I'd be glad to share some information with you about ACH payments or processing fees in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @michele59.

If you use QuickBooks Payments to take payments, there's a fee each time you process a transaction. It varies depending on whether the card is swiped (2.4%), invoiced (2.9%), or keyed (3.4%). ACH payments have a charge of a 1% fee (max $10) on each transaction.

Is this information still relevant? The payments rate page (https://quickbooks.intuit.com/payments/payment-rates/) doesn't say anything about a limit of $10, it only specifies 1%.

Yes, you're right, Bridget.

Once you process bank transfers with a maximum of $10 per transaction, QuickBooks will only charge 1% for every ACH payment process. I've got this so you'll know how much are the charges:

Maria, this table says nothing about a $10 maximum. People are asking specifically about that maximum. Can you verify? Thanks.

I appreciate you joining in the thread for clarification, Ben.

Let me add some details regarding the ACH fees in QuickBooks.

As my colleague mentioned, QuickBooks will only charge 1% for bank transfers that are a maximum of $10 per transaction. Please note that this is for new customers in QuickBooks Online who add Payments through an Accountant or QSP. With this, they already receive the preferred pricing.

For more information about the current payment rates, visit this website: Standard Payment Fees & Rates | QuickBooks Payments.

Hi Kimberly,

Can you please provide a screenshot of any mention of a $10 maximum in the links you provided? That $10 maximum is not mentioned anywhere, unless we are missing it.

Thank you.

Hi Zack,

I’ve reviewed the links you sent. So just to clarify: If I receive a $10,000 ACH bank transfer payment from a client, QuickBooks will charge me a $100 fee (1%), correct?

Thanks.

Shania,

I’m not sure why you’re suggesting a support call. I’m not going to do a support call for this. I’m just looking for an answer to the question:

If I receive a $10,000 ACH bank transfer payment from a client, QuickBooks will charge me a $100 fee (1%), correct?

Per your article:

https://www.firmofthefuture.com/product-update/changes-to-quickbooks-pricing-2023-faqs-article/

Q: I don’t understand how the new ACH fee structure works. Can you please explain it?

A: For ACH payments:

  • New QuickBooks customers who add Payments on or after September 5, 2023 will have the no-cap ACH plan.
  • New QuickBooks customers who add Payments through an Accountant or QSP will have a $10 cap as they’re already receiving preferred pricing.
  • Existing Payments customers who move to the new pricing will keep ACH with a cap.

Seems like existing customers (pre Sept 2023) will have a $15 cap

This is the issue I am having now. I opted to use Quickbooks ACH over the $10 fee limit, which seems reasonable, but I just got a fee for 1% of a near-$5000 invoice…so I’ll be looking to take my B2B payments elsewhere unless QuickBooks can weigh in on this topic.

We know how confusing this matter might be, commentator. Let me share some information about the added fee on ACH payments in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

QuickBooks charges 1% for bank transfers that are a maximum of $10 per transaction. This additional fee is for new customers in QBO who add payments through an Accountant or QuickBooks Solution Provider Program.

To learn more about ACH, you can refer to the following articles:

Moreover, you can also check out this article as a reference when you need to accept electronic payments for invoices and in-person sales with QBO Payments: Take and process payments in QuickBooks Online with QuickBooks Payments.

It seems like Quickbooks quietly made this change in the last 8 months, given the amount of conflicting information on this thread. I’d like to talk with someone about the preferred pricing option before I formalize my search for another B2B payments vendor. These fees are quite high for invoices.

Helpful. To be honest, I have been a Quickbooks customer for over 5 years now and was getting free B2B payments via ACH with my old business under Quickbooks self employed. It took weeks to process transactions and the support was awful — again, lot of conflicting information on… but I got Quickbooks online for my new business knowing ACH would be free or low fees, processed a sub-$1000 invoice and got charged a sub-$10 fee, and then lost almost fifty bucks on my second invoice. I’d be fine with the $10 cap, but you’re right, I’ll be looking outside QB if they can’t grandfather me in. I thought QB collecting new monthly subscription fees for my second business would have been enough, but here we are.
