HELP! I've been a QuickBooks and QuickBooks POS user for over ten years (several versions of both).
I use the RDS Server to connect my POS computer (QuickBooks POS v12 r19) to my back office computer (QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2018). All has been fine until this afternoon. My back office computer is getting an "Application with Revoked Certificate" message ("revoked by its certification authority") and will not start. How can I correct this???
Solved! Go to Solution.
I've resolved my issue.
Unfortunately QB decided that RDS was no longer an option and pulled it from up without notification.
I cant vouch for other configurations but on POS v12 and QB Desktop v18 you will need to have a (non-running) copy of QuickBooks on the POS workstation. Learn how to set it up by going to the POS Help and find the QuickBooks Financial Software Installation Options help screen. On that screen you will find that you were using option 3 (RDS) but now you need to use option 2; QuickBooks Installed on Point of Sale Server Workstation and Another Network Workstation. Pretty straightforward but a couple of gotchas: you cant be running QuickBooks Desktop simultaneously on both computers (you only need to run it on the POS computer to set it up then close it), you want to have two different Admin logons for QuickBooks Desktop and you need to set QuickBooks Desktop into multi user mode ( https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-ca/apps-integrations/set-up-and-install-a-multi-user-... ) .
Took me about 2 hours with a little trial and error.
Good Luck!
It works! I have confirmed it with 3 clients using the new RDSServer.exe (v14.0.0.34). Our application is able to send QB transactions from a remote computer to QB Desktop via RDS Server successfully again.
I am having the exact same problem. It started earlier today as well. Hopefully there is a fix. This is very vital to my business.
Critical for me too. I’m freaking out. Also posted on Reddit, Twitter and Facebook. Any other resources /boards that you know about to get an answer?
Have you found a fix for this problem yet? My system did this to me yesterday about the same time as yours and still no fix found on my end
Thank you for reaching out regarding this error message. My best recommendation would be to contact Point of Sale technical support. The team's contact info can be found here:

They will be able to assist and get you up and running again!
Thanks,
Lucas
This isn't right. I called and they immediately are trying to get me to upgrade my software. There is obviously a common problem that happened yesterday. I imagine there will be many more people that are having this problem but haven't realized it yet. Quickbooks has to fix this for their many customers.
According to support:
"As of now, RDS setup is no longer recommended since it causes disruption on the database. If your main goal is to sync POS and QB, we can set it up so long as the PCs are connected on same network."
They wanted me to upgrade too but v18 is really little difference from v12. I guess I'm going to install QuickBooks on my POS server and map to my QB data.
this is happening to me also!
Same error occurred to us yesterday too. Using QB Enterprise 19 and had QB RDS Server setup so our company's internal app could do Sales Orders & Invoicing automatically. Hopefully a solution will be found soon.

Did they give you instructions? I've been through chat & 3 phone calls- on hold currently- no solution yet.
We are getting the same issue, only as of today. Our app connects to QB RDS Server for sending billing transactions and now RDS Server gets the 'Revoked Certificate' error when it tries to connect with QB Desktop. Happened with QB 2016 and 2020 both on Windows 10.
Need a solution ASAP as it will break all of our customers reliance on this.
We are running into the same issue. We are having company's internal app posting sales transactions to QB via RDS.
Seems like when RDS tries to access company file, QB is validating the digital signature certificate with its issuer to check if certificate has been revoked. I manually verified if certificate is revoked, seems like certificate is not revoked but CA is giving a generic message of expired certificate.
Here are the detailed steps:
Right click on RDSServer.exe goto the properties and digital signature
I saved the digital signature certificate to a file called intuit.cer
I also saved the issuer's certificate to verisign_ca.crt.
Get OCSP URL from intuit.cer
openssl x509 -in intuit.cer -noout -ocsp_uri
http://ocsp.verisign.com
Send request to OCSP URL:
openssl ocsp -issuer verisign_ca.cer -cert intuit.cer -text -url http://ocsp.verisign.com

Check the explanation of unauthorized (6) response by digicert. As per the following article the certificate is expired not revoked.
https://knowledge.digicert.com/solution/SO22631.html
I checked the same thing with the digital signature certificate for WB2019ENT and I am getting the same response from the issuer (Symantec).
To me it seems like RDS6 (file version 8.xxxx) has been signed with digital signature certificate from Verisign and Verisign (now Paypal) is not validating OCSP request for some reason.
Someone from Intuit should take this up with Verisign/Paypal to check with them that why they are not validating the OCSP requests.
Good afternoon it seems QBs development resolved the issue.
Please go to the following page to get links for new RDS Setup files.

Problem has resurfaced again today (3 years later).
Seems we need another rdserver update.
Concerned that with QBPOS end of life this won't get done!
UPDATE: Still unsuccessful. Getting same error when trying to do this without RDS. Apparently the certificate on POS itself is revoked. How can I get this fixed???
Hello there, Jim.
I understand you how you feel with the problem resurfacing after three years. It's certainly not ideal to encounter the same issue again.
The fact that QuickBooks Point of Sale (QBPOS) has already reached its end of life adds another layer of concern regarding the availability of essential updates. Yes,another update for the RDServer is necessary at this point. This will help ensure that our systems continue to run smoothly and efficiently.

Thank you for your quick response. The Web Connector issue has a fix this morning but it did not resolve the problem for me. I also have attempted to move off RDS and installed QBDT on my POS computer but still get the expired certificate error when attempting to make the Financial Exchange connection.
Any workarounds yet? Ours stopped working as of this morning also!
