We are running Pro 2018. I ran the updates and still do not have the 3 part 1099-NEC format available.
Please advise
Hi there, @DLF1033
I have some additional information about printing the 3 to page 1099-NEC form.
After ensuring that your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) program is updated to the latest release and you have the latest payroll tax table. Please make sure that you mark check the Critical Fixes and the Reset Update box is checked to get the updates.
Here's how:
Select Get Updates to start the download.
When the download finishes, restart QuickBooks.
If the issue persists, I recommend contacting our support team. This way, they look into your account and investigate why the print 3 to page 1099-NEC isn't available on your end.
For your reference, let me share these these articles that can guide you in filing your forms seamlessly:
Don't hesitate to comment below if you have any other follow-up questions about printing your 1099-NEC in QBDT. I'll be around to help.
Hi @DLF1033 - What AbegaleS missed is that you are running QB 2018, which is no longer supported. Only 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 are supported for the 3-up forms. You'll need to upgrade to one of those to get your forms to print in the new format.
Good luck.
Hi, I am running 2019. But, thanks for the input.
Ok thank you - i thought i read that 2018 was still supported. The option to print NEC forms is on there so its confusing that it does not work.
This worked! The update released 1/18 seems to correct the issue. It did mess up my mapping, but that is an easy fix. whew!!!
I am still unable to print my 1099's aligned properly even after doing the updates and upgrading to 2022.
I have QB Pro 2018 and even after updating the forms still print two to a page and not three. Now what?
We tried all the updates. 1099-NEC is still printing only 2 vendors per form. This is an IRS requirement not our preference. HELP, please
I have 2022 QB Pro and spent 3 hours on the phone with the QB help staff last Wednesday. They tried everything to get my computer to print 3 part 1099-NEC
forms, finally admitted it wasn't working and then told me to call back in a few days. Has anyone yet gotten their 2022 QB Pro to print out 3 part forms?
I hear your sentiments, LisaMBurr, lizhere, and CFC2.
Let me make it up to you by sharing another way to print the 3 part forms.
@LisaMBurr, for QB 2018, this is no longer supported, and that could be the reason why you are unable to print the forms. You'll need to upgrade to 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 to print in the new format.
@lizhere and @CFC2, you may consider doing these steps shared by ACM22:
Please check this article for more details: Create and file 1099s with QuickBooks Desktop.
Let me know how the steps work. I want to make sure you're now able to print the new forms.
Finally got the help I needed from QB Call staff - I had to click "reset Update" and run the updates again, restart my program, run a payroll update and it finally is coming up 3 per page. **Note I had to remap my 1099 account to get them in the NEC form but that was the easy part!!
I updated my program and now it prints three per page but only the first form lines up with IRS forms I received. The second one is close but the third (bottom) is way up too high.
Welcome to this conversation,@AmyDaz. I appreciate you for following the steps shared in this thread.
Since you're still having issues printing the 1099-NEC three up, your next step will be uninstalling and reinstalling QuickBooks.
Before doing so, I'd suggest you close the program. Then, restart your system.
Post some more of your concerns again if you have any. We're always here to help.
have tried this numerous times and I still can't print my 1099's
Hello there, @PAAUG.
I'd like to help you figure out the reason why you're still unable to print 3-part of the 1099 NEC form.

If you've done performing the suggestion above, please give us a short call. We'll have to conduct further investigation on this concern.

I have updated quickbooks 2022 and was printing 1099 NEC yesterday. Today however they are out of alignment and I can't get them to print correctly. Is there an issue I am not aware of?
I finally got things working, but QB is such a hot mess. Why on earth does a software updating system show that there are no available updates when there are updates??? It's completely stupid. It's an embarrassment that such a profitable company has such incompetence.
Same here. I've updated, checked, logged out. The 3 ups will not populate. I've used QB over 20 years since it was new. Giant disruptive let down yet again. Using my other software, more and more. The more I use the other, the more I get used to it and it works. Only a matter of time I must say. My tax office can't handle the ongoing issues, higher prices, and lack of English-speaking support.
Here I go hand entering every 1099 into another system....
This did not work. Won't let me preview or print 1099 NEC
I have done this update process and when I get to printing the forms it doesn't do anything when I hit print or preview? I have premier plus 2022
I updated the Critical Fixes in my Quickbooks Desktop 2020. But when I select print forms and 1099 the 1099 NEC still prints 2 per page not 3 per page.

so I did that but I am getting error 15241 and the critical update line says install pending, I close QB and reopen and nothing happens.
Hello, mamakatzman.
Let me share some information about what is error 15241 in QuickBooks Desktop.
If the payroll software update does not go through correctly, QuickBooks error 15241 appears. The system will then notify you of the QB payroll update on a regular basis, and you will be unable to install it. The QuickBooks Desktop File Copy Service (FCS) is most likely disabled, which is why this is happening. Updating software to the latest release can resolve the error.
To fix the error you've encountered, please follow the steps by steps procedure in this article: Error 15241.
Feel free to post a reply if you have other questions about your QuickBooks Desktop. I'll get back to you. Stay safe!
