lost my file can’t find it
Help please
Hi Agui, I appreciate you bringing this up. Let's work together to find your file and ensure everything is back on track.
To help locate your lost QuickBooks Desktop file, use the Windows Search and type QBW on your computer. Then, check the default folders or the folder where you usually save files.
If you can't find the file on your system, I recommend checking the Recycle Bin to restore it.
Afterward, open QuickBooks Desktop and navigate to the File menu. Then, click Open Recent Company.
Alternatively, if you set up Intuit Data Protect to back up your file, you can securely access and view your QuickBooks files anytime.
If you have other questions, let us know below. We're still here to help.
Did you reinstall QB on the new PC or else?
I had to reload QuickBooks because of computer problems now I cannot get in. I am using a 2012 version. Is there anyway I can get the data off? I was just ready to print my reports for the accountant and it knocked me out.
Thanks for following along and sharing your concerns, @Lbeller.
Are you receiving any error messages when trying to get into the company file? Or what issues are occurring?
If you only wish to pull your data, you can always install a newer trial version of QuickBooks, then extract your data. However, please know if you upgrade your company file to a newer version, your company file can no longer be opened in the older 2012 version.
Before you start, please make sure your computer meets minimum requirements to install QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise 24.0.
Important: Don't try to register the trial. If you try to register, it could lock you out of QuickBooks.
You'll want to save the trial install file somewhere you can find it, like on your desktop screen. You don't need any codes to open the trial.
Once you have installed the trial version, you'll need to open and upgrade your company file. Here's how:
That should do the trick. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns. Take care!
Will you get back to me asap
I do not have a current back up. I was just ready to back up when it kicked me out. My question is can I open that 2012 version to get the data off?
Try to reinstall your QB program. Another option, use the trial license to open your company file.
