I contacted [email address removed] (3rd party quickbooks vendor), and was able to get a 2024 QuickBooks Desktop Pro license.  I had to also create a melio account (bill payment service) and then pay an invoice of $650 (there's an option for $100 cashback if you use a cc).  It took about a week and a half total to do everything, but the license is working great and I'm glad to have Quickbooks Desktop Pro for a bit longer so I don't have to move to QuickBooks Online.

Although QuickBooks Desktop Pro (QBDT) 2021 is discontinued, it's still possible to import batch transactions in QuickBooks Desktop Pro (QBDT) 2021 using IIF. Let me add further on this.

You can still consider importing your transactions into QBDT using IIF. However, there are list limits and formatting that need to be considered. Here are the steps to import batch transactions using IIF:

1. Sign in to your company file as an admin.
2. Back up your company file before you import IIF files. If you ever run into problems, you can use your backup to restore your data.
3. If you’re in Multi-user mode, go to the File menu, then select Switch to Single-user Mode.
4. Go to the File menu, then select Utilities.
5. Select Import, then select Import IIF.
6. Select the IIF file you want to import, then select Open.
7. Select OK to confirm the import.

We're unable to directly convert the QuickBooks Online (QBO) file to an IIF file format in QBDT. However, we can convert QBO files to IIF by using a third-party app. This will allow you to convert the file type. That way, you'll be able to import into IIF files in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Once done, ensure to back up your QuickBooks data file before any IIF import and choose a bank from the Chart of accounts where you can import the IIF file format.

Here are the following steps:

1. Go to the File menu, then select Utilities.
2. Click Import, then select Import IIF file.
3. Choose the IIF file you want to import, then select Open.
4. Select OK to confirm.

There's no built in way to convert a file, but a good way to convert QBO files to IIF files is to use our BRC OFX/QFX/QBO to IIF Converter

Yes, the account (bank or credit card) is added to the IIF file and then the transactions import directly into that account's register.

hello @MarkAngeloG I tried to follow your very specific instructions and was told by three different agents in sales that I cannot buy Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2024 with the perpetual license.  In fact, they said that Intuit has not sold that product for 3 years.  Further I was told that the only options were to upgrade to Quickbooks Desktop Pro Plus 2024 or QB Online.

So why does it say here that we can buy Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2024 with a perpetual license, but when we follow your directions and call, we are told we cannot?

Yes, it's correct. Intuit no longer sells QBDT with a one-time license only, and you'll need a subscription to use the program and get a hold of your company file. Also, after July 31, 2024, QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, Mac Plus, and enhanced Payroll subscriptions will be available for new U.S. subscribers.

To answer your first question, you can still open your company file using QBDT 2021 even after the discontinuation date, which is May 31, 2024, as long as your license is not subscription-based. However, all online services will be disconnected such as:

• Payroll services
• Credit Card Processing
• Accountant Copy Transfer Service
• Contributed Reports
• Online Banking

It's important to note that discontinued versions will not receive the latest critical security patches and updates, and you will not have access to live technical support or any of the other Intuit services that can be integrated with QuickBooks Desktop.

Based on their prices, I'm not sure about them. If you want to bet your luck, buy a license from them and make sure you can find your license code in CAMPS as the Primary Contact. Most scammers will give the same license code to everyone and won't dare give you access as the Primary Contact.

Which Option 1 do you mean?

If you continue with QB Desktop 2024 you will have to continue purchasing the payroll subscription as well. I found that purchasing QB Enterprise was more economical and also increased the file size for my clients, which is a huge plus. I had a quote from Fourlane for around $1,600, which includes the annual QB software and p/r subscription combined.

Intuit is the worst, most greedy company I have ever encountered.

UPDATED PRICE IS NOW ALMOST $1,000 FOR QUICKBOOKS PREMIER DESKTOP PLUS $568 FOR PAYROLL. OUR COMPANY HAS 2 OWNERS AND 3 EMPLOYEES, SO THESE PRICES ARE RIDICULOUS! WE USED TO COULD PURCHASE THE DESKTOP VERSION EVERY 3 YEARS AND THE PAYROLL WAS AROUND $300 PER YEAR. HOW MUCH IS OPTION 1 AND WHERE WOULD I GET IT?

Intuit will find new ways to make using your "older" QB for a long time.  For example, I use QB Pro 2020 and Turbotax Business for my 1120S corporation.  For years, I've imported data from Quickbooks into Turbotax.  Easy.  This year (tax year 2023) the Turbotax documentation says data can be imported from Quickbooks 2017 or later.  When my import failed, I contacted Intuit tech support.  After a wait, I was told only QB 2021 or later can be imported into Turbotax.  Then came the fun part. 

When my Turbotax numbers didn't "line up" with last year's, I tried to figure out why.  No matter how I tried I could not replicate the results of the tax year 2022 import from QB to TT.  I went with my best guesses and filed, although the time I spent trying to get the numbers right resulted in my being a few days past the March 15 filing deadline, and I got a penalty for late filing:  $235.  

So the next strongarming was turning off data transfer from Intuit QB 2020 to Intuit Turbotax. Bummer.  However, now I guess I'll look at other tax packages, some of which are from companies with accounting software too.
