I had same problems everyone else is describing
I found on this forum that before you do update, check the box 'Reset Updates'. That worked for me and now it prints correctly.
Apparently it goes and gets all the updates fresh.
But, before I found and tried this, I requested a call from support and the technician said that he couldn't help me unless I upgraded to QB 2022. I'm on QB 2020, which to my mind isn't that old. I find it ridiculous that I was told that when there was actually a simple solution.
I hope my experience helps someone else.
I appreciate you for joining this thread, @AP201. I’m here to help so you can successfully print your 1099s with three vendors per page.

People this works !! I’ve been struggling with print ing them and tried this this morning and got them all printed! The sample form shuts down but you can print on plain paper and hold it up to see if it aligns with the forms! Mine aligned perfectly! I think the reset update is what needs to be checked to work!! Thank you!

So it is 1/23/22 - 1099s are due in a week and we still don't have an update?????? for the NECs
This should not be an issue since every other company has 3 part printing.

Utterly ridiculous. I just purchased the 2022 Desktop subscription to be able to print the 1099-NEC. It still prints 2 to a page. Is Intuit just trying to rip customers off? I have been a loyal customer of Intuit for years, but it is absurd that you cannot have an update to resolve the problem. Clearly these have to be to recopients by Feb 1. It is Jan 23rd and still no fix. Get on the ball Intuit! I should get a refund!!!
I want to ensure this is taken care of, @qhorse.
To print 1099-NEC into 3 pages, you'll have to update your QuickBooks on the latest release with the appropriate critical fixes.
You can check and follow the steps given by my colleague above on how to get the critical fixes.

I do not see where there was a response regarding how to fix this issue for QuickBooks Online. Can you please advise how to fix this with the online "Accountant" version?
Thanks for joining this thread and knowing more details on how to print 1099- NEC in 3 pages in QuickBooks Online, @chicaccounting.
For QuickBooks Online, you'll have to buy the pre-printed forms that are compatible with QuickBooks to avoid any error. From there, you can now print the 3-page form of 1099. You can get a compatible pre-printed kit from this link: https://www.intuitmarket.intuit.com/tax-forms/1099-forms.
Also, you can manually align the form and choose three (3) horizontal then zero (0) vertical to be able to print the form. Our engineers were also made aware of the issue and are working to update the page accordingly.
I'll be sharing these articles that contain a complete set of instructions on how to print and fill the form:
I'll be here to lend a hand if you have follow-up questions or any QuickBooks concerns. Have a good one, @chicaccounting
This worked for me! Thanks for the tip!
It is unacceptable that QB will not have this format printable until the day before the due date.
I did all of the updates including critical fixes and reset updates, restarted computer and nothing works for QB Pro 2021 or 2018
I appreciate you for trying the steps shared by my colleagues, nancysellers.
Let's ensure that you're logged in as the administrator when updating the file to the latest release. If the same thing happens, verify the release version and extension for your product year to check the capability to print the 3-part 1099 forms. These are the versions that supports the 3-part 1099 forms:
Once the update has been installed, go to the 1099 Wizard and print Form 1099-NEC.

I own an Accounting & Tax Prep Firm, I am the Accountant listed & my clients (32 total) are on my QuickBooks Online Accountant wholesale account; so I am the administrator. The only option is 2-up & I have 846 of these forms to get printed & mailed out ASAP. I am not on a desktop version, I am QBO
Listen to me please ma'am. This does not work; and honestly the amount of times things have "not worked" over the past 2 years within QuickBooks Online or Desktop is disturbing
It is now 1/24/22 and we have to file 1099-NEC's soon. I have run all the updates according to the instructions and still only get 2 vendors per page whereas the new form is 3 vendors per page. When will this be fixed?? It's very urgent now.
I recognize the hurdle you've been through in fixing the issue for 1099-NEC form printing, @chicaccounting.
When I tried printing 1099-NEC in QuickBooks Online, I noticed that it's printing three contractors per page.
However, the Select a form type and print page is still showing two per page, regardless of the fact that it hasn't been updated. You simply need to continue printing the form with the graphic or indicator indicating that there are two pages per page.
Our product engineers are already aware of the issue and are looking into updating the page accordingly.
Let me also add this article about IRS for more details about 1099-NEC: Instructions for Forms 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC.

Apparently we have all tried your "fixes" and still having issues. I have one company on version 2018 not working, one on 2022 not working, three on 2022 working. I have had our IT consultant try and still not working.
Telling us the same thing over and over, or advise that we look at the IRS instructions is crazy. Assume we are all professionals and have a clue to what we are doing.
Telling everyone to upgrade, of course spending more money with you, does not work,
Maybe get your engineers to find an answer. The 1099s must be mailed next Monday.
I have read all the messages, and no matter what I can't get my 2021 QB Desktop to show R8_(62+). Even after all the updates it is at R8_51. Therefore no matter what I do I get 2 vendors per page and not 2 on my 1099-NEC. HELP!!!!
I've followed your directions and still can only print 2 1099 forms per page. I MUST have 3 per page as that is the only format available. How do I do this?
Daniel Corleto
I've not been so lucky ... tried the Reset but no go. Sooo enraging. I hate wasting my time on this. It should be effortless
I've tried the Rest Update over and over again, still only 2 per page. What do I do? Time is running out!!!!
