How do I get the "new invoice experience" back?

Somehow my account got switched to the "old invoice experience" but I never asked for this. Now it seems impossible to switch back to the "new invoice experience"?

According to this article I should be able to switch back "any time"

If you decide you prefer the new experience, you can switch back any time:

  1. Select + New
  2. Select Invoice or Estimate
  3. Select Try the new invoices

However "try the new invoices" isn't an option for me. How do I fix this? The old experience is missing features that I rely on.

How do I get the "new invoice experience" back?

I'm here to make sure you can use the new invoice layout in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account, @kitzy.

Know that the feature is only available for new QBO accounts. With that said, you need a new company file to utilize the new invoice experience feature.

If your company file is new, and it accidentally reverts to the Old layout, and the option to select the New invoice experience is unavailable, we can perform some steps to fix this.

There are times that the browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, which causes some errors or unusual responses. Let's start accessing your account using a different or a private browser. You can use either of these shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

Once you have successfully have the option to choose the new layout, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. This is done to speed up the process next time you do a transaction in QuickBooks Online. Also, an alternative way is to use other compatible browsers.

Moreover, I'll be sharing these links to help manage and personalize your invoices and other sales forms in QuickBooks:

You can also post here again if you have other questions about going back to the new invoice layout. I'll be more than happy to help you out again. Take care, and have a nice day.

How do I get the "new invoice experience" back?

Thanks for that.

I tried using an incognito window in Chrome, and I also tried using a private browsing window in Safari, but unfortunately I'm still not able to see the option to switch back to the new invoices. Is there something else I can try?

How do I get the "new invoice experience" back?

So I've had a few different calls with the customer support team, and none of them were able to help me. I also asked about raising a ticket to the engineering team, and they told me this was not something they were able to do. It feels like I'm just stuck forever on the old experience now. Is that really the case? The old experience is missing a critical feature that I was relying on.

How do I get the "new invoice experience" back?

Good evening, @kitzy

I appreciate you coming back and letting us know about the calls and other details.

Right now, the option to switch back to the new invoices isn't available right now. Users will need to wait until QuickBooks rolls the new forms out to everyone.

There isn't a particular date set for when this will occur. However, keep a look out on our Blog site to review what's new in the system.

I hope this helps answer your question. I'm only a post away if you have any more concerns. Take care!

How do I get the "new invoice experience" back?

Hi Candice,

Thanks for the reply that wasn't "try incognito".  Much appreciated!

The help article on this feature seems to indicate you CAN switch back and forth, but clearly that isn't working.

https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/job-estimates/see-whats-new-estimates...

Did something change?  I know it was possible at one point.

In my case I checked the settings box to "apply deposits" in the Account and Settings.  I've unchecked this option (back to thew way it was before) but no luck.  I suspect that's what has caused the issue.  Is this something on the roadmap to be resolved?

How do I get the "new invoice experience" back?

I understand the benefits of using the new invoice experience in QuickBooks Online, @SmittyCloud

As mentioned by my colleague above, the new experience for invoices are rolled out for some new QBO users only. That said, any time you switch it back to the old layout, there are instances that you're unable to get back to the new layout.

Since you don’t have the option to move back, I have an alternative solution you can use to accomplish it. We can send this suggestion to our Product Developers. They might consider it for future product enhancements. Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon and choose Feedback.
  2. Enter your feedback Suggestion.
  3. Press Next.

Also, I'm adding these resources to help you organize your sales forms in QBO:

I’m always ready to assist you if you have any other questions or concerns about invoices. Tag me in your reply, and I’ll sprint back into action. Have a good one.

How do I get the "new invoice experience" back?

Here we are, two months after this original question, and still no resolution to this question -- besides, once you switch you cannot switch back.  Why wasn't there some kind of warning that if you switch you can't switch back?  My business coach switched this one day, and now I can't fix it.  The new invoices had features that were very advantageous for me.  This is EXTREMELY frustration.  And even more so is the answer that, there's nothing you can do.  Just wait until it rolls out to everyone.  It should never have been offered if it wasn't ready.  ESPECIALLY without a date that it would be fully ready.

Add this to my ever growing list of frustrations with quickbooks and their customer service.

How do I get the "new invoice experience" back?

What did you expect?  Actual help?  Now go clear your cache..

Honestly, I had it too, but I was busy working and it changed the entire layout of my invoices.  So I switched back.  Now that I have a little downtime I wanted to turn it on again to play with it.  Not there, and I guess it will just be a mass clustermuck when everyone is forced to use it.

Hint to Intuit, beta test with real companies first... get ideas and listen to them... Most of our customers don't like layouts of the invoices changing.  And we all know the REAL reason you want to change it and force it is because you want us to use your credit card processing.  Even today on a support call they asked me "how do your customers pay?"  I about reached through the phone and strangled someone.. upselling on a support call.. wow...

How do I get the "new invoice experience" back?

Yesterday I got an email from Intuit stating QBO invoicing is being updated, and the following message:  "We want to remind you about an invoice change that will affect your QuickBooks Online Simple Start customers beginning October 16, 2023. Other QuickBooks Online plans will follow over the next several months, and customers will be directly notified in advance of the changes via email."

This feature is not showing in my Simple Start company.  I watched a video link (below) that uses Sample company Craig's Landscape to demonstrate the feature, but when I go to sample company Craig's Landscape and create a new invoice, there is no change, no new feature..

It sounds like the Beta version rolled out in February, it didn't work and now it's fixed?  Watch your email.

How do I get the "new invoice experience" back?

I appreciate you sharing details of your concern, @PamJ3.

Based on the information you provided, it seems that the new feature for QuickBooks Online (QBO) invoicing is being rolled out gradually. The email you received mentioned that the changes will first affect QBO Simple Start customers starting from October 16, 2023. Other QBO  plans will follow over the next several months, and customers will be notified in advance via email.

Regarding the discrepancy you noticed with the sample company Craig's Landscape, it's possible that the new feature is not yet available for that specific sample company. The rollout of features can sometimes be staggered, and it may take some time before all accounts, including sample companies, have access to the new feature.

It's also worth noting that the beta version of the feature may have been released earlier, encountered issues, and has since been fixed before the official rollout. I'd still suggest keeping an eye on your email for any updates or notifications regarding the new feature.

Additionally, you may want to explore this website to gather information about the most recent enhancements and advancements in QuickBooks: New features in QuickBooks.

Should you need any additional information or have any questions or concerns about the new feature, please leave a comment below. I'll be available to address them promptly.
