I am considering using quick books on line. A HUGE reason NOT to use it follows here, am I missing something, is there a solution offered by quick books?
I work in the field and sometimes have no internet connection. As far as I know there is no way to use the mobile app for quotes, invoices etc. if there is no internet connection.
An off line mode that allows simple everyday business to proceed with my customers is needed.
It could sync later when the internet is available.
I could only find discussions on this subject that are a few years old and it's a real problem for on the move small businesses. Has quick books solved the problem.
I can't see myself buying a product that won't work when I need it the most.

Hello, Metter.
I can see where you're coming from and see the benefits of an offline mode for on-the-move businesses and individuals. I'll talk more about this below.
You aren't missing anything. QuickBooks Online still requires an internet connection to use for both the browser and the mobile versions. Though, I do agree that the offline mode would prove beneficial for your line of work.
We can send feedback to our developers about the offline mode idea. Click on the Gear icon, then select Feedback.
They'll check your inputs and might consider them for future releases and improvements for QuickBooks Online.
This might also be possible with a third-party app. We could enter transactions on the offline app, then once the internet is available, we would sync it with QuickBooks to import those entries.
We can look for offers here: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/app/apps/home/.
If you're still considering QuickBooks Online, I'll include these tutorials if you need help using them in the future: QuickBooks Online tutorials.
I'm all ears if you have more concerns about the features and functions of QuickBooks Online. Just reply here and I'll help you out.
QB Online is not suitable for your situation. Consider using QB Desktop.

Thank you. Quick books desktop would require a PC in the field, not a good solution.
A third party app alongside QBO to get features that I need seems like a duct tape solution. If QBO wanted us to be able to work offline it would already be an option,. This seems to be an ongoing 'complaint' , I will search for a solution that works for me. If I reach the end of the internet without finding a good alternative to QB I will be back to figure out the 'QBO with patch' method.
This is the main reason I won’t switch to Online and it’s ridiculous. I don’t trust anyone with my data, and I want at least, to store a backup copy offline in case Intuit screw up or even if I want to switch in the future. They are being scumbags like other companies and saying it’s not really my data
So explain why I’m not allowed to even store a backup copy offline for my own security? This is an important data file. If I get audited and Intuit has issue, the Gov is certainly not going to cut me slack for Intuits mistake if my data is not in order. Plus your CPA have to have the abillity to access Online, where with Desktop I give them a file
If you are using QB Desktop, you may secure your backup file. If you are using QB Online, you can convert your data to QB Desktop file and use the trial version to access it for good later.
Spread the warning!: Intuit QB support supervisor told me yesterday that they are phasing out ALL Desktop versions of QB, to try to funnel everyone to QB Online.
They told me they will allow NO more QB Desktop subscribers after Sept. 30, 2024, and that any current/active subscribers continuing past that date will have to pay $999 for their next annual renewal, and then a higher price (not yet announced how much) the following year, and then 2027 will be the last year they can use the super high priced offline version Desktop version.
Beware! And spread the warning to others!
You can still purchase QB Desktop Accountant and QB Desktop Enterprise after Sep 30.
We appreciate your efforts in sharing the information you've gathered to other users, @Ted939. Let me clarify some things about QuickBooks Desktop discontinuation.
After September 30, 2024, there are specific products that Intuit will no longer be selling. Below are the following products affected by these changes:
This will not impact our existing subscribers and they can continue to renew their subscription after the said date. Also, these changes don't affect QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise products and Accountant version. You may purchase one of the products through online or call our Sales team before the cut-off date.
For more detailed information about these changes, you can check out this article: Can't buy QuickBooks Desktop as a new US subscriber.
Additionally, you can refer to this article for QuickBooks price updates: Announcing upcoming changes to QuickBooks pricing.
I will always find time to get back in the comments if you have additional questions about the prices in QuickBooks. Have a nice day ahead.
Just to clarify…I have QB 2018 Desktop Pro. I don’t use any online services, payroll, customer support, etc…I have a very small LLC and do not need anything fancy nor can afford monthly or annual subscription fees. Can I continue to use my software without any issues?
You can use QB Desktop 2018 with a non-subscription license for good. Did you encounter any error message?
