Thank you this worked. Should have thought to do that originally but thought that maybe they got rid of the feature. Thanks again.
I tried this and it did not work on my mobile app.
Same here. Since the new update to the app Receipt Snap has completely disappeared. There is the ability to attach a photo to an expense but it no longer OCR the receipt. Might as well just do it all from the desktop. Disappointing, why change what already was working... K.I.S.S.
Hi Kevin-
I'm interested in knowing what happened with this. I'm a new user but this was a huge selling point for me to sign up. We are currently using Expensify but I was looking forward to getting away from that program to fully utilize all of the features of QuickBooks Online. It seems like it's user role related but I can't find a role that allows my co-workers to utilize the app without seeing sensitive financial data.
Hello there, @ac791. Thanks for posting here.
I’ve seen you’ve posted a similar concern in the Community space. My colleague has already provided brief information regarding your inquiry about user role access. If you haven't been notified about the response, please check out this link to read the recommendation: Snap receipts rights for a user.
I appreciate your time and effort. If you have any other concerns, please let me know. I’d be glad to help you. Wish you can get back to running your account soon. Have a good one and keep safe.
I still have this issue, i have tried all above, uninstalled and refresh, noting works. I also downloaded the app in my iPad and i still can’t see the icon for the receipt snap.
this is very frustrating and seems to be an issue that a lot of us are struggling with

When will employees with the expense submitter role be able to utilize the mobile app for receipt capture?
Thanks for getting involved with this thread, DDShaw.
I can certainly understand how an ability to set up a user for submitting expenses and using the receipt capture feature in our mobile apps could be useful and have submitted a suggestion about it as of today.
You can also submit your own feature requests while signed in with a web browser.
Here's how:
Your feedback's definitely valuable to Intuit. It will be reviewed by our Product Development team and considered in future updates. You can stay up-to-date with the latest news about your product by reviewing Intuit's Product Updates webpage.
For the time being, you can setup custom roles if you're using an Advanced subscription. All other subscriptions have their available user roles covered in our User roles & access rights article. I'd also like to point out that our mobile app supports all standard users, as long as they have access to all accounting features.
I've also included a detailed resource about uploading receipts which may come in handy moving forward: Upload your receipts
If there's any additional questions, I'm just a post away. Have a great Friday!
Thanks for the quick response. There is not a combination of user privileges that would allow an employee to submit a receipt and categorize it while not having access to other financial information that we wouldn’t want them to see. Am I missing something there in the user roles?
I know the frustration - I was sold on the Advanced subscription with the advertisement that I could easily set up my employees to submit expense claims via the QBO app. That was not the case - I ended up having to set my employees up as Time Tracking + Expense Claims users and they log into the website (either on a computer or via their phone) to snap/upload pictures of their receipts with details. This was my only option to avoid them seeing sensitive financial data they normally would not be privy to. I recommend working with a VIP support person if you have that subscription capability.
Thank you for reaching out here in the Community, @DDShaw.
I recognize the importance of allowing your employees to submit receipts without having access to your other information. Let me share some insights about the employee expense claims that QuickBooks Online offers.
This feature allows you to invite employees within the " Expense submitted " role. Access to employees is limited to the submission of expenses and they may directly submit their expenses using their web browser on mobile or desktop. They will not be able to view or record information directly in the books. The submitted expenses may also be reviewed and recorded by the administrators.
Here’s how you can invite an Employee to submit expenses:
That’ll help. Just a heads up, this feature is only available to the QuickBooks Online Advanced customers.
If you wish to upgrade and manage your QuickBooks plan to add more or have fewer accounting features, you can visit this article for reference: Upgrade or downgrade your QuickBooks Online edition.

Same problem. Reinstalling the app did not solve the problem.
Thank you for sharing updates when trying to resolve the issue, @KC-75.
Rest assured, I am committed to ensuring you can fully utilize the receipt snap feature on your QuickBooks Online mobile app.
To enable this feature, log out of QuickBooks, then log back in and make sure you're signed in as Master Admin or Company Admin. This will allow you to access the receipt snap feature.
If the feature is still not available after this , I recommend reaching out to our QuickBooks Online Care Team for further assistance. They can investigate any recurring issues and provide tailored support.
While we address this, consider emailing your expense receipts and bills for easy integration into QuickBooks Online as a workaround. Simply forward them to a custom email address that you can create for this purpose.
To set up a custom email address, here's how:
Once set up, you can forward images of receipts and bills directly to QuickBooks for processing.
I'll show you how:
QuickBooks will automatically extract relevant information from the image, such as dates, amounts, vendors, and the last four digits of the credit card.
You can also read this article for the complete details: Email receipts and bills to QuickBooks Online.
