We're using payroll Core (QBO) - where do I find the 941 and state unemployment reports?

They aren't listed under "Reports" and don't show in the "Payroll" section either.

Good day, lj-ywca.

I'd love to help you find the 941 and State Unemployment reports in QuickBooks Online Payroll Core. Both reports can be found on your Payroll Settings.

Here's how to locate the Federal 941:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and choose Payroll Settings.
  2. Click the Pencil icon for Federal tax.
  3. From the Company Federal Tax Information, fill in the information. Then, click OK.

Here's how to locate the State Unemployment report:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and choose Payroll Settings.
  2. Choose the State name tax (sample screenshot shows California tax). Then click the Pencil icon beside it.
  3. From the State Tax Information, fill in the necessary information and click OK.

This shows me how to set up those filings, but doesn't show the actual reports. I need to print the reports - where are they?

Was an answer ever given for this? I need to find the same thing. QBO seems to think that these reports aren't necessary for us, as they're the ones filing them. At the very least clients need them for their workers comp audits! Where are the reports?!

I hear your sentiments, @Tidler.

I have another way on how you can view your filed payroll forms or reports. Let me guide you how:

  1. Go to the Taxes menu, and then choose the Payroll Tax tab.
  2. Select the Forms tab.
  3. Choose the Quarterly and Annual Forms section to see the said forms.

You also have the option to print them to keep a copy for future use. To learn more about this, please see this article: View and print payroll forms.

Additionally, you can turn off the auto-filing feature in QuickBooks Online Payroll. This way, you can file your taxes manually moving forward.

Lastly, you can take advantage of the different payroll reports to monitor your business finances.

I'm always here to help if you have other payroll-related concerns. Just add your comment below so I can assist you right away.
