Does anyone know if Excel 2019 is compatible with QB Desktop Pro 2019? I am about to upgrade to Desktop Pro 2019 and want to upgrade to MS Office 2019 at the same time. I thought I should check and make sure the two are compatible first. I found a thread that says QB 2017 & 2018 are not compatible with Excel 2019 but I can't find anything that says if QB DT Pro 2109 and Excel 2019 are compatible. Thanks!
Hello MandyAZPCP ! You can try Business Importer Desktop app. It imports excel doc from any version of MS Office into any version of QuickBooks Desktop since 2012. Hope, it will help you!
Hi there, MandyAZPCP.
Thanks for joining the Community. I'm here to share some information about the QuickBooks Desktop 2019 system requirements.
Microsoft Office 2010 and Office 2013, 2016, and 365 (including Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013) on both 32 and 64 bit are currently supported in QuickBooks Desktop 2019. However, Office and Excel 2019 are currently unsupported.
For more in-depth information about the system requirements, you can check out this great article: QuickBooks 2019 and Enterprise Solutions 19.0.
This should point you in the right direction. Leave a comment below if you have other questions. I'm always around to help.
When is it anticipated that QB will support Excel 2019? I really don't want to have to downgrade Excel.
Hello there, @Aussiebron.
Thanks for joining this conversation. Allow me to chime in and share some information about the compatibility of Excel 2019 to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
At this time, we don't have an exact time line as to when the Excel 2019 will be compatible with QBDT. But QuickBooks is constantly updating, rest assured that we will notify you through an email blast or next release. I'll also update you in this post once we get the update as well.
In the meantime, you can always check out the article provided by my colleague above for additional information about the QBDT system requirements.
This should answer your concern for today. Please mention me in the comment section if you have any other questions or if I can be of additional assistance. Have a wonderful day.
Just checking to be sure QBs hasn't forgotten about this.
Not being compatible with the latest Office version seems ridiculous.
Hello Stevecpa66,
Before our engineers add the latest version of Microsoft Office to the software compatibility, they also consider the stability based on the improvements that they add. I'm personally taking note of your request regarding Microsoft Excel.
For now, you can follow the advice of my colleague to check on the article for any changes and updates. I recommend bookmarking the support link to the article as well, In case you need them in the future (scroll down to Software compatibility):
System requirements for QuickBooks 2019 and Enterprise Solutions 19.0.
Thanks for coming to the Community, I'll keep an eye out for your response regarding the Excel version. I'm always up to lend a hand.
I just learned of this incompatibility when I tried to run Payroll Reports in Excel using my newest version of QuickBooks Pro (2019) on a new computer with Excel 2019. It's a major inconvenience for me - I had to do my reports by hand. I assumed when I bought QuickBooks Pro 2019 that it would be compatible with the most recent version of Excel. I don't understand why there isn't a timeline being given for when this issue will be resolved. Is it not a priority? I'd appreciate a response and any updates on the status.
Hi, cpcil.
I'm here to help and share some updates regarding running payroll reports via Excel in QuickBooks Desktop.
We're receiving reports that other users are getting this issue as well. We would like to inform you that this has already been escalated to our Payroll Team. While they do, I would advise you to reach out to our Payroll Specialists.
This way our engineers can add your account information to the list of affected users and attach your case to the INV-24874. Any progress will be communicated via email.
Here's how to reach us:
I'll pass along the issues you have to the appropriate channels so you're able to reach a point of resolution as quickly as possible. However, as soon as an update is received, I will be happy to update this thread and let you know so that you can get back to business.
For the meantime, you can run the report from previous quarters and when asked to update select "Yes". This way, you can pull all the data correctly. If that does not work clean install of QuickBooks and Excel are possible fixes.

Please extend your patience while we're working for the permanent fix. Don't hesitate to drop me a line if you have other payroll reports concerns in QuickBooks. Have a good one.
Is this fixed yet? We're almost in 2020. If not, is there a way to export the reports in a compatible version of Excel, instead of a .csv file?
Hi, teeemdee.
I'd like to share some updates regarding exporting reports via QuickBooks Desktop 2019.
For now, the most recent update that I have is that our Engineering Team is diligently working to determine why you're not able to export a report into Excel. We are still investigating this unexpected behavior.
In case you’ve not been added to the list of affected users, I'd suggest reaching out to our QuickBooks Desktop Support so they can get your account information and have them investigate further. Any progress will be communicated via email.

I'm responding to the moderator's most recent post. This isn't an unexpected behavior. The problem has been and continues to be that QuickBooks 2019 is not compatible with Excel 2019. I and others have been asking for this to be fixed since much earlier in 2019. I just spoke with a customer service rep this week who told me that there is no timeline for when it will be fixed. This is horrible customer service and a big inconvenience to me and other users who want to run reports in Excel 2019. When can we expect a resolution to this problem? We're now in the last quarter of 2019!

