You can purchase additional licenses if you need more users to access your QuickBooks Desktop company file simultaneously.

 

To find the current pricing information for adding users to your license, here's what you need to do:

  1. Open your QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2019. 
  2. Go to the Help menu.
  3. Choose Manage My License and then choose Buy Additional User License.
  4. Click the Add Seats Online link for current pricing.

The price should be $299/seat. You may also purchase it thru a partner/reseller for less than $250.

Yes, that situation you mentioned above is possible. 

 

You'll need to set up a multi-user network for QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). The first thing you need to do is to have a single computer that will act as the host for your company file. 

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Select Custom and Network install for the install type, then hit Next.
  2. Choose the option that describes how you’ll use QuickBooks.
  3. On the next screen, tap Change the install location.
  4. Press Browse to decide where to install.
  5. Click Next to start, then Open QuickBooks to start.

If you have a subscription license, (in our experiences), you are not allowed to add/remove any seat. You have to cancel your current subscription and purchase a new one.

Hello @BH2, happy to have you here in the Community! To have less seats, you would need to purchase another license with fewer users. This is best accomplished by contacting support. 

  1. Open QuickBooks.
  2. Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Select Contact Us.
  4. Give a brief description of your issue, then select Let's talk and then choose a way to connect.

I actually just upgraded to qb 2022. I have qb pro 2022. I've been trying to ad an additional user license for weeks now. I'm very frustrated.  When I click through to buy a license the only option I get is to call. I've done that and 3 qb people and 2.5 hours later I still don't have it.  It says I need an activation code. The one the qb rep gave me would not work.  Do you have any further help you could provide?

There are two ways to activate your license. You can do it manually (without a validation code) or get the validation code from our representatives online.

 

To manually register the program, follow the steps below:

 

  1. Open QuickBooks.
  2. From the QuickBooks menu, select Register QuickBooks.
  3. Enter the License and Product numbers, and select Next.
  4. Select Register Online and follow the steps on the screen to complete your registration.

 

If you're still unable to register using the manual process, I highly recommend getting in touch with our representatives. I know you've contacted them, but they have the tools available to check your account in a secure environment and provide the correct validation code.

We have QB Primier Edition 2013 with 3 users.  Is it still possible to buy additional user license to increase number of users from 3 to 5? How much?

QB Desktop 2013 is outdated. Consider to purchase the one time license for QB Desktop 2020 or 2021 Premier edition for 5 users to upgrade your version.

In QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), the number of licenses depends on the version. In your situation, since you're using QBDT Premier, it allows up to 5 users to work on a company file simultaneously. 

 

However, as Fiat Lux - ASIA says, QBDT 2013 is already outdated. You can still use your account without the add-on services. But, you'll no longer receive any critical updates starting June 01, 2022. And you may need to consider purchasing the one time license for QB Desktop 2020 or 2021 Premier edition. If you want to upgrade your QuickBooks Desktop, see this article for more information: Upgrade QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, or Enterprise.
