I have found that printing 1099 NEC for 2021 the forms 3-on-a-page do not match QBDT PRO 2020 2-on-a-page format. Any one found a solution?
Hello, knightxreader.
I'll handle your query about the 1099-NEC forms in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
I have good news to share with you. You should now be able to print 3 to a page for 1099-NEC. All you need to do is make sure you are on the latest releases with the appropriate critical fixes.
Here’s how:
1. Go to the Help menu.
2. Click Update QuickBooks Desktop.
3. Go to the Options tab and click Mark All, then Save.
4. Tap the Update Now tab.
5. Make sure Critical Fixes is checked.
6. Then click Get Updates.
When the update is finished, close and reopen QuickBooks Desktop. Click Yes to install the updates, then restart your computer.

No this did not fix my issue of not printing the 3-Up 1099NEC. I took a member's advice and uninstalled all QB related programs on my desktop and then reinstalled. After several updates and a check on the printing status each time, program finally printed 3Up.
I have 2 versions on my desktop. QB 2020 and 2021 for 2 different clients. I updated the files along with the "critical" fixes and tried to print and its still showing 2/page!! This is pretty ridiculous. I like to send the recipient copy out early in the month so I can correct any errors before I send in the govt copies. It was ok when the govt got them end of Feb but now we have less time. I cant imagine I am the only one dealing with this. QB has know this change for quite awhile. WHEN is this finally going to get resolved???
Thanks!!
We can try resetting the update, Mousecmf.

I did this step by step and I still can't print 3 part 1099NEC's! It still comes up two to a page. I'm running Desktop Pro Plus 2022. I keep books for several other companies. When the opportunity came to update to the latest version of Pro Plus I chose to not update yet and I'm able to print 3 part on the old software!
I really need to be able to print on the new software on 3 parts. With what we pay for QB I should not have to go out and buy 1099 software and key in all information to be able to get 1099's out to where they need to go. HELP!!!!
I want to make sure you can print the 3 part 1099-NEC, @Nolen78.
With the current version of the QuickBooks Desktop you're using, you should be able to print the 3 part 1099-NEC. Since you're unable to print the form with 3 part, let's ensure your QuickBooks is updated to the latest release with the appropriate Ultra-Light Patches (ULIPs) applied or Critical Fixes. Once done, go ahead and print your 1099-NEC forms.
If you get the same result, I highly recommend reaching out to our QuickBooks Support Team. This way, they can further look into this matter and help you resolve this issue. To reach them, you can follow the steps provided by my colleague LieraMarie_A above.

Looks like I'll be having a great time writing out 70 1099's BY HAND.
This is ridiculous.
Somebody really dropped the ball on this one.
Totally agree, this is an outrageous snafu by QB. I have wasted an entire afternoon on this at the busiest time of year.

Software Developers.... are NOT ACCOUNTANTS. :(
Welllll, happy me today. I called desktop support and they walked me thru the process of updating and I can finally do what I need to do. My 1099's NEC are gonna print 3/page. Only issue is I now have to reset all the accounts to include in deciding whether a 1099 should be including in the totals or not - Can be time consuming but at least I can get this done for my clients. I also have to update the version they use since some are small businesses and dont need to update each year. Thanks Quickbooks.
I'm happy you finally made it happen! I, however, will be buying a standalone product to print mine as all the updates in the world can't make my 2020Pro version print 3-up forms. I've tried calling support and got hung up on. It's not worth my time, which is money, to try to keep contacting them. Happy 2022!
I did this update then closed and reopened QB....now I am getting this message when I try to verify the account....and I still can't print the 1099-NEC 3-up forms!
What is the problem QB?? I really don't have time for all of these problems. Today was my day to get my 1099's done, now I a going to have to work on my day off to resolve this issue. I have always been a fan of QB DT, but today....not so much!!
We definitely want to have this resolve so you can file your 1099s, Jessli.
The error that you're getting can either be caused by data damage, incorrect service key, or incorrect EIN in the company file.
Since you've already updated your software, let's proceed to repairing it. The repair process is one of the troubleshooting steps that can resolve this type of error.
Here's how:
Aside from that, you can also go to the Payroll Account Management portal. Then, check if the payroll service shows Active. If it is, close the page and check if you can already process your 1099s.
Just in case you're still getting the same issue, you can contact our payroll support team. They can screen-share with you to check everything and provide more options to resolve the issue. Check out this article on how to reach out to them: Contact Payroll Support.
As always, please join us again in the Community if you need anything else. I'd be glad to offer my help again.
I followed your directions, but it still did not fix the issue. I guess I will have to contact the payroll support on Monday.
I have tried all the fixes also and still can not print 3 up. I have spent almost two days on this, which means I am not billing hours and not making money!!! I have the accountants version and spend a lot of money with Quick Books. Since this is the worlds leading software I expect it to work. Now will I be able to get help over the weekend or am I out 2 more days of no income. Also thinking of going to Mag filer, another software just to print 1099's and W2's. more money out of my pocket.
This does not fix the problem
This is not fixing the problem!!

To be able to print the 1099 form with 3 parts, ensure that your program is updated to the latest release of a supported version of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
If verified that you have the latest release and updated version of QBDT and still can't print the 3 part 1099-NEC, I highly suggest getting in touch with our Payroll support team. They use specific tools to help you determine what's preventing you to print the form with the format you need. You can also request a screen-sharing session so they can further check your account set up.

I am finally updated and able to print be I need to align the printing better as we cannot see the full address in the window envelope/ When I go to printer setup to do this the program crashes and I am thrown out. How can we fix this ASAP??
Thanks!
