Accessing the Import Data - Journal Entries - Error 404

Hi,

I'm having trouble accessing the Import Data - Journal Entries page in my sandbox. When I click on Settings > Import Data > Journal Entries, I receive an error message: "We're sorry, we can't find the page you requested. You may have incorrectly typed the address (URL) or clicked on an outdated link."

Could you please advise on how to resolve this issue?

Thank you.

Accessing the Import Data - Journal Entries - Error 404

Hello there, @vstrnad. I'll point you in the right direction to help you get through this and import data from QuickBooks Online (QBO) to Sandbox.

One of our colleagues answered your previous post about how to resolve the error received when importing journal data from QBO to your Sandbox account. We recommend checking this page to see the response: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/other-questions/re-journal-entries-import-error-40...

Furthermore, here's an article to help you handle journal entries inside the program: Reverse or delete a journal entry in QuickBooks Online.

Accessing the Import Data - Journal Entries - Error 404

Hi,

I reached out to Intuit Developer Support, and they referred me to the Product Community Forum. However, I'm finding that both teams are directing me back and forth without resolving my issue. Can someone here assist me?

Thank you.

Accessing the Import Data - Journal Entries - Error 404

Thanks for getting back with the Community, vstrnad.

If you're encountering a "We're sorry, we can't find the page you requested. You may have incorrectly typed the address (URL) or clicked on an outdated link." message while trying to import journal entries, its possible you may not be signing in as a user with permissions to make changes to journal entries.

There's a few different user types that have access to make changes to journal entries:

  • Primary admin
  • Company admin
  • Standard all access
  • In house accountant
  • Accounts receivable manager
  • Custom user (if you're using an Advanced subscription)

You'll want to confirm you're signing in as one of the above-mentioned users with full access to make changes to journal entries.

Here's how to manage user roles or permissions if necessary:

  1. Use your Gear icon.
  2. Go to Manage users.
  3. Find the user you want to edit.
  4. Click your Edit option in the Action column.
  5. Hit your Roles ▼ drop-down list to choose an appropriate role.
  6. Specify the account management settings you want to manage.
  7. Select Save.

In the event you made changes to a user's roles or permissions, you'll want to have them sign out, then back in for QuickBooks to recognize your changes.

I've also included a few detailed resources about managing users which may come in handy moving forward:

Please don't hesitate to send a reply if there's any additional questions. Have an awesome Wednesday!

Accessing the Import Data - Journal Entries - Error 404

Hi Zack,

I’m encountering a similar problem to OP in regards to that error message popping up as I try to import data.

The primary admin at my organization assigned me to a role that gave me permissions to adjust journal entries and view banks accounts/records, but by doing so I can no longer import bill data and am receiving that error code.

What role/permissions can I be assigned that would allow me to make journal entries as well as import data in QBO?

I can see why you're unable to import journal entries in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @MargieB1. Let me share the details so you'll be equipped with the information concerning roles and access.

The application shares various roles that help business owners assign particular positions that are limited to specific tasks in the company file. In order to make journal entries and import data at the same time, you can ask your company admin to assign you the Standard All Access role, which provides you with the option to perform the following tasks.

Since you have already been added as one of the users in the company, you can have your company admin make changes to your access by following the steps below:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Manage Users.
  2. Select the Roles tab and click Edit under the Action column.
  3. Choose Standard All Access.
  4. Enter a Role name, and Description, then select Save Changes.

You can also review the available positions you can have and access details in this article: User roles and access rights in QuickBooks Online.

Moreover, you can double-check the data you have migrated to the application to see if everything was moved accordingly. To do so, you can run reports to see the transactions you have imported.

I'm always around the Community if you need additional assistance aside from roles and access. Stay safe!
