When I try to open QB 2020 Pro, it open a window that requires you to have an Intuit Account and asks for the Admin. The window has no way to exit and only solution is to exit via Task Manager or reboot. I restored a backup copy from two years ago and the same window pops up and locks me out to continuing with QB.
HELP!!
Setting up an Intuit Account is one of our security measures, michaelmarquardt.
The prompt log in using your Intuit Account ID happens when you open or create a new company file, add a user, sign in to My Company, or while accessing Intuit User Account Management. This login makes it easier to manage your connected Intuit services.
You can go through the process and once it has been successfully set up. I'll show you how:

If you can't still enter the data you can follow the steps on what to do when QuickBooks Desktop freezes.
You're always free to get back to me if you have other questions. Take care always!
My problem has been that that screen is non-responsive and will not allow me to enter any info. The "continue" is not visible on my screen?
Thanks for getting back to us, @michaelmarquardt.
Since the pop-up screen won't allow you to enter any information, I highly suggest contacting our Phone Support team. They have tools such as screen sharing (remote access) that can check your account and further help you with the setup process.
Here's how to reach them:
Just in case, I'll add these articles for future reference:
I want to make sure everything is taken care of for you, so please let me know how it goes or if you have any other questions or issues. I'm always here to help. Have a good one!
This is an accurate chain of events; however, as described (Step 2) "Continue" does not appear on the screen even with my Intuit Account ID email filled in. See attached screenshot.
Seems that the browser fails to complete the refresh of the pop-up window.
I have tried setting my browser default to Chrome from the new Edge. I will try using Firefox but my hopes a minimal.
Thank you for any assistance.
BTW--QB becomes COMPLETELY locked up and the only way to exit is via END Task in Task Manager.
Hi there, @michaelmarquardt.
I greatly appreciate it that you're following the recommended steps provided by my colleague. However, you can't proceed to the next process because you don't have the Continue button. What I can suggest, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Support so that they can assist you and check your account since they'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment and help you navigate with their tools. Here's how:
Note: Due to COVID-19, we have limited staffing and have reduced our support hours to 6 AM-6 PM PT Monday-Friday. We will resume normal hours as soon as possible.

Well, I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me do as your colleague suggested. Problem is that as soon as I open QB it goes the Account screen with no chance to follow his instructions: "In QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), go to the Help menu at the top to get to the QuickBooks Desktop Help."
I would have done that long ago.
Is there a way to open QBDT in Safe Mode, where it does not open a COMPANY File, so I can follow your colleague's recommended steps.
BTW--I have been using QuickBooks for over 25 years and have been a BETA Tester for at least 15 releases. So I will ignore the tone of your last response, all I want to do is get my QB 2020 usable again.
Thank you,
Michael Marquardt
Good day, Michael.
I'm joining this thread to share more details on how we can make the Intuit Account window responsive.
We can repair your QuickBooks Desktop. This helps fix any error you may experiencing while using it. You can follow these steps:
Also, here's the article for your reference: Repair your QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.
In addition, I'd still suggest reaching out to our Customer Support Team if there are no changes. You may use this link to get in touch with them: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact. Then, simply select QuickBooks Desktop on the upper-right of the page and follow the on-screen instructions.
I'll be here if you need anything else. Have a great day!
Sorry, no joy! I attempted a repair twice and no change. I will try to contact Customer Service.
Worked with Support, after several hours, they kicked up to the software development people. Should get a return call this morning.
Why is Intuit requiring this within the Desktop program? You say it's for security, but it's just another hoop I have to jump through whenever I open a client's file. As I'm working with multiple clients back and forth every day, this is a REALLY annoying feature. Please switch it back off. I'm having to do the same thing within QB 2019 Desktop Accountant with a file that was downloaded from QBO. I'm astonished at how Intuit just seems to want to drive people away from their program with these super annoying features.
I appreciate your views and opinions about our security feature, @SmartBooks.
I personally don’t want you to feel this inconvenience. The prompt to log in using your Intuit Account ID is mandatory whenever opening or creating a new company file. This is to ensure that only authorized users can only access your data.
For more insights about the password security feature in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), check out this article for more details: Password security for QuickBooks Desktop.
You might also want to visit our QuickBooks Support page for future reference. There, you can browse some topics for QDBT that serve as your guide for your future tasks.
Let me know if you have other concerns about managing your QBDT software. I’m just a few clicks away from you.
Is this Intuit sign in a mandatory thing? I don't want to have to deal with it every 7 days, and why should I have to? You say it is for security, what a joke. My information is more secure with out any extra person or company having ANY access to my Quick Books.
I have a password on my Quickbooks. The idea that this is for security is non-sense!! I do not TRUST your security or the reason for this sign in requirements. I hope all the Quick books users are as upset as I am about this. Just another big company trying to gain more control.
I need to know if there is any place o n my quickbooks I can go to to find my Subscription account number?
Login to your CAMPS and find your license and subscription information there.
