Join nowThanks Morgan,
What is the name of the file that you download? For me it's QuickBooksPro2014.exe. When I run it, it eventually asks for a license and product number. Since I am trying to use a trial, I likely need a trial license like as specified in https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/new-subscriptions/download-a-trial-of-quickbooks-d... but that is the 2021 version. When you run the downloaded file does it also ask for a license? Where do I get that?
Thanks for coming back to the Community, Andrew R.
Let me point you in the right direction, so you can upgrade your QuickBooks 2011 to 2021.
When you install older QuickBooks versions, it will not ask for the license number unless it’s previously installed. Also, the 30-day free trial automatically downloads and the product and license numbers can be found here.
If it asks for the license and product information, rename the entitlement file. For detailed instructions, perform Solution 2 in this guide: Fix license, validation, and registration errors in QuickBooks Desktop.
When you encounter any installation or activation issues, these resources outline the complete instructions on how to resolve them.
Reach out to me again if you need more help with QuickBooks. I've always got your back. Have a great day!
Thanks Rasa-Lila,
I tried renaming my entitlement file. The 2014 installation still asks for my license & product numbers. I tried using the ones on the trial download page for 2021 version but it says that the numbers are wrong. Doesn't each trial year need its own different license? Those links you provided are for errors. The only error I get is about the license numbers being wrong. I have a doubt that I have the needed trial license numbers for the 2014 trial version.

Can you tell me what are the license & product numbers for the QBDT Pro 2014 trial? I don't have those and it seems that I need them to complete the install of the 2014 trial.

Before I started asking here in the forums I spent 2.5 hours on chat with four different agents. Some of the agents seemed to be investigating for the answer. Every half hour, I would ask "are you still there?" and then I would get a new agent. Pretty bad experience. They didn't seem to know anything about trial versions.

I've read some on here say migrating to say QuickBooks 2019 from older Quickbooks software causes file issues. Is the smarter thing to do is buy Quickbooks 15 or 16 ? Appreciate any help
Do you wish upgrading your data from QBD 2011 to QBD 2021, or else?
You may try installing QBD 2011 on compatibility mode Win 7 or utilize Hyper-V if you are using Win 10 Pro to install Win 7 on it.
