I just installed QBPro2019 to update from Pro2016. No problem opening 2016 company files in 2019 software, restored without issue. But, every time I back up a file, there are errors.... Ran rebuild file... some errors fixed, but Error 195 (4) couldn't fix. I checked for updates in Pro2019, restarted computer, opened QB Co File, tried backup again-same error!
The only reference to 'Error 195' links to user so f...ng angry, referencing QB "Non-Customer Support" on day 4 of waiting for the promised call within 24hrs. He asserted "You've grown too fast and customer can't keep up!" "...needs complete overhaul." Being a user since Intuit launched QB from a 3-man office in Novato, CA in 1980s, I would have to agree with the assertion!
My company files will not backup without errors! The only help available is a default link to generic list of errors or discussion room w/ other desperate QB customers who may or may not have resolved their problems... we don't know, can't ask because Admin. was offended and closed thread? Where is the QB SUPPORT promised WITH newly PURCHASED SOFTWARE?
News Flash-I'm another angry customer who is begging the professional community to design a competing software that will put QB B.S. on notice!
How big is your file size? To isolate the issue, open your data file on trial license of QBD 2020
Hope it helps.
I don't want to download, install, restore my company files to yet another version of QB to spend another 8hrs trying to 'isolate' what is clearly a tech support issue. Why is this my problem on my dime? Where the hell is QB support?
I appreciate you for performing some steps to fix this error, iammoe62.
At this time, it's best to reach out to our Phone Support team. An agent will take a look at your account. I will also escalate this issue to our Technical Support Department. This way, they will find the root cause of why you're getting a 195 error when trying back up the company file.
Here are the steps on how to get in touch with our Phone Support agents:
You can also take a look at restoring a backup copy of your company file for more information.
I'm just a post away if you still need my assistance!
Any resolution on the 195 error? I have the 2019 quickbooks desktop version. I called in one day asking about accepting credit card payments. Ever since that day the something has changed and every time i back up i get an error 195 and have to run a rebuild. It has me pretty nervous about my company file. Your data file may be damaged. Contact and ask Intuit Data Service to fix it. Otherwise, consider purchasing a 3rd party file repair service.
Use a third party repair service gets the job done with guaranteed results.
Files are repaired in the same version of QuickBooks which means you wont be forced
to upgrade to the latest version of QuickBooks. Most data recovery service comes with
a money-back guarantee and so you don’t pay really pay anything if the error isnt fixed.
PM me if you need a recommendation.
Are you able to click on the error code and get more details? When I had this issue, I clicked on Error Code 195 and it told me that one of my bank accounts was activated for bank feeds and had an invalid account number attached. As soon as I removed that account number and deactivated that account, I was able to back up without running a rebuild.
I'm in the same boat. How did you "deactivate" the invalid account? I have the same error, but I can't delete the account, it says it's a request to retrieve statement from the bank and cannot be deleted or edited. Thanks. Mike.
Let's resolve the error you received, Mike.
Error 195 exists when verifying and rebuilding company files or deleting bank accounts. It is triggered by an invalid account or routing number on the accounts that have a bank feed connection.
cdbusch is right. You can edit the account and remove the numbers. Then, delete the account after. Please feel free to share an update after trying this step.
On the other hand, we published blogs related to the current situation today. I'm inviting you to have a quick glance at them. Have a good one!
I had to clear the account number field before I could deactivate.
I was having the same problem - every time I tried to back up I had to rebuild the data file and got error 195 that could not be fixed. I clicked on the error message and it said something about an invalid bank account number. I deactivated all of my online banking and the file backed up no problem! Give it a shot. I normally download a qbo file from my bank and import separately. Good luck to y'all!
With Chat Support, using my Accountants' version, we could not get the Error 195 to disappear, case number [removed]. Each time, we tried to deactivate the closed credit card Bank Feed, the 2019 QBD 'bombed'- Before and after running the Rebuild the data file. The Chat person suggested another route, but that would only change the Lists, not the transactions.
What has happened to this QBD quality software program of the past years? I am not asking my Clients to upgrade to a newer versions because of the continuous problems I have encountered, especially Error 6123.
So I had to give the Client two data files, with the Error imbedded: A Backup and an Working file, and ask the Client to try restoring or opening each to see if which will work.
No That does not do it.
We know how you want QuickBooks to work the way it used to be. I have another way on how to fix this, John Renshaw Jr.
You'll usually encounter this error while trying to open or upgrade your company file. You'll want to open your company file from QuickBooks and not from the file folder to prevent this error.
Also, company file name must have 30 characters or less and must not contain any special characters or spaces. However, if you're still getting the same error, check out this article and continue to perform step 2: How To Fix Error 6123.
Once done, check if you're still getting either of the two errors. If so, I suggest contacting our support team to help you check what causes the error to display in your end.

I want to let people know how I fixed this issue. It appears that when Quickbooks updated to the 2020 version, they stopped using certain data fields. Unfortunately they didn't tell the other parts of the program that they weren't available anymore, so those parts still needed the data. So it gave an error about needing the data even though there were no fields to fill in! I had 2 accounts that thought they were online even though I had decommissioned them back in 2010. Every time I tried to remove them from the online, quickbooks would crash. One was a bank account, the other a credit card. So, for the bank account I noticed it had no customer ID on the online tab. I made up an ID number and saved it, then went back and I was able to deactivate it without quickbooks crashing. This didn't work for the credit card account because it wouldn't let me save it with just the id field filled in. It wanted more fields filled in that didn't exist! Luckily I only had about 20 transactions in that account, so I created a new account and edited each transaction in the old account to be in the new account. Then I was able to delete the old account. And now I can backup and my file passes verification. I was online with quickbooks support for 5 hours and they couldn't figure it out, but as I was working with them I was trying a lot of things and this worked. I hope this helps somebody out there.
I got this error on client's DT Pro 2020, along with Error 2 which seemed to indicate encryption damage. The bank account wouldn't connect - it said it was, but it wouldn't download. Info on Error 2 said "change the password". I disconnected the bank account and changed the password on QB, which re-encrypts the data. Surprisingly, all fixed. Bank connected and downloading. Hope that helps.
I have recently installed QB 2020 desktop versions after I received Error code 195 with my previous version of QB. When I went to open and save my previous data files, I still got Error 195. So upgrading to QB 2020 and even rebuilding the data does not fix the problem. I also have been a long term customer of QB and have become very frustrated with the customer service over the last few decades.
This is not the impression we want you to experience using QuickBooks Desktop, Winston Rego.
Upgrading and updating your QuickBooks Desktop are two different things. If you haven't tried updating your QuickBooks Desktop to its latest release version, I suggest doing so. This can fix the common errors within the software like Error 195.
Here's how to manually update your software:
