quickbooks 2019 for Windows. I have tried the solutions you provided and it does not change anything. Also, even though it would be impossible to align these because one form is too high and one form is too low, it doesn't matter because when I click on align it crashes quickbooks every time. PLEASE HELP or it looks like I will be hand writing 100's of 1099s which really is impossible and also looks unprofessional. I have spent hours on this now. By the way the W2's print out perfectly so that's good. Please help with the 1099 NECS - thank you!
Thanks for performing the troubleshooting steps shared above, AngieCB.
Let me add some additional steps where you can adjust the alignment.

Hi thank you so much for responding. I have tried to use the align feature both within the print 1099 window and also within the printer setup window and quickbooks crashes every time. It also still crashes after the trouble shooting steps that you provided earlier. ~AngieCB

Hi, Ok I did this and it did not change the way the boxes on the 1099 NEC populate. It did temporarily solve the problem with the align feature crashing Quickbooks but when I used it more than once it went back to crashing. I was able to realign it a little which helped the top form but that made the bottom form worse. As I said in previous posts there is no way to fix this by aligning because one box is to high and one box is too low.
I appreciate everything that you've done to fix the issue with the 1099-NEC form printing , @AngieCB.

This post was almost correct if you are having trouble with Quickbooks crashing when trying to align the printing of your 2021 1099-NEC.
Under the File tab go to Printer Setup.
Then pick Form Name - go to 1099/1096's at the top of the column.
Choose Align and change the alignment. For me, I had to go Vertical 15+ (more than I thought I would need)
Click OK, another window comes up click OK again. DO NOT try to print from the alignment box - it will make the program crash.
Go back to the original print/efile 1099-NEC pages and print from there.

We (IT and I) have followed all of the steps that were outlined and it still doesn't work. I'm unable to align and print our 1099 forms, and the software is crashing on us with every attempt.
I am having the same problem.
We've done all of this and still crashing and not able to print forms correctly
They told me I had corrupt data. Fixed the 1099 but 1096 wouldn't print correctly. Now all of my reports are cut off at the top. I have to call them back but don't feel like dealing with it today.
Same problem here. I am going to print and let it go. The top box is one line off. The middle box is maybe half a line off, and the bottom is perfect. It is what it is. My OCD isn't happy, but in the end, everyone gets their forms and is happy.
I did everything Qbooks techs told us to do thru this whole feed. Nothing ever worked. I printed one form per page, thank goodness I did not have more then the number of forms I had. But I bet I look pretty stupid to the IRS for sending a whole page of 3 forms with only one form printed and I hope I don't get any S*%# from them. It's to bad QBooks is failing their customers. I understand the support team thru this feed is only doing their job but cut and paste of solutions and hopefully they can fix the error before next year so we don't have another 1099 fiasco. Good luck everyone and have a prosperous year.
Wondering if anyone has figured this out?? Still happening to me after updating QB.
Hi Deb_Hau,
I appreciate your time to post in this thread.
I can see that my colleagues have already provided a solution to fix the alignment issues. If you've already tried them but still experiencing the same thing, it's best to contact our QuickBooks Desktop Support so they can use more tools to check this further.
I just hyperlinked the solution and the contact details to avoid posting the same steps and to save your time from reading the same answers.
If there's any that you want to ask, feel free to go back to this thread. I'll be around to help.
I know how to align the forms to print the 1099's correctly. But every time I try I receive an error and QB shuts down. This is not acceptable. And yes I did purchase my forms from QB.
I appreciate you for joining the thread, @farmer3. I want to ensure you'll be able to print your 1099 in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) with no errors.
I can see that you're trying to prepare and align your form and the system shuts down when doing so. QuickBooks usually crashes when it's corrupted or there's damage in the company or installation file.
To isolate the issue, please make sure to update QuickBooks to the latest release as it becomes available to ensure you have all the updated components.
After that, reopen your QBDT file and print your 1099 again. If the error continues, you can check out this link for more troubleshooting steps: Solutions for when QuickBooks has stopped working.

That only aligns the whole document. The bottom one is perfect the Middle one is a slightly low, but the top one is way off.
I appreciate you bringing this to our attention and letting us know that you also experience the same outcome, Prosource.
