"do I delete the one with the lightening bolt?"
You delete whichever one is the Wrong One. Example:
Example: You had a Bill Payment Check and then you let the banking download Add a "check" which means the expense details are in the file twice. The Bill Payment check is the "right" one and the Added = the duplicate and an error.
"It makes no difference if they are duplicates."
A Lighting bolt = verified from banking download. It can be the Wrong One is "verified" from the perspective of the Accounting, however.how do I get an asterisk to change to a checkmark?
How do I get an asterisk to change to a checkmark in reconciliation
Hello there, @jannyell.
I'd be glad to join the thread and help you change the asterisk to check-mark.
As mentioned by our Established Community Backer, qbteachmt, the asterisk appears on the register when the reconciliation process was not yet completed. To change the asterisk mark to check-mark, you may need to resume the reconciliation process. You have to go back to the Begin Reconciliation window, re-enter the beginning balance and proceed with reconciliation as usual.

I have the lightning Bolt next to an account for some reason & it's out of the correct place on my COA now. It's at the top rather then further down where it should be. I'm not sure why it happened. It's always been fine then something changed. It's a credit card account.

I just updated to from QB desktop 2017 to 2020. I now have an axe emoji next to my credit card accounts in the chart of accounts. The feed is broken and it's asking for the account customer ID in the bank feeds section. It seems when I set it up under 2017 that it autofilled when I set it up but now it doesn't . Does this account number exist somewhere else. I'm fairly sure it's not my QB account number, it's related to the bank. I called them (Capital One) and they have no idea. Now what?
Hello there, @Anonymous.
You can edit your login credentials or any information in your bank account connected to QuickBooks Desktop if you disable and re-enable Bank Feeds.
To ensure that the most current data will be pulled from the bank server during re-setup. In the meantime, only the admin of the account can make the changes.
Here's how:
I've also included this helpful article in case you need some ideas about how you can categorize your downloaded transactions: Add and match Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

This is what is not working...Possibly because it recognizes me.
Web Connect: If your bank offers Web Connect, follow the onscreen instructions on how to connect your account. When you download transactions from your bank and import them to QB for the first time, then this sets up an account for Bank Feeds. The connection methods available depend on your bank.
I can download the transactions like I was doing before the upgrade. I had already disabled them but I can re-enable without some account number that won't auto fill like it did last time. It seems to be related to the little ax emojis. I tried to transfer the balance to a new credit card and start fresh but it wouldn't work either.
Thanks for performing the steps provided above and sharing additional troubleshooting steps to fix the issue, @Anonymous.

What if that column is blank for a transaction?
I'm here to explain what it means, Scrounge.
If the column is blank, it means that the transaction is not yet cleared or reconciled. It also not an electronic transaction.

Does what you call a lightning bolt also look like a checkmark only not as dark? I have QBDT Mac and if I click once, it is a dark checkmark, twice and it turns lighter, 3 times and it disappears.
Martha
