I have gone through these steps several times with no luck. My version is still saying R3_65 and I'm getting error #15240 on critical fixes.
Thanks for getting back with the Community about this, K-B. I appreciate you performing MadelynC's recommended troubleshooting steps.
Since you're encountering error 15240, there's a few things you'll want to try. Initially, it's recommended to run QuickBooks as an administrator. This action can be performed by right-clicking the QuickBooks application icon on your computer, then selecting Run as Administrator.
If the error message continues appearing when running QuickBooks as an admin, I'd recommend verifying your system date and time settings.
Here's how:
In the event you're still receiving a 15240 error after our above-mentioned troubleshooting, you'll want to continue with the recommended solutions until it's fixed. Your next step will be to add Windows permissions to QuickBooks installation folders.
If there's any additional questions, I'm just a post away. Have a lovely day!
@K-B - Run as administrator worked for me. Good luck.
To say that I am beyond frustrated at this point is an understatement. Running QB Desktop Pro 2021 on Windows 10. Version 31.0.04008.0 There is nothing new to update in the "update" QB. Had to jump through numerous hoops just to get the updates done, have run the Tool hub PDF fix and everything else. Still have 2 part 1099 NEC forms. WHAT IN THE WORLD???
Has anyone found out anything else we need to do to make this work?
Thank you
Can you please list the step and what page?

Because the QB updates had been previously done, l tried unsuccessfully for over two hours to print the 1099s--but then tried this and it worked:
Turn off printer.
Go into QuickBooks, Help, then Update QuickBooks Desktop.
Select the Options tab, and check the Mark All button.
Click the Update Now tab, then put a checkmark on the Reset Update box.
Hit Get Updates. Once the update is complete, restart your computer. Turn on printer.
(These posts need actual dates rather than time hacks like "3 weeks ago"--especially when they have been going on for years!)
I have followed all of the above steps and also a step I received yesterday recommending making sure both automatic update and shared download are checked yes. Restarted QB Desktop Pro but still unable to print 1099. Interestingly I can and have been able to print the 1096 form but not the 1099 form. Is there a fix in the making as I understand that this is a bug that Intuit knows about. Perhaps providing a work around so that the 1099 can be printed without having to go through the wizard.
I have additional troubleshooting steps so the 1099 form will be visible in your QuickBooks, @Tjr13.
I appreciate all the efforts you have made so far. This time, I'll guarantee you that you'll see the updated form with three pages in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
Here are some things to follow to ensure the form will be visible in your account:
After that, you can now review your 1099 costs and file the form. To know which payments should be excluded from the 1099-NEC form, visit this link: 1099 payments FAQS.
Once everything is complete, print the form by going to the 1099 Wizard. Please note that the opening wizard is important to ensure the payments are mapped correctly.

If you have additional questions or concerns, leave me a comment below. I’ll be happy to help you out. Take care, Tjr13.
I have done all of the trouble shooting actions to no avail. I can print the 1096 but not the 1099. I would like to have this issue fixed so I do not have to prepare the 1099 by hand.
I appreciate taking the time to do the steps outlined above, Tjr13.
Updating QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release and enabling the Reset Update option should allow you to print the 1099 NEC 3 pages. Since you're unable to print after doing all the troubleshooting steps provided on this thread. I'd suggest reaching out to our QuickBooks Support. They have the tools to do screen sharing and investigate this much further.

