QuickBooks Pro 2011 Upgrading to new Quickbooks version

However when I download it appears to be a non-trial .exe. I get to the install screen where it asks for a license and product number. Where do I get those for a trial?

Thanks Morgan,

What is the name of the file that you download? For me it's QuickBooksPro2014.exe. When I run it, it eventually asks for a license and product number. Since I am trying to use a trial, I likely need a trial license like as specified in https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/new-subscriptions/download-a-trial-of-quickbooks-d... but that is the 2021 version. When you run the downloaded file does it also ask for a license? Where do I get that?

Thanks for coming back to the Community, Andrew R.

Let me point you in the right direction, so you can upgrade your QuickBooks 2011 to 2021.

When you install older QuickBooks versions, it will not ask for the license number unless it’s previously installed. Also, the 30-day free trial automatically downloads and the product and license numbers can be found here.

If it asks for the license and product information, rename the entitlement file. For detailed instructions, perform Solution 2 in this guide: Fix license, validation, and registration errors in QuickBooks Desktop.

When you encounter any installation or activation issues, these resources outline the complete instructions on how to resolve them.

Thanks Rasa-Lila,

I tried renaming my entitlement file. The 2014 installation still asks for my license & product numbers. I tried using the ones on the trial download page for 2021 version but it says that the numbers are wrong. Doesn't each trial year need its own different license? Those links you provided are for errors. The only error I get is about the license numbers being wrong. I have a doubt that I have the needed trial license numbers for the 2014 trial version.

Good day, Andrew R. I'm here to help ensure you're able to install and use our QuickBooks Desktop trial version without errors.

Performing a clean install is a good start when it comes to fixing program-related issues in QuickBooks Desktop.

Here's how: Step 1: Remove QuickBooks:

  1. Open the Windows Start menu. Search for “Control Panel”, then open Control Panel.
  2. Select Programs and Features or Uninstall a Program.
  3. From the list of programs, select your version of QuickBooks Desktop you want to uninstall.
  4. Click Uninstall/Change and then Remove.  Select Next.  If you don’t see this option, sign out and sign back into Windows as an admin (or a user with admin rights).

Once done, you can follow the steps in this article to re-install your QuickBooks DesktopInstall QuickBooks Desktop. To help you with managing your product subscription, you can take a look at this article: Manage your QuickBooks Desktop subscriptions and services. This will give you steps on where you can find your service information.

Let me know the result of this troubleshooting in the comment below. I need to make sure this is resolved and you're able to use our desktop trial without errors. All the best!

Can you tell me what are the license & product numbers for the QBDT Pro 2014 trial? I don't have those and it seems that I need them to complete the install of the 2014 trial.

QuickBooks Pro 2011 Upgrading to new Quickbooks version

Before I started asking here in the forums I spent 2.5 hours on chat with four different agents. Some of the agents seemed to be investigating for the answer. Every half hour, I would ask "are you still there?" and then I would get a new agent. Pretty bad experience. They didn't seem to know anything about trial versions.

My old computer has Qucikbooks Pro 2011 and I am moving to a new computer. With it being Windows 10 I know I will have to upgrade to a new Quickbooks. I've read some on here say migrating to say QuickBooks 2019 from older Quickbooks software causes file issues. Is the smarter thing to do is buy Quickbooks 15 or 16 ? Appreciate any help

@Page78

Do you wish upgrading your data from QBD 2011 to QBD 2021, or else?

You may try installing QBD 2011 on compatibility mode Win 7 or utilize Hyper-V if you are using Win 10 Pro to install Win 7 on it.
