I received .pdf's of transaction reports to review. I do not know what version of QB was used and would like to know what the "X" symbol in the CLR column represents.
Hi there, bookie13.
I'm glad you've reached out to us. Let me help provide some insights about the symbol X in Clr column in QuickBooks Desktop.
The X symbol in the Clr column on the report, there are deleted transactions in your account. You can double-check it through an audit trail to verify if there was a transaction deleted or modified.

They can't be deleted transactions, they are showing in the transaction report for the entire year but only in the CLR column of the bank account.
The check mark in this column means the bank reconciliation are completed and this items are reconciled.
I don't know what the "X" in the CLR column on the transaction report for the bank account means.
Thank you,
Thanks for getting back to us, @bookie13.
You may be referring to the asterisk symbol (*) in the CLR column instead. If so, this means that someone has started a reconciliation and checkmarked this transaction but unable to finish it.
Other symbols that you might see in the report are:

Hey there,
Not referring to a lightning bolt...looking at a bold X in the CLR column for the bank account in the transaction detail report...thinking someone started the bank reconciliation but did not reconcile.
Any other thoughts from someone who works with QB?
Thanks for getting back to us, bookie13.
Aside from the details provided by FritzF, those are the symbols that you can see under the CLR column.
Do you have screenshot of the bold X mark under the CLR column? What QuickBooks version are you using? What specific report did you pull up?
Meanwhile, we can do a few troubleshooting steps to ensure that your company file is in good condition.
Feel free to provide additional details about it so we can review what else we can do.
Hello,
I'm having the same issue in the same report " Reconciliation Detail" report. I'm also getting other symbols. Some of the transactions have the "X" or an "M" or a checkmark. Please advise.
Thank you
Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, Mari10. I will love to assist you here. As mentioned earlier in the thread, when there is an X in the CLR column, this indicated that the transaction was deleted, and using your audit trail can help confirm this. When it comes to the checkmark, this means that the transaction has been entered, verified, marked as Cleared, and the reconciliation was completed. Whereas with the "M" symbol, is it possible that you can provide a screenshot to examine this further?
I would recommend following those same troubleshooting steps above if you haven't done so already to verify and rebuild your program to rule out data damage. Once that is isolated, and there is still an issue, we can find another way to resolve this. Please let me know how this goes. I will be here waiting for your update and the screenshot. Until then, take care!
Thank you for your quick reply. I checked the rebuild data and it came back O.K. I'm attaching a file with the "X" and "M" under the Clr. column. It just can't possibly be that all of those transactions were deleted. I ran other reports and those transactions show up and have a checkmark under the Clr. column. It seems like the Reconciliation Detail report is the only one with the symbol issues. Thanks
Thanks for adding a screenshot of your Reconciliation Detail report, @Mari10.
I'm here to share some information about the X and M letters on your report.
Please take note that QuickBooks Desktop displays unique symbols to represent the status of your transactions. I've listed them below. Here are the signs that you'll see on the screen:
These are the symbols that you'll see on the printed reports:

I have the same issue of an X in the cleared column on the most recent reconciliation. They were not deleted transactions They do not show up on the locate discrepancy report. They are all transactions a Journal entry was created to clear them. A mini reconciliation did not work to clear them. They still show an X in the cleared column of the report listed in the uncleared transactions. How can this be rectified? We recently upgraded to Enterprise. This was not an issue in the past using Pro. I don't want to see these reconciled transactions on every report going forward as it did in the last two.
Thank you for any help you can give.
Thanks for joining the conversation, @D3bM. I'd be glad to help you out.
To rectify this issue, I recommend performing some basic troubleshooting steps using verify and rebuild data tools. This finds common data issues in your company file.
Let's begin by updating your QBDT program to bring in the new updates from the Intuit server.
Once done, accept the option to install the new release, then restart the program. If the issue persists, you'll need to run the Verify and Rebuild Data process within your company file to fix the issue.
Here's how:
1. Go to the File menu.
2. Select Utilities.
3. Click Verify Data. Then, select OK to close all windows.
If the same thing happens, it would be best to contact our support team. They can pull your account securely and further investigate the issue. We can also have a screen-sharing session with them to determine the root cause.

I found the reason to be off cycle reconciliations to clear the transactions in question incorrectly dated in the future. Once the reconciliations were deleted and done with the correct date the problem was resolved.
It's good to have you back, D3bM.
