Someone named "Jerry" called from Quickbooks support to update my CC info for the "annual renewal fee, since the card we have on file has been declined..."  He called from [removed]...heavy Indian accent, btw, and told me to call [removed], ask for Jerry, to give him the new CC info...not going to happen...!

That same number has called twice saying my card info for annual payment is not going through and to call with a new card [removed]. Does not sound legit.

Call from "Quickbooks Support Team" - Fraud?

Received a call from [removed] saying they were from Quickbooks Pro and that they are cancelling our subscription because our card number on file has expired. Our card number has already been updated. Is this a valid Quickbooks Pro customer service number?

Call from "Quickbooks Support Team" - Fraud?

Got a call myself today from an 833 number. They were looking for the Quickbooks subscription holder for Accounts Payable.  As QB has never called us regarding updating a subscription I figured it was a scam.  I get the email reminder and I feel assured that I am not being a victim of scammers by going directly to Quickbooks without a middle company.

I must have gotten the same call from "Dan"  seems kind of fishy if you ask me.  Googled the number and it says it was a fraud from back in 2019

I have noticed, over the past few years, that they start calling every Feb/March.

You just have to let them know that you know that it's a fraud or scam call.  That's when they stop calling... until the next  year.

Call from "Quickbooks Support Team" - Fraud?

Hi all

I also received a phone call from 844-542-0379. They left a message claiming to be from UBS Quickbooks (?).  They said "the payment method on file has been declined".   I need to call back to resolve this issue to continue with my services.  HMMM.  NOPE not gonna go there.

Call from "Quickbooks Support Team" - Fraud?

I just got scammed by this same group! I called for tech support, they seemed very legit, and helped me solve the problem...but said that in order to fix the problem I needed to pay a 3 year subscription to prevent further problems, which I did. Problem was solved. I paid $3,000.00 for said subscription, However none of this correspondence is shown in my quickbooks account, or with the intuit quickbooks people.  Indian group.  None of the tech numbers work.  The bank withdrawal was for QB Services.  Having to change all my bank info now, SO FRUSTRATING!

I hear your sentiments, @BHunt1. I'm here to share how these fraud calls from parties claiming to be affiliated with Intuit can be prevented.

I want to inform you that Intuit will only initiate contact if you request a call back from our support about an issue in QuickBooks. Also, outbound calls from a QuickBooks representative should not ask for any personal information.

Moreover, please don't hesitate to report any suspicious calls from parties claiming to be from Intuit. You can visit our Online Security Center to report the incident.

Here's how:

  1. Go to this link: https://security.intuit.com/contact-us.
  2. Look for Report technical support scams.
  3. Click Report tech support scams.

You can also report any suspicious calls and fraudulent acts directly to us by emailing them to spoof@intuit.com.

Since the Community is a peer-to-peer forum, it would be best to reach out to our QuickBooks Desktop Support to have this investigated. Agents have the necessary tools to check your account in a secure environment.

In addition, I'd recommend browsing this article for you to easily recognize official Intuit correspondence and websites: Identify Suspicious Activity, Phishing Scams, and Potential Fraud.

In case you have any other QuickBooks concerns in the future, you may check out our self-help articles: Help articles for QuickBooks.

Let me know if you need anything else or if you have additional QuickBooks concerns. I'm always here to help.

Call from "Quickbooks Support Team" - Fraud?

I got scammed by this group, too.  I googled quickbooks help numbers.  The original number I had for support was not answering, so I tried this new number:  877-382-1557.  I had a 2 minute phone call with a guy who said he would have the supervisor call me back. The number the new caller called from was 844-311-1001.  He claimed to be Intuit support.  I told him I had just gotten off with quickbooks a couple days ago (was charged for that support call as well) and the support guy said if I needed anything else in the next 9 days, to give a call back.  So the new caller knew I was looking for quickbook support.

He said he could help me with it.  I fell for it, thinking it was quickbooks/intuit.  The new caller said my computer was not syncing with Quickbooks and had to be updated.  I had been getting warning (legit warning from quickbooks) that there was an update available.

This guy charged me $499.99 for the fix and 30 days for any follow up services.  He also tried to upsell me to take the 699.99 version to have support for the year.  I hate that these guys are getting away with this.  It's hard to know who to trust.  I think I will be moving my accounting to another company.  Very frustrating.

@CLABBILLING

You (and your team/family) should do these steps as a habit now

1. When you receive an e-mail seemingly from a well-known company, start with checking where it really came from. If the sender’s address includes a meaningless jumble of numbers and letters, random words or an unusual domain, it’s more than likely a scam.
2. Don’t follow links in e-mails and notifications, even if you think you know the sender; it’s always better to open sites from your bookmarks or a search engine, or to enter URLs manually if you know them by heart.