Same!! I had to have my IT guy come and resolve the printing issue. Now it will print but it only will print two venders per page and the 1099 NEC forms are 3 venders per page. I’ve searched for fixes and nothing. I may end up having to hand write each 1098-NEC.
Crazy.
My first attempt to print 2021 1099's didn't work. Printing 2-part instead of the 3-part forms I purchased from Intuit. Downloaded all desktop QB's updates, including and very important, Critical Updates. Once updates were completed, "New Files Installed", I closed QB's and restarted my desktop. I signed back on using "Run as Administrator". When QB's loaded it asked me to allow QB's to make "changes to hard drive", I chose YES. Then I closed out and restarted my computer again. Still couldn't print 1099's :/ Then I read in this blog that I needed to make sure that I got my 'Payroll Updates' done as well. Then I restarted my computer again. Still couldn't print 1099's. Kept going through the 1099 Wizard. I corrected/deleted a couple of sub entries I had missed. When I got to the window that asks "NEC Box 1" or "Omit these", all of my entries showed "NEC". I check the box on the bottom left of the window "Report all payments in Box 1" and that did the trick!!
I am running into the exact same problem, everything you described I'm getting a little nervous being next wk is 31st.... dont know what to do...🙄😠
Thank you! This worked for me also.
I went thru a few levels of trouble.
1) Getting a summary report required clicking on NEC vs MISC at the top of the report screen. When nothing came up, I had to switch to All accounts, although after having done that, it is automatically working under the 1099 only selection.
2) I skipped thru the process to print, but got the message that there were no eligible vendors - incorrect.
3) I went carefully thru the process to print, updating all of my selections. Even tho the end selections were the same as before, this time I was able to get my list to print.
4) Tried to get a preview, which took a long time, but looked right. Only had 1 page previewed, so had to go back to print for the rest.
5) As I hit print directly from the print list, I heard a bing from my computer. When I tried to exit, a box came to the front telling me that the printing was outside of the page. When I said ok, my forms printed.
6) I do not trust the QB collation, so I always print set by set. The 2nd time thru, printed immediately; 3rd time thru, had to try to get out in order for the print area notice to come up - once ok'd, printed fine.
Don't know if any of these steps will help anyone, but it does cover several glitches!
They simply want you to enroll in a subscription service. I have Desktop Pro 2018 installed in 2020. It would be great to not have to be paying monthly for a program that I have used for only 2 years (not even). It doesn't help me when QB tells me that I have a 2012 version (that's probably why it states "Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2018" on the top banner. Nonsense.
@wsj333 wrote:Been on the phone with Quickbooks 3 times today. Major issues with 1099's, that's for sure. Shame on them! They've been around long enough to get this right. I STILL cannot print Forms B or C. Currently been on hold for over an hour waiting for someone to figure this out.
I don't have a computer running windows 10. What do I do? There is no way a company the size of Intuit Quickbooks is just making everybody with an up-to-date computer have to go find an old computer to print 1099's. My 1096 printed with zero issues, everything else prints find as well.
What is the solution?
Hi, @codyrey.
I appreciate you joining this conversation. Allow me to hop in and share information about printing 1099s in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
As mentioned by my colleagues above, the supposed fix to print 1099s in is to update QBDT to its latest released version. Press the F2 key on your keyboard and review the list below for reference.

Have they come up with a fix to be able to print 3 payers per sheet for the 1099-NEC forms ? I'm trying to print them today, but they are only printing 2 per page as if they were 1099-MISC. Please HELP
Let me help you print 3 per page for 1099 forms, KBL19.
You should now be able to print 3 to a page for 1099 forms by having the latest releases with the appropriate critical fixes. Here are the releases required to print 1099 forms in QuickBooks Desktop for Windows:
Then, follow the steps below to get these critical fixes:
When the update is finished, close and reopen the software. Then tap Yes to install the updates and restart your computer. Once the latest release is available, here's a guide on how to print your 1099s and provide copies to your contractors: Print your 1099 forms. If the same thing happens, follow other troubleshooting solutions in this link: Print 3-part 1099s in QuickBooks Desktop.

I was able to update critical fixes by Running as an administrator. To run as administrator right click on QB icon. Once critical fixes were updated,1099 NEC forms printed 3 per page.
This did not help. I have Quickbooks Pro 2018.
Thanks for joining the thread and for sharing your concern with us, KBL19.
If you're using 2018 or earlier an upgrade will be required. I recommend updating your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release to keep your software up-to-date so you always have the latest features and fixes. Then, you'll have to make sure that you updated the tax table so the form will flow in your account.

Lol. I have updated 4 times, along with reboots. Payer's name and address, and amount paid is all in the proper box. However, everything else is all a mess. Payers TIN and Recipients TIN are in the recipients name and address field and so on. And when I align to the + or to the -...it doesn't even move!!! I have searched and double checked on every suggestion. Even paid for an updated desktop version. As our deadline to get these out is coming. I am stressed and upset to the max!
