1099-NEC printing 2019 not 2020

I am in the 1099 wizard and would like to run my 2020 1099s for the year. For some reason the report detail for 1099-NEC is showing 2019 and not 2020. I can change the report  manually but it will not populate the 1099 that will print. I have even predated an entry for January 2021 to see if that would help.  How do run the 1099-NEC for 2020 on Dec 30, 2020.

It's good to hear from you today, MHC.

Helping you print your 1099-NEC for 2020 is my priority. Downloading the latest tax table is a good start when it comes to fixing form-related issues in QuickBooks Desktop.

After that, let's update your QuickBooks Desktop to its latest release to synchronize the changes.

Here's how:

  1. Click Help at the top menu bar and choose Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Go to the Update Now tab.
  3. Select the Reset Update and click Get Updates to start the download.
  4. Once done. Hit OK and restart QuickBooks.
  5. When prompted, accept the option to install the new release.

Once done, click File at the top menu bar and choose 1099's/1096. For more information about the printing process, go through this article: How do I print my 1099 forms?.

You can visit this write-up to know more about the new 1099-NEC form as well as a link on how to file them in QuickBooks: Understanding payment categories for the 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC.

If you have additional questions about 1099-NEC or need help with printing other forms in QuickBooks, please let me know. I'll be here to lend a hand. Have a good one.

I appreciate the details you've shared with us in the Community, @thunderridgeoffice.

I can see that your concern about the 1099 NEC form is still showing the 2019 data. Since you've already updated the program, I'd recommend getting in touch with one of our live agents from QuickBooks Desktop Care Team. They have the tools to verify your account and help you get to the bottom of this.

Here's how to contact them:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Click QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Click Contact us.
  4. Enter your concern such as "1099 NEC is getting the 2019 data not the 2020," and follow the on-screen steps to get in touch with one of our agent.

1099-NEC printing 2019 not 2020

I am having the same issue, it is pulling only my 2019 data. I have downloaded all updates and made sure i am running the most current version. I can see 1099 NEC info has been added to my QB and it looks like its ready to process my 2019 1099's, but then it only pulls the 2019 data and I cannot get it to pull the 2020 data. Help! I am very frustrated.

Hello there, @Cocalis.

Let's isolate this unexpected behavior when generating your 1099-NEC form by running the verify and rebuild tool. This will help us identify the common data issues within your company file. Here's how:

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Tap Utilities then Verify Data.
  3. Click OK on the prompt.

To Rebuild Data:

  1. Click the File menu.
  2. Go to Utilities and select Rebuild Data.
  3. Hit OK to back up your company file.
  4. Wait until the Rebuild is complete.
  5. Click View Results.

Once completed, close your QuickBooks company file to make sure all of your payroll components are updated. Now, you can try preparing the 1099-NEC form again. You can read through this article for more detailed instructions in resolving data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file: Fix data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file

If the issue persists, I’d recommend reaching out to our Technical Support Team. A specialist will be able to conduct a deeper investigation on the root cause of the issue and perform a secured remote access session with you.

Lastly, you can check this article about year-end business activities: Year-end guide and checklist.

Get back to us here if you have other questions or concerns about preparing 1099 forms in QuickBooks.  I'm always here to help.

I verified and then rebuilt the data and it still shows 2019 when I run the 1099 detail report. Could it be that I have "Account's Changes Pending?" Forgot that our tax accountants have the file for year end adjusting entries for deprecation etc. Maybe that is the reason.

Hello, MHC.

The Accountant's copy status won't affect the program updates, including getting the latest payroll forms. You can check this article for more information about the restrictions: Use the Accountant's Copy.

Something might be preventing you from getting the 2020's 1099 form. I appreciate your time doing the Verify and Rebuild data.

At this point, it's best to reach out to our phone support. They can check your QuickBooks Desktop copy and "force" the program to get the 1099 for 2020. Here's how:

  1. Open the Help menu, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help
  2. Click the Contact us link at the bottom of the pop-up window.
  3. On the new pop-up window, choose a topic.
  4. Scroll down and choose how you want to reach us (phone or chat).

None of the instructions I have received so far from Intuit representatives work.  Quickbooks is still stuck on year 2019 1099s.  This situation needs to be resolved soon, since 1099s will soon be due.  I suggest representatives escalate this situation and resolve this problem.
