Stop asking me have a verification code sent to me ANNOYING!

Hi there, @bhoidas.

Allow me to provide some insights about the verification codes that are sent to you when logging in to your account.

Intuit is committed to securing your information by providing advanced security tools and systems. The  two-step verification is an additional layer that strengthens the security of your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.

If this feature doesn't work for your business, then you have the option to turn it off.

Here's what you'll need to do if you're using the same phone number:

  1. Sign in to your Intuit account.
  2. Tap Sign In & Security from the left menu.
  3. In the “Two-step verification” section, click on Turn off.
  4. Enter the code.
  5. Select Continue.

If you're using a different phone number, you'll need first to update your phone number so you can log in to the account. Once done, you can now turn off the two-step verification.

For more information about this process, take a look at this article: Turn on or turn off two-step verification.

Be sure to let me know how else I can empower you to make QuickBooks work the way your business needs. I'm always here to help. Take care!

Hello there, @bhoidas.

I appreciate you reading the answer provided by one of my peers. Since the two-step verification is already off but you are still having the same issue. I'd recommend you clear your browser's cache.

Here's how:

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More More.
  3. Click More tools and then Clear browsing data.
  4. At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.
  5. Next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files," check the boxes.
  6. Click Clear data.

Most of the time, you only need to clear your browser's cache. But if you keep having the same problem even after doing that, you can clear Intuit-specific cookies. This helps refresh website preferences that might be causing problems when you use QuickBooks.

You can also contact QuickBooks products and services support if the issue persists.

Feel free to reach back out to me if I can be of more help with your concern about the two-step verification. I'll make sure to get back to you as soon as I can.

My two-step verification is also off, has always been off, and I've already cleared my Browsing Data but am still having the same problem.

I am not sure if this solution might help, but the problem might be connected to the IP address. If you are using a VPN like Express VPN that hides your IP address, I think it will ask everytime regardless.

20+ codes entered today.  YES IT'S ME INTUIT . Would be great if I could get some work done instead of having to enter a code over and over.

I have this issue as well! Very annoying. It's turned off, cookies and browsing data has also been cleared. Very frustrating. If anyone finds a solution, let me know!

Hello there, CaseyMc.

Two-step verification is a security setting where you confirm that you’re the one signing in to your account using your password and a unique code. Though it's turned off, you may still be required to enter a code. These are the factors that may trigger this:

  • Log in to a new device or new browser.
  • After clearing the browser's cache and history.

I'm adding this article that explains more the difference between Multi-factor authentication and Two-step verification: Verify your QBO account with multi-factor authentication or two-step verification.

Get back to this thread if you have any other questions. I'll be right here to help.

two-way authent is a must for any serious business. You would not like any personal data such as the email of your clients to be accessible by quickbooks hackers. So it needs to be on, but why can Intuit not make it PERSIST for AT LEAST 24 HOURS is a mystery!??

Please give us a reason / a browser where it works for instance!?

Chrome or Edge have the same experience, none of them remember that I am on the same home computer and should not be asked again after just 1 hour!

Hi nicofars,

Thank you for taking the time to join in on the thread. I've got some information about your concern.

I see the convenience of not having to authenticate every time you sign in to QBO. This is already a feature in your browsers. You'll want to be sure that their password-saving features are enabled and cookies are not autodeleted when you exit from a page. Please refer to your browser's manual or reach out to their support team about this.

My colleagues have shared good references for MFA, You can check them out when you need references for the said feature.

I'm just a comment away if you have other questions in mind. Have a good one!

thank you for your prompt response. However, I contacted Intuit support and they recommended likewise: clear cache, restart browser etc.. The result was: It works for a day, but after the machine is rebooted or browser restart, it STILL prompt for code. and again will prompt each time it logs oout (as you can see in this thread, many users are saying multiple times a day). And we CANNOT clear the cache each day! As we all have dozen of sites that work well with remembering the logins, so why should QB be adding more pain to all of them.

It's actually quite simple, QB login page should have a check box to "remember/trust this device" and the code behind to make that it does with the right cookies.

I have started having this issue as well the last month regardless of what I do or try how come QBO can't remember the device I am using.

I will await the standard copy and paste template response from Quickbooks....lol

We bought a new computer and I set up QB with an icon.  Didn’t have to have the code sent to me.  However, we had 2 web browsers on the computer.  Firefox and I think Edge.  My husband deleted Edge because he didn’t like it and now we are back to having to get the code sent to my phone.  So maybe try another browser.  I haven’t had a chance to mess with it to figure out if it will work for us but will in the next day or two.

What is the secret???...Every time programmers at quickbooks make a small change, they mess up something else. Your customers don't need to put up with your incompetence. Followed the instructions on how to turn off the verification code, and it will not let me turn it off.

Never had any problems with the desk top version.  Come January 1st, 2023, I am going back to the desktop version.

I'm having the same issue. I've tried clearing cookies (huge pain in the A) and cache.  Nothing works. It stopped doing it for a little while when I switched to 1Password, but then started asking for the code again last week after ensuring that I'm not a Robot (10x a day!). I did not change anything at all so no clue what caused it to stop recognizing my computer.  Like everyone else I have my 2-step verification turned OFF so this should not continue to happen.  QBO needs to have a "remember my computer for 30 days" option or just fix this problem.  So many issues with QBO - the only reason I'm using it is because one of my clients has it.  Thankfully my other clients use different systems. Not impressed.

Relief.  I had this exact same problem and it was driving me nuts.  Turn off 2-factor, clear cache, didn't matter.  Finally I tried disabling my Ad Blocker for Intuit.com and I can joyfully sign in without the stupid verification EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Haaa... not having an Ad blocker so not doing the trick for me

I just called support and logged a ticket and asked them to keep it open until someone actually calls me to test it on my screen.

To be continued....

I have contacted support and they have sent this through after 30mins trying to do stuff on my computer....I've tried 4 different browsers and still have the same issue. No other issue with any other site or program other than Quickbooks. If this is not sorted soon I will be going to a different program.

Good day! I hope you are well.

I received a feedback from our engineers and they mentioned that the reason why you are always asked to verify your account each time you login is because of the added security in your device or browser. Possibly it is included during operating system update. You may also reach out to your IT department on your company or an IT guy to disable this feature on your device.

You've been a valued customer and we want to make sure you get the right assistance you deserve. Feel free to contact us if you have concern and we are more than willing to help you.

It has been a pleasure to be of service. More power to you and your business.

Have a lovely day and stay safe!

Incredible, isn't it?

and the FIRST thing they always ask when I speak to them about it (every 6 months!) is "if you disable dual authentication, then you won't be prompted" .... argh.....

seriously bad bad service!

You can buy as many companies as you can for billions, but if you can't fix a simple feature, it will definitely push users away from these products.

Myself stopped using MailChimp as soon as they bought it! As it will get worse over time by Intuit doing.
