I have the same problem as the OP.  It being there blocks the bottom of the screen and I can't see the save buttons.  I do not have an option to hide it... The only option says "explore".

I just got the update too, and I have a big new ad on my payment screen as well. I already pay hundreds per month for this software... why are you shoving ads in my face, and on top of that-- ads I can't even get rid of! There is no "X" or way to dismiss it. I've always had my pop-ups turned off, and they are still off as shown in this screenshot. I want this ad gone. It's so big! I've seen your other ads that are small, little links I can click on if I'm interested. They only bother me 25% as much as this big honking ad!

Thanks for joining this thread, 20407.

I'm here to help ensure your account is added to the affected users about being unable to eliminate the QuickBooks Capital advertisement.

Let's open a different browser outside QuickBooks Desktop and contact support from there. This way, they'll be able to add your account to the investigation (INV-38723). And,  you'll receive an update regarding the issue via email.

Here's how:

  1. Go to this link: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop.
    selectQB.PNG
  3. Click Continue as a guest.
    contactsupport1.PNG
  4. Choose the current version of your account.
  5. Click Search for something else.
  6. Enter a brief discussion in the Tell us more about your question field, then click Search.
    contactsupport2.PNG
  7. Click Start a Message.

After that, you can uninstall and re-install the app to ensure you're able to use the Desktop Help menu. There are times that  windows won't load when they're stuck while opening them.

If the same issue persists, please add this issue to the representative you're chatting with. This way, he/she can take a look at it and further investigate this.

Keep me posted if there's anything else you need and I'll get back to you.

Nice attempt but it's not a pop up.  It's just there...always!  I have always had pop up ads turned off, so this is not the solution.  Its a great big stupid box with no ability to get rid of it.  It appeared after the latest update.  I need it gone so I can see the "save and continue" buttons...they are actually important and helpful and this ad is neither of those things

I have always had that option chosen in my preferences.  It's not necessarily a pop-up ad, it's a solid banner ad across the top of the screen with no way to hide it or X out of it.  It only says "Explore".

Thanks for joining this thread, cseymour.

I've recently received an update about the advertisement for "Get business funding when it matters using Quickbooks Capital" in QuickBooks Desktop. And, the investigation about this issue has been resolved.

The banner is embedded in the window with no option to remove it at this time. This issue only impacts the software with large scaling and resolutions that are borderline meeting system requirements.

Please check the display settings to ensure it meets the minimum requirements. And, change anything needed to get the buttons to be visible.

You need the display to be optimized for 1280×1024 screen resolution or higher at 100% scaling. Supports one Workstation Monitor, plus up to 2 extended monitors.

There are other options if they can't get the display settings up to the 1280x1024 (such as on a laptop). Use keyboard shortcuts below:

  • Alt + A for Save & Close
  • Alt + S for Save & New.

You can also force it to full screen view with this button which will allow the buttons to show every time.

Thanks for keeping an eye on this post. Let me know if you need additional information and I'll get back to you.

Hi there, @JRBB.

The option to totally remove the ad that's covering up the save and close buttons in QuickBooks Desktop has been assessed by our developers. They are now working to improve the product and provide you the best customer experience.

Meanwhile, to close the ad, you may follow the workaround provided by my peer above.

To stay current with our latest news and updates, I encourage you to visit the New Feature section on your QuickBooks Desktop.

To do that:

  1. Click on Help at the top menu bar.
  2. Select on New Features.
  3. Choose New Feature Tour.

Let me know if you have any other concerns. I'll make sure you're taken care of. Have a great day!

Welcome and thank you for joining the thread, @jwfaber.

At this time, we haven't received updates from our developers and don't have a specific time-frame to when the ad be removed totally.

The good news is, you can access the New Features section from your QuickBooks Desktop to stay updated with the latest QuickBooks updates. You can refer to the steps provided by BettyJaneB above for your reference.

I personally will send feedback to our engineers about this so they can work on with this as quickly as possible.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm more than happy to help. Have a great day!

This banner ad is also showing on my Receive Payments window, and is very annoying. It looks like spam, especially since there is not an option to close it or remove it. I have had pop-up ads disabled since forever. When will this annoyance be removed for EVERYONE?

Eliminate Quickbooks Capital ad on Customer Payment screen

Hello stirlingpainting,

As mentioned on the earlier responses, the investigation about the pop-up ads has already been closed. You can close the ads by clicking the X option. If you're not seeing it, you might have the large scaling and resolutions.

QuickBooks Desktop display is optimized for 1280x1024 screen resolution or higher at 100% scaling. You'll need to modify your display settings to achieve the closest to the suggested screen resolution. Make sure the second number of the screen resolution is not below 1024.

  1. Click Edit at the top menu and select Preferences.
  2. In the Preferences window, select the Desktop View and go to the My Preferences tab.
  3. Go to the WINDOWS SETTINGS section and click Display.
  4. It will open your system's Display Settings window.
  5. Go to the Scale and layout section.
  6. Change the Resolution.
  7. After the changes, click OK in the Preferences window.

You can also force the ad's screen to full-screen view. This'll allow you to close the ads.

I know how inconvenient to see unexpected ads while doing something. The steps I provided can keep you going.

This is not a pop-up ad. This is a fixed banner in the window. There is no "X" to close it, no matter if I'm in individual window or full-screen mode. Please see the screenshots below.

You are absolutely correct about how annoying ads are. The setting to "turn off pop-up messages for products and services" should work like it's supposed to and not allow any ads or annoying banners to show. Judging from this thread, I'm not the only one who is frustrated with this. Since this is STILL an issue, maybe the ticket should be re-opened until this fixed banner ad that CANNOT BE CLOSED is removed forever and completely for everyone.