The lack of compatibility for Excel 2019 should be embarrassing for Intuit. I've been working around it for more than six months now but it seems like Intuit has abandoned the desktop product for the far inferior online version. Can anyone recommend a better alternative to Quickbooks? If Intuit isn't willing to keep Quickbooks compatible for the most basic accounting tool - it seems like the community should be looking for alternatives which I hate to say as I've used Quickbooks for over 20 years.
What a joke. Here is the Intuit timeline on this post:
4-17-2019: acknowledge Office 2019 still not compatible with Quickbooks 2019 products
4-22-2019: report there is no timeline to fix this
6-7-2019: they noted that they need to consider the stability before adding the latest version of Office
7-4-2019: they report this has been escalated to the payroll team
9-12-2019: they report the engineering team is working on this
3 weeks ago: they report that they are still working on it
To round this all out, upgrading to 2020 versions of Quickbooks also will not solve your issue since those version are also not compatible with Microsoft Office 2019.
This is absolutely unacceptable. My company has also been recommending Quickbooks to our customers for years. As noted above, perhaps it is time for a change.
Please provide an update.
I have read through this thread and agree that this issue needs to be resolved ASAP.
Last response being approx. 6 weeks ago.
Our firm deals with many clients that we recommend QB to, but our now getting complaints from our clients as well as enduring frustrations at our own firm with regard to Office 2019 and QB export incompatibility.
Although frustrating and time consuming we may be forced to recommend an alternative product.
Downgrading is not an adequate solution; Office 2019 was released over a year ago, a company as large as Intuit must understand the necessity to stay current in this industry.
Regards,
I'm here to give updates, Alia1.
The Office 2019 is not supported at this time. Though, rest assured that our developers are working for this to be available. This article will show us the software compatibility for for QuickBooks 2019 and Enterprise Solutions 19.0.
In the meantime, you can visit our QuickBooks Desktop App Store. You can see from there a list of third-party software that can help you to export files from QuickBooks Desktop 2019 to Office 2019.

The response from QuickBooks reps all year has been that their developers are working on this. I don't believe that for a second because it's now almost December and there has been no progress on this issue. All of us continue to complain and nothing is being done. What is going on here and when will this be corrected?
The response from Quickbook reps all year is that their developers are working on this. If that were true, this would have been resolved a long time ago. So now it's almost December and there is no progress on this problem. All of our complaints seem to be doing nothing. When will this problem be corrected? This has been frustrating to the extreme.
Hello @cpcil,
I understand the impact of any delay in resolving this ongoing compatibility issue with QuickBooks Desktop 2019 and Excel 2019. This happens since our Product Engineers are still waiting for updates from the Microsoft team so they'll be able to sync it with QuickBooks' new release. Once finalized, you'll be notified via an email.
Meanwhile, you can read through these articles to ensure your tax table and QuickBooks software is updated to the latest version:

Well I am glad I thought to research this before buying my new pc considering I was going to add Microsoft word and excel 2019! In my opinion Quickbooks and Microsoft are trying to force every one of their users to monthly/yearly subscriptions in the cloud. I do not believe that either Intuit or Microsoft are working on any fixes or updates. It is all about profit not customer service, there are absolutely higher profit margins to be made on subscription services. All companies need to make enough profit to succeed but customer service is also a huge factor in surviving. I would be interested to read about any other options out there to replace Intuit QB if anyone has suggestions.
I am glad I thought to check into this before purchasing a new pc today! I was going to add microsoft word and excell 2019 to this new computer purchase, an approximately $250 add. Now I will need to rethink this. I do not believe that Intuit QB or Microsoft are working on fixing or updating anything concerning this issue. Intuit and Microsoft are trying to force all of their users into monthly or yearly subscriptions for their cloud applications. There is substantially more profit to be made for Intuit and Microsoft from users purchasing subscriptions. The obvious priority is for profits not customer service. I understand as a business owner profit is a must but so is customer service. If anyone has any suggestions for better software than Intuit I would love to read about it.
It's now 2020 and this problem has still not been resolved. I started asking about this back in July 2019 and the QuickBooks response has always been that their developers are working on this. I have not been able to run any of the reports I need since July and now I can't run my year end reports. This is EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING and terrible customer service. When will QB Desktop Pro 2019 be fully compatible with Excel 2019?

I sure hope this works. I have excel desktop 2019 and QB 2020 and they won't talk to each other. even though I have the latest version of each and intuits compatibility chart indicates they are compatible. I sure hope business importer works as advertised. The price is right. I looked at Cdata solution too and they want almost $500 a year and does way more than I need. I just need to export reports for heavens sake. I guess I should have stuck with Office 2010!
