Direct deposit bank verification

"To complete bank verification, open the company file using the same QuickBooks version that you used to initiate activation"

This is what I see every day for the last week. I started activation with Premier and was convinced by QB to upgrade to Enterprise to save on DD fees. I still have Premier on one work station and still get this message. I've been on the phone for HOURS with different QB experts. There is one debit from our bank account so obviously something started. I just can't get past this message.....Also, my message is special, no one has seen this one yet. I'm told this has affected maybe 50 users since July or August, and they still can't use Direct Deposit.

I've already paid for Enterprise. To go back to Premier I will have to give my books to QB for a few days so they can do what they need to do and then they'll send it back to me and refund my money. I'm wary of this. I would really rather they fix the Direct Deposit issue. I've got a little less than 60 days to decide if I want to change back to Premier.

Any magic out there?

Direct deposit bank verification

Thanks for reaching out to the Community, Debbag1963. I appreciate all of your detailed information.

I've reviewed our ongoing/solved investigations and can confirm there's currently a record (INV-49328) about a "To complete bank verification, open the company file using the same QuickBooks version that you used to initiate activation" error message displaying when subscribers attempt activating direct deposit.

Presently, this is being worked by Intuit's Product Investigations Team. When you spoke with our Customer Care Team, you should've been added to the investigation. Once you've been listed as an affected user, you'll receive email communications from Intuit about any updates relating to the case.

If you're not certain that your account was added to the list, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care Team again. They can pull up your subscription in a secure environment, research the investigation record with you, and add your account to it if necessary.

In the event you were already informed that your account was added to the record, you'll want to keep an eye on your email's inbox for any news from our Product Investigations Team.

If there's any other questions, I'm just a post away. Have a wonderful day!

I was told I'm on the list to be notified. It would be nice to get a daily or at least weekly notification that things are being worked on. I have less than 60 days to decide if I want to switch back to Premiere. At this point I'm leaning towards that. It would be better if I get a refund and if this ever gets fixed for me I'd be happy to pay the prorated difference.

Direct deposit bank verification

I’m having the EXACT same problem. I’ve been on the phone with QB for days. Literally hours on end, and they don’t have any answers. The fun part is, my backup has direct deposit on it. But I can’t use my backup because it’s from 2 months ago! I was hoping for an answer on this thread but apparently not even QB can solve the problem. I’m at a loss.....

We are having the same message on a client that we have processed in 2019 version of Premier.  We have not changed QBs versions.  We also have issues with activating direct deposits in 2020 for other clients.  Has this issue been resolved?  If so, what do I need to do to get past this message to continue getting this client's direct deposit activated?  Thank you.

Thank you for your response.  With all do respect, your engineers have been working on payroll direct deposit issues since at least August.  I have this issue with this client and other client's I can't get their direct deposit activated at all.  I have talked with support numerous times on the phone as well as over chat to no avail.  The other post that I am linked to no longer receives responses from a QB representative.  I would greatly appreciate to know how long it will take for the engineers, that I have been rest assured are working on these issues, to have it corrected.  Thank you.

I have the exact same issue. What is going on Intuit? We have employees to pay that rely on direct deposit to not incur banking charges.

I've got the steps to help you pay a direct deposit to employees, tlouda.

After going through the investigation on this issue, you're now required to update your QuickBooks Desktop to its current release. Then, set up again the bank connection.

The current releases as of January 2021 are QB 2018 R16, QB 2019 R14, QB 2020 R10, and QB 2021 R4.

To ensure you have all the latest functions and features, I recommend downloading your version through this page: https://downloads.quickbooks.com/app/qbdt/products.

Before proceeding, make sure to create a backup copy of your file so you can go back later. Then, uninstall your current QuickBooks application and download the installer.

Once you open the link, you'll be asked to select a country. Then, follow these steps:

  1. Choose where you want to use QuickBooks on multiple computers, then Next.
  2. Select your county, the product, and the version.
  3. Click Search.
  4. Click Download and save the file somewhere you can easily find it.
  5. Prepare the product and license number.

Then, install the software by opening the file QuickBooks.exe. You can refer to this link for detailed steps: Install QuickBooks Desktop.

After installing and activating QuickBooks, you can restore the file. Then, set up a direct deposit for your company and employees so you can pay them.

Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with setting up your bank for the direct deposit payment. Just leave a comment below, and I'll get back to you.

Nice to have you joined this thread, Tom.

I'm here to ensure you'll be able to pay your employees via direct deposit (DD).

Have you tried the troubleshooting steps shared by my colleague MaryLandT above? If not, I recommend doing it so to get around the issue.

If you have and the issue persists, I suggest contacting our support team. One of our live agents can look into your account and investigate the cause why you're unable to set up DD in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

There, they can also share with you additional steps in fixing the issue. Let me show you how.

  1. Go to the Help menu and select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Give a brief description of your issue, then click Let's talk, and then choose a way to connect with them.

You can also see this link for more details and please ensure to check their support hours to know when agents are available: Contact QuickBooks Desktop support.

When everything is all set, you can now set up your company and employees for DD. Once done, you can now seamlessly pay your employees via DD.

If you have any other questions about DD or with your QBDT account, you're always welcome to add them in your reply. I'm always here ready to back you up anytime. Wishing you and your business continued success!
