Question

How do I get the "new invoice experience" back?

Somehow my account got switched to the "old invoice experience" but I never asked for this. Now it seems impossible to switch back to the "new invoice experience"?

According to this article I should be able to switch back "any time"

If you decide you prefer the new experience, you can switch back any time:

  1. Select + New
  2. Select Invoice or Estimate
  3. Select Try the new invoices

However "try the new invoices" isn't an option for me. How do I fix this? The old experience is missing features that I rely on.

I'm here to make sure you can use the new invoice layout in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account, @kitzy.

Know that the feature is only available for new QBO accounts. With that said, you need a new company file to utilize the new invoice experience feature.

If your company file is new, and it accidentally reverts to the Old layout, and the option to select the New invoice experience is unavailable, we can perform some steps to fix this.

There are times that the browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, which causes some errors or unusual responses. Let's start accessing your account using a different or a private browser. You can use either of these shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

Once you have successfully have the option to choose the new layout, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. This is done to speed up the process next time you do a transaction in QuickBooks Online. Also, an alternative way is to use other compatible browsers.

Moreover, I'll be sharing these links to help manage and personalize your invoices and other sales forms in QuickBooks:

You can also post here again if you have other questions about going back to the new invoice layout. I'll be more than happy to help you out again. Take care, and have a nice day.

Thanks for that.

I tried using an incognito window in Chrome, and I also tried using a private browsing window in Safari, but unfortunately I'm still not able to see the option to switch back to the new invoices. Is there something else I can try?

Good evening, @kitzy

I appreciate you coming back and letting us know about the calls and other details.

Right now, the option to switch back to the new invoices isn't available right now. Users will need to wait until QuickBooks rolls the new forms out to everyone.

There isn't a particular date set for when this will occur. However, keep a look out on our Blog site to review what's new in the system.

I hope this helps answer your question. I'm only a post away if you have any more concerns. Take care!

Hi Candice,

Thanks for the reply that wasn't "try incognito".  Much appreciated!

The help article on this feature seems to indicate you CAN switch back and forth, but clearly that isn't working.

Did something change?  I know it was possible at one point.

In my case I checked the settings box to "apply deposits" in the Account and Settings.  I've unchecked this option (back to thew way it was before) but no luck.  I suspect that's what has caused the issue.  Is this something on the roadmap to be resolved?
