Do I need to be concerned with the discontinuation of support for QB Pro 2019?  I only use this on my desktop for bank register reconciliations.  I do print year end reports.  Otherwise I do not do online backups, banking etc.  Will this program still work?

Thank You for such a prompt response.  I will consider upgrading in the future, but for now this is a small art shop and business...well...you know the whine!

Thanks

You can secure the backup files in QBB format.

Hi there, @zontor2. I'm stepping into the thread to share with you some information about upgrading QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Usually, once you decided to upgrade to a newer version (year) of QBDT, you’ll also need to upgrade your company files. This means that you can create a backup copy of your QBDT 2019 file, and then restore it to a newer version. Creating backup copies is also a save point for your accounting data. If you ever run into problems, you can use your backup to restore your data.

The system asks you to upgrade your company file the first time you open it in your newer version. Keep in mind that you can no longer open your company file in your original version of QuickBooks after you upgrade it. For more information, open this article: Upgrade your company files after you switch to a new version of QuickBooks Desktop.

Once done upgrading and opening your company file, update QuickBooks so you have the latest software release to keep your software up-to-date so you always have the latest features and fixes.

If you have any other questions about your QBDT file, let me know by adding a comment below. I'm always here to help. Have a good one!

thank you for the reply, however i was not inquiring about a new version. i do not have the need to upgrade from 2019 version as it fits my needs.  if in the event that i have to reinstall my 2019 version due to a system crash or upgrading my pc that would require reinstallaion will the auto update bring it to the latest 2019?  is there a file to download that includes the patches to bring 2019 up to current 2019 level?

thanks in advance

How complicated is it to transfer my data from 2019 Desktop Pro to any of the 2023 online versions?

Hi there, jodyv.

Moving from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online isn't complicated at all. To have a smooth transition, ensure to have the latest QuickBooks Desktop file. I'm here to share more information about it.

Since you have the 2019 version, you can use our trial version to convert it to the latest one. Just a heads up, the target limit for the file to be converted is 750,000. For the detailed steps of the process, you can check this reference: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online.

I've also added this article on what to do after moving to QuickBooks Online: What to do after you move from QuickBooks Desktop for Windows or Mac to QuickBooks Online.

You can always reach out to us whenever you need help converting the data.

You must contact Sales team by phone to purchase a new subscription license for QBD 2023 Pro Plus. Otherwise, you can purchase it via a partner/reseller without credit card.

My year subscription has ended, however I don't need to upgrade at this time.  The desktop version suits all my business need, but find I'm unable to use the banking feeds to pull in my transactions from the business account.  Is there a way to be able to utilize this feature without spending on the upgrade?

I appreciate you chiming in on this thread, @clm1764.

Allow me to lay a couple of information regarding this matter.

With the discontinuation of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2020, you no longer have access to our support and services as well as any features that use the internet. You can also check out this article for more details about this: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy.

Since you no longer want to upgrade, you'll want to log in to your bank outside QuickBooks and download the transactions. Once the data is handy, we can now import them into your account. You can check out this article for the detailed steps: Import and export data in QuickBooks Desktop.

Feel free to reply to this thread if you need more help. I'm here to back you up. Keep safe.
